Apologies if there already is one but I haven't found it. Quite a few acronyms I know/can figure out but there are some ones that no matter how long I think, I just can't figure out what they stand for. AIBU (I know that one!) to think a glossary would be helpful? (Feel free to just say what they all mean for me)

Perhaps we should check your credentials, OP, by getting you to sit this simple Mumsnet entrance exam.

Jenni2legs · 21/10/2014 14:42

Wow I hadn't heard of this 'war', just opened NM and searched MN, the first result - Why is MN so horrible. How very dare they! Grin

BreconBeBuggered · 21/10/2014 14:46

My browser is refusing to connect to any of the netmums links. I think you might have broken netmums, OP.

MewlingQuim · 21/10/2014 14:46

I don't think it's accidental.

It's easy to tell the difference between NM and MN - this one doesn't require sunglasses to look at it Grin

RainbowRabbit33 · 21/10/2014 14:51

Totally derailing, but I have been desperately looking for an excuse to tell people!

DH and I were having a lengthy discussion about christening politics at the weekend, and decided to consult Dr Google. He input the search term, then scanned the results page with a pained expression. I asked what was wrong...

"I'm really sorry, but the most relevant result is from Nethuns. Should I click on it or not?"

Bless him!

(I think he thinks I take it all a bit more seriously than I do!!)

Bambambini · 21/10/2014 14:58

I've given it a try but it is slow, dull and just makes my teeth itch. It is just so frustrating. I felt like an alien over there. The two sites are so different and I general appeal to different age groups. I think they are mostly a lot younger over there.

moxon · 21/10/2014 15:04

I prefer my popcorn salted. Just saying.

sisterofmercy · 21/10/2014 15:12

I quite like you OP.... you've made me smile on a Tuesday. And I hate Tuesdays.

Gruntfuttock · 21/10/2014 15:18

OP, there's no need to bookmark the link to acronyms, it's up there ^. Underneath Mumsnet Talk it says:

Talk: Customise | Unanswered messages | Getting started | Acronyms | FAQs

InMySpareTime · 21/10/2014 15:22

OP is using the app, it has limited functionality (I.e. No acronyms etc)

moxon · 21/10/2014 15:25

Talk: Customise | Unanswered messages | Getting started | Acronyms | FAQs

FAQ is not an acronym BTW. It's just a random expletive surreptitiously inserted into otherwise innocuous text. 'Cos that's just the way we roll...

JerseySpud · 21/10/2014 15:28

WTF is a Ramekin?!

moxon · 21/10/2014 15:33

jersey Ramekin is a popular contemporary choice of middle name, I believe.

ArsenicChaseScream · 21/10/2014 15:33

Obviously the other site is inferior as i have never heard of it. ( niiiice mumsnetters, caaalm mumsnetters)

Please don't fix the fred (thread) title MNHQ (Mumsnet Headquarters). Tis funny and all new members should be diverted to it! Grin

Niiiice caaaaalm Elph (not her real name unlike Nethuns)

LittleMisslikestobebythesea · 21/10/2014 15:47

Yes please don't change the title, it's what made me read it Grin

I started off on nethuns (please forgive me for my sins)

No swearing? Confused not much fun really!

Then I read a thread about mumsnet and AIBU and how mean you all are!

I thought that sounds interesting! And 2 years later I'm still here Smile

I'm in no doubt I'm a mumsnetter, and proud Grin

BiscuitsAreMyDownfall · 21/10/2014 15:50

I never knew there was two sites originally either and was on Netmums. Then I discovered here and never looked back Grin

The best way to differentiate between the two is that Netmums tells you what you want to hear. Mumsnet tells you what you need to hear.

Much better over here OP

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett

Vow of allegance: pop to Sainsbos, do a bit of cake punching, call someone an enormous cunt and do drunk-posting

I think I've just popped a hernia, in the school playground, where I don't really know anyone. A full spontaneous throat cackle, followed by some Mutley wheezing.
Grin
I really want to go to Sainsburys and punch a spotted dick.

ATombWithoutAFoof · 21/10/2014 16:10

I'm off to Lidl now, going to karate chop a Soreen.

JustScreamNobHurts · 21/10/2014 16:26

You can't punch a Spotted Dick, it's a pudding. Punching puddings would be weird.

cornishmaia · 21/10/2014 16:31

Biscuitsaremydownfall to be honest icant imagine leaving mumsnet. In a short time i have seen just how supportive and humourous it is here. Also how friendly everyone here can be

OP posts:
frizzcat · 21/10/2014 16:36

It's not weird it's quirky.
However I don't want to be unreasonable, so would consider slapping it a bit and then possibly drop kicking into the frozen food isle.

frizzcat · 21/10/2014 16:36

The spotted dick that is ^^
