To be a bit miffed that people coo over my Pug puppy more than they do my newborn DD

Seriously I must have been stopped about 20 times today with people wanting to touch and cuddle Daisy Mae my puppy, I don't mind as I am socialising her , but my beautiful new born gets either totally ignored or people give a quick glance into the pram look at me as if to say oh is a baby then give puppy their full attention.

Oh well at least no-one has said Daisy Mae has my eyes or nose

I love puppies and babies, but would be so enchanted by the puppy I may be too distracted to say anything about the baby if said babe was sleeping quietly.

BreconBeBuggered · 03/11/2014 23:30

Puppieeeeeeesssssssssssss.

Sorry. I only really liked my own babies. I only look at anyone else's to be polite. How likely is your baby to give me a little kiss or a puppy nibble?

SistersOfPercy · 03/11/2014 23:31

The other thing is when puppy is being irritating you can lock it in a crate and I believe you can't do that with small children anymore. Grin

Coumarin · 03/11/2014 23:33

Babies are really boring. I've never found a newborn cute in my life. They either look like Phil Mitchell or hairless monkeys.

Puppies however...I will cross a motorway blindfolded to pet a puppy.

Well, I love both babies and puppies. But babies are only fun if you can cuddle and kiss them, which I'm betting you would not let random strangers do. So, I'd probably direct most of my attention to the puppy.

My dog is named Daisy Mae, too. Daisy Mae Doodle. She's a labradoodle.

TooOldForGlitter · 03/11/2014 23:55

Oh she is cute OP. Although I'm sure your baby is too Grin Congratulations!! On the baby too Wink

froootbat · 03/11/2014 23:56

OP I've made passive aggressive comments to my family (inc. my mum!!) about this sort of thing! I think it's just because it's new and the novelty wears off... Probably.

froootbat · 03/11/2014 23:58

@sistersofpercy are you my mum?! Blush

Silverdaisy · 03/11/2014 23:59

Big mistake getting them at the same time. Have baby, people will ooh and aahh. then when you get puppy you won't notice that it is far more popular.

Puppy/kitten cuddles are amazing.

froootbat · 04/11/2014 00:01

Adding to what silverdaisy said... Don't then get them when baby is about to crawl, that is a really stupid idea, what with toilet training and everything.

Really stupid.

Colossally stupid.

why did I do that?

Silverdaisy · 04/11/2014 00:05

Fair point froo. That does't sound like a fun mixture.

froootbat · 04/11/2014 00:18

It isn't, but we build and overcome! I hope

Notmeagain1 · 04/11/2014 02:37

I LOVE babies, but they are normally asleep, bit puppies, like to climb up o,you and have have pupply breath while licking a strangers chin Grin. Your pugs sooooo cute.

Your baby is just as adorable, (I sure to have such a cute puppy sister) but are not as approachable. Im sure if your like I was I didnt want strangers touching my baby, but pups are open game.

Don't think people are ignoring the babe, just know the boundaries. Wink hth

Notmeagain1 · 04/11/2014 02:38

Sorry about the spelling on my phone and hard to see what Im writing.Blush

SurfsUp1 · 04/11/2014 03:06

My dog is fully grown and yet he get's the most absurd amount of attention. I could walk around naked and people wouldn't notice because they'd all be looking at the dog.
It takes me forever to get anywhere due to constant cuddles with his fans.

I have a baby due in March - no one will notice. DS2 went unnoticed too, due to the dog. It's like following Justin Beiber through a crowd of teenage girls.

Mrsdavidcaruso · 04/11/2014 07:30

My DH is as bad heard him saying who's my beautiful girl then who's daddy's little princess looked into the living room baby asleep and he is talking to the pup

Pug in hat oh myyy god Grin

Marylou62 · 04/11/2014 08:52

I dog walked a pair of pugs for years...then attention they got was incredible....I was a bit put out that they ignored my own beautiful springer, so I can only imagine your feelings OP.
Mil made a beautiful quilted, beribboned pram quilt for newborn DD...I was miffed when people stopped and cooed over a QUILT...when DD was so beautiful!

carlsonrichards · 04/11/2014 09:02

I am well past the baby stage, and don't find them anything other than a bit meh. But pug puppies are adorable!
