Apologies if there already is one but I haven't found it. Quite a few acronyms I know/can figure out but there are some ones that no matter how long I think, I just can't figure out what they stand for. AIBU (I know that one!) to think a glossary would be helpful? (Feel free to just say what they all mean for me)

Do netmums hate us as much as we hate them?

Fenton · 21/10/2014 13:56

There should really be some kind of entrance exam when you want to join this site.

Weelass83 · 21/10/2014 13:56

Thanks Showy Smile

Gemzybelle · 21/10/2014 13:57

Never actually looked on netmums before - it's very gaudy isn't it

JustScreamNobHurts · 21/10/2014 13:59

Netmums refer to us as the Dark Side.

MrsTerryPratchett · 21/10/2014 14:00

niiiice mumsnetters, caaalm mumsnetters He he he.

headinhands · 21/10/2014 14:02

It's all a bit English vs French isn't it? They rib each other but it's all fun. (Isn't it?)

JustScreamNobHurts · 21/10/2014 14:05

I certainly think we should do some sort of orientation thread for newbies.

((Hugs)).... For strictest emergencies
...... Another Mnetter thinks highly of you
"Aren't you amazing?" ..... Another Mnetter thinks your a cunt
...... The majority of posters on this thread feel you need . utilise the Mnet search system.

cornishmaia · 21/10/2014 14:06

Hi used to be, sorry to everyone if I have caused offense. I will try harder to uphold the honour of mumsnet (-I got it right!) Is there a site vow of allegiance? And if not then can we have one?

ScreamingSmegs · 21/10/2014 14:14

I don't think we hate them, do we?

Not like we hate Matthew Wright and the Daily Mail, anyway.

And some MNers don't even hate them.

MrsTerryPratchett · 21/10/2014 14:21

I don't think I hate them, just patronise and pity them. Bless. Also, their format gives me migraines.

AWombWithoutAFoof · 21/10/2014 14:24

Welcome cornish, a beautiful entrance made there, on a par with coming out of the toilet with your skirt in your pants.

There isn't a vow of allegiance as such, you just need to swear quite a bit, have a strongly held view on parking in parent and child spaces, and never refer to your children as little man / princess / bubs / cheeky chappy or anything remotely endearing.

Welcome Cornish, all my above terms above should never be used btw (by the way) Thanks

AWombWithoutAFoof · 21/10/2014 14:27

And no, we don't hate the nethuns really. As my dear departed mother would say, "more to be pitied than laughed at".

BlackeyedSusan · 21/10/2014 14:28

now that was some entrance... one way to get noticed!

i accidently typed the wrong version into a search engine having had a parenting website recommended by the HV etc. bloody glad I did. saves a fortune on paracetamol.

PumpkinsMummy · 21/10/2014 14:28

I was a nethun before I discovered the light. Yes, there seems to be a view on there that MNers are all vulgar, squabbling, swearing beasts. It's mostly true which is why I like it Grin.

Nethuns is full of rainbow unicorns, people flinging around hugs and kisses like a wife swappers party and they all have ridiculous tickers that tell everyone how many minutes pregnant they are or how old each perfect ickle child they have is.

Personally I find this site more supportive in a practical humorous way, and also seems much more genuine.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 21/10/2014 14:29

Vow of allegance: pop to Sainsbos, do a bit of cake punching, call someone an enormous cunt and do drunk-posting.

Never send hugs and never, ever, sign off with a kiss.

You'll be fine.

x

PinkSquash · 21/10/2014 14:29

I was gonna say they should be pitied rather than hated. I do think they're scared of us.

Trying to bring on a spat is bad form. We can tell you to fuck off, they can't.

JerseySpud · 21/10/2014 14:32
