I know there is pedants corner but I was wondering if there was anywhere where like minded people who want to complain about words like amazeballs, and other grumpy things can go and be grumpy without being told to get a life?

Christmas music can do one.
In fact I'm done with Christmas altogether. I've done it 40 times now and I don't need to do it again. I am fed up with all the adverts trying to sell me this family lifestyle thing of jollyness. It's going to be me. DH and my MIL.

But surely all this elf does it what Father Christmas does. Constantly watching you to make sure you are good. Hardly an original concept, God and Jesus have been up to that game for the last 2000 years.

And people crying because someone's wedding is on their birthday.

Or because they or more likely their PFB was born in December and so they have an "unbirthday" party sometime in the next year because Christmas has stolen their birthday thunder. I was born in December; my parents managed to celebrate it quite nicely for me when I was a child and DH and DCs still manage to help me celebrate it. Christmas does not have to take over your whole life like it's another full time job.

yolofish · 12/11/2014 13:16

I think this might be my spiritual home... saw the ASDA Christmas advert this morning and it seemed to go on for hours and hours and hours.

MehsMum · 12/11/2014 14:10

Ah, Brenda, they get phys geog at GCSE (have to do cliffs and waterfalls, etc) but some A level's let them miss it out and so do some degrees. National scandal.

DidoTheDodo · 12/11/2014 14:29

I'm old.
I'm grumpy.
I'm in.

OnIlkleyMoorBahTwat · 12/11/2014 15:07

Thought of another one. People that are ridculously precious about everything and fearful of 'germs'.

Workmen etc not using toilets

I left my stew out of the fridge for an hour, should I throw it away?

Not washing underwear at the same time as other items

Not using laundrettes due to 'germs'

Not washing pet bowls in the dishwasher (if it gets your raw chicken chopping board clean, then everything else is too surely).

BrendaBlackhead · 12/11/2014 15:14

I may have to be thrown off the thread because I don't like workmen using the toilet - since the dishwasher repair man used mine and I had to throw the toilet seat away . Yep, it was that bad.

BrendaBlackhead · 12/11/2014 15:18

I get extremely grumpy about the guestzilla threads. I mean, honestly, you have to sit at a wedding for a few hours, eat a lukewarm chicken supreme, toast the happy couple and Bob's your uncle. People whingeing about wanting to take hoards of dcs, this that and the other... If you don't like the sound of it just send your regrets!

SconeRhymesWithGone · 12/11/2014 15:33

Actually pretty much everything about weddings, especially the ones of the "I am getting married next year, now my thoughtless sister wants to get married in the same year" variety.

ginslinger · 12/11/2014 16:44

Brenda couldn't you have put it through the dis washer? Grin

ginslinger · 12/11/2014 16:46

Do you know that total strangers had the nerve to have their wedding on the same day as mine in the same registrars office. It was my speshul day

ArgyMargy · 12/11/2014 17:42

Pipbin you have made my day - again!! (regarding the JBS)

Pipbin · 12/11/2014 18:10

Glad to hear it Margy.
Not sure what JBS is though.

Anyone who says "haitch" instead of "aitch". That makes me grumpy.

SirChenjin · 12/11/2014 19:46

I'm in. I'm getting v grumpy in my old age. Pettiness and self-obsession are two of my biggest bugbears - but I'm happy being grumpy at pretty much everything.

mimithemindfull · 12/11/2014 20:05

Yep agree. Pretty much everything gets on my nerves these days. Especially other grumpy old women!

DidoTheDodo · 12/11/2014 20:31

And when did a pushchair become a "buggy"? Grrrrrrr...

SirChenjin · 12/11/2014 20:37

I've always called it a buggy - so grrrrrr back at you Grin

DidoTheDodo · 12/11/2014 20:42

Humph! It will always be a pushchair to me. GRRRR :)

agoodbook · 12/11/2014 20:44

wasn't it a tansad ? Grin

Pipbin · 12/11/2014 20:47

And when did a pushchair become a "buggy"? Grrrrrrr...

I was thinking that just today. It was always a push chair for me. It could be a regional thing.

OP posts:
SconeRhymesWithGone · 12/11/2014 20:47

I call it a stroller.

agoodbook · 12/11/2014 20:48

I must be very old then- and northern......

Pipbin · 12/11/2014 20:48

John Lewis seem to consider buggies and pushchairs to be two different things.
