To want to do my fireworks on remembrance sunday?

It was always planned for tonight, best weather conditions over the weekend for where I am and all that.

However I'v just remembered that its remembrance Sunday today. Am I going to come across as totally insensitive?

You know Remembrance Sunday isn't just about the awful loss of those lives, it's also about commemorating them and celebrating them.

No I don't think so, although you would have done had you done things over service times.

But it would be rude if you went on late at night - but normal rude, not Remembrance Sunday rude.

I'd be fuming if you did this near me - my dog doesn't like fireworks, I have to get doggy valium for him, and I'd be totally blindsided by it and unprepared.

It's too long past the 5th IMO it loses all significance if you not going to do it on the actual day. I wouldn't think it out of order because it's remembrance Sunday but i would be raising an eyebrow at anyone still doing fireworks now

Bonfire night is the 5th.

Fireworks are loud and frighten people and animals. People are prepared for this on the 5th, but not on any other random night.

Keep them until next year and don't piss your neighbourhood off by being selfish.

What ever happened to the time when fireworks were only done on November 5th and you couldn't buy anything louder than a banger?

No nu most people are sensible enough to know a midweek 5/11 means two full weekends of fireworks. It being remembrance day is not an issue, remembering doesn't equal everything else stopping (apart from those 2 minutes obviously).

I work in the week, shifts so unavailable for a family get together until this weekend.

Why should we have to expect it? It's very antisocial.

It's perfectly reasonable to have them tonight . The problem with the 5th being a Wednesday is that it meant there were 2 weekends that could be equally deemed suitable . The castle local to us is having its displays last night and tonight .

I don't expect fireworks on any other night than bonfire night and I think the folk that pick another random night of their choosing are selfish idiots.

You don't need fireworks for your family gathering. Unless you live in total isolation you know it is going to piss people off, so why on earth would you do this? Have a little consideration for other people.

I think its very funny that some people are getting their knickers in such a twist. its only a few fountains, sparklers and catherine wheels. Standard garden fireworks.

We have several organised firework displays happening in the city this weekend; fri, sat and sun evenings.

We have several animals who are totally freaked out by fireworks but we expect them last weekend, this weekend and inbetween.

Once the date is past, then it's past, surely? Commemoration on the night. Especially for garden fireworks.

Incidentally, I'm not a fan of garden fireworks, so that may be clouding my judgement. I've seen a child burned by a sparkler, and we were once at a "garden fireworks" party where one of the rockets went whizzing round the garden at about 4 feet high and only pure luck stopped someone getting hurt.

I think people are getting confused between what they would like to be normal and what is normal. Like it or not bonfire night has never been a one night on the 5th thing even when the 5th falls on a Saturday. Yes it's frustrating when you have animals and dc who don't like it but that's life. I have horses in a built up area and a nervy dog so am now on about 10 days of firework action plan, still don't think it's that big a deal tbh.

Well, I don't live in a part of the UK where 5th November is the big night - here it's Halloween and it's only Halloween, regardless of what night of the week it is. And I don't do garden fireworks ever. I hate them, I think they're dangerous.

There's Diwali, New Year and Chinese New Year too.

Times have changed so it's probably better to learn to expect, while they're still legal.

Having said that, as long as they're not being let off at silly times during the night. It's dark at 5pm now so there's no excuse for it.

I do think it's disrespectful, yes. You had last Saturday, bonfire night and yesterday to let off fireworks, today is inappropriate.

It's disrespectful yes, but not because of remembrance Sunday necessarily. It's disrespectful because of all the parents of very young children and pet owners who fully expect a bad night on bonfire night, Diwali, Chinese New year, New year, etc, but who shouldn't have to put up with two weeks worth on each of these occasions.
