I love the trick or treaters and the dressing up.

YANBU in the slightest. I love it too, and always have. It was a big event in my childhood in Dublin, right up there with Christmas. This is the first year none of the DCs will be heading out all costumed up, with pillow cases for candy. They have decided they are too old Haloween Sad. Since 1992 I have spent part of Halloween week making costumes and it feels really strange not to be cobbling something together for someone at the last possible minute.

We enjoy halloween, dd is trick or treating and the boys are watching Ghostbusters 2 and answering the door

Have carved pumpkins, roasted pumpkin seeds, decorated cupcakes, played peanut rolling and apple bobbing

Hope you are all having a good evening

I like the one in the middle best.

The smell of burning gently toasting pumpkin is one of the best smells in the whole wide world.

I've had some sweet little ones. However, on my mad dash out to buy some (more) treats I heard an upset small telling his Mummy that her and Daddy had lied - he wasn't a scary zombie at all, because people kept telling him he was cute Grin (He was, as well!)

Have to say, there's been some serious effort with costumes round here, and lovely manners, lots of "thank yous" and "Happy Halloweens"

The only thing to do when confronted by a small cute zombie is to recoil back in absolute horror. They love that.

Aibu to hate halloween as i hate the fact my patients are sitting in their own houses with the lights off as they are frightened. Mind you we had the cutesy little witch and two witchlesses who came into the place i was working today. So cute.

I've just seen a gaggle of Asian kids out in their costumes, collecting sweets being chaperoned by a big brother and it's reminded me of another reason I love Halloween. All kids can join in, the pagans have kindly donated the occasion to all religions so everyone in classrooms up and down the country can be equally excited in a way they can't be about Christmas/Easter/Purim/Eid.

It's a spooky unifying time of year.

Unless you're at one of the schools round here. The Vicar threatens all the pupils with a parental meeting if he sees them out and about in costume or mentioning the 'H' Word.

Miserable owd fucker.

I've really enjoyed it this year. I used to be a bit of a curmudgeon but got into it after relentless pestering to be allowed trick or treating from the DC's. So we now have 3 pumpkins and loads of sweets. Round our way loads of people make a real effort and there are lots of groups of little ones out and about with their parents so it's good fun.

One Dad dressed as a giant marshmallow/Mitchelin mans type thing. Made a change from wizards.

Oh Arkham I'd boot that miserable git back to the 16th century where he belongs!
