To be totally baffled (Ched Evans related)

Just reading in the guardian that Ched Evans has applied to the Criminal Cases Review Commission to review his case. That's fine because it is part of our due process and legal system.

However, in the article it points out that his girlfriend's father is paying for appeal barristers, private detectives and even offering a reward for information in order to help his appeal. Why would you do that? Why would you put up so much money to protect a person who at best (from their perspective at least) cheated on your daughter in a rather deplorable fashion and at worst a rapist? Why would got want your daughter to be with such a person?

I really don't understand.

I'll see if I can get the link to work.

If she just wanted money she could have sold a three in a bed romp story to the Star. They could hardly deny it.

Yes she'd have been named but it'd be a three day wonder compared to what she's gone through.

AnyFucker · 20/10/2014 18:26

3 to be honest, no one gives a fuck what your opinion is (apart from your fellow fantasists of course)

The jury convicted him of rape. Unless his appeal is successful and his conviction is quashed, that is the way it will continue to stand.

Quote from the rapist Ched Evans here:
"‘I am very lucky my girlfriend Tasha has stood by me. She knows I am not capable of rape."
"'I really thought it would have been thrown out of court. I was stunned when I was convicted. I had done nothing wrong.’"

Hmm Innocent? Nothing wrong? Yes, coz even leaving aside the rape, he behaved like a real gent, didn't he?

YonicScrewdriver · 20/10/2014 18:48

This is an interesting article from the time of the original trial. I hadn't realised that they both walked back to Evans's house afterwards.

The worst thing he has done is "cheat". According to him and his desperado girlfriend.

What a grim lifestyle.

purplefeathers · 20/10/2014 18:57

myempire yes, you're right about the revealing of her identity. The fewer people who know the better. I just hope that the police are on the case and those responsible will face the consequence.

YonicScrewdriver · 20/10/2014 18:58

Well, AF, that's the worst thing he's done to anyone who actually matters to him.

Sad
purplefeathers · 20/10/2014 18:59

I bet it wasn't the first time he'd cheated. Or 'cheated' for that matter. Hmm

MrSheen · 20/10/2014 19:29

I hadn't realised that they both walked back to Evans's house afterwards

Well that's odd, given that Evans said he booked the room for McDonald to sleep in. Wonder how they explained that one away.

LadyLuck10 · 20/10/2014 19:51

I'm surprised she's 25. I thought she was at least 35. She seems to be enjoying the attention, always a smug look on her face.

sashh · 20/10/2014 19:53

I think his girlfriend is very young and naive. I'm not excusing her but I really save my disgust for Evans, his mother and his girlfriend's father.

I thought that until I read some of the things she put on twitter.

I was quite surprised to see the Tweets and Facebook messages the victim sent days after the rape took place, which were shortly deleted

That may or may not have been sent by her and have no baring on what he did that night. Don't forget they were sent after the rape.

The footballers both maintain that the victim consented and that she was capable of giving consent. The victim cannot recall what happened.

Imagine you are 19, you are small, from the CCTV at least a ft smaller than Clayton, and that was in heels, you are semi conscious, you are drunk, so drunk you left your bag in a kebab shop and didn't notice, you are naked. There are two men in the room with you, there are another two looking through the window jeering. Even if you were asked (which the rapist and his friend say didn't happen) could you really say 'no'?

YonicScrewdriver · 20/10/2014 19:54

Yy sash.

AnyFucker · 20/10/2014 19:59

25 is old enough to know better

Everyotherfreckle · 20/10/2014 20:07

What did his girlfriend say on Twitter?

CrumpleHornedSnorkack · 20/10/2014 20:12

At 25 (less than ten years ago) I was well established in a professional job, married and with a mortgage. 25 is not young nor an excuse for being naive.

AnyFucker · 20/10/2014 20:25

as ever, this website gets it spot on

I don't think so. The rejection of request for appeal also declined reduction from five years to four as four to eight years was the sentence band and five was deemed proportionate.

AnyFucker · 20/10/2014 21:10

this case report has a lot of information

quite

PuffinsAreFicticious · 21/10/2014 00:38

The girlfriend, mother and sister have been busy, um, strenuously refuting anyone on twitter who suggested that Ched Evans is a rapist. Very strenuously. And then blocking them.

PhaedraIsMyName · 21/10/2014 01:22

I can't understand these women at all. If my son and one of his friends had picked up a girl and treated her like this I'd be horrified even if there had been no question of it being rape.

In saying that I don't necessarily think no strings threesomes are necessarily wrong if that is genuinely what all three wanted.

It's the callousness and misogyny of just using her and leaving her alone, knowing she was so drunk, and the vile mates trying to photograph it which would have me reading the riot act even if I had no doubt she had consented.

differentnameforthis · 21/10/2014 04:41

Focusing on the tweets etc, saying she 'expected' to win big because of this case is bollox.

IF she wanted money, she could have simply had sex with him & sold her story to any one of the red top trashy tabloids or 'celeb' magazines. Rebecca Loos style.

WHY do what she did if it was all about money? She didn't even say she had been raped, the police investigation came to that conclusion.

IF she wanted money, why not kiss & tell....it's pretty lucrative! And less hassle than "crying rape" (not that she did that!)

differentnameforthis · 21/10/2014 04:52

The jury was told yesterday that while the alleged attack happened, Jack Higgins, an associate of the footballers, and Ryan Roberts, Evans's brother, had watched through a window. Video recordings found on Mr Higgins's phone showed that he had been filming or trying to the film the incident.

Here

Mummy raised 2 lovely boys didn't she? A rapist & a voyeur. Urgh...who the fuck watches his brother have sex of kind!!
