To take the puppy and go to bed?

I am having a shit week. My gallbladder is ruining my life, my boiler broke and the plumber can't come out for weeks, the washing machine is leaking, work is a pita and depressing me as always and to top it off my car engine is now being twatty and playing up.

I am ill, depressed and skint. It's also my birthday tomorrow and dp bought me a gorgeous beagle puppy as a surprise. He wants to go for dinner too. I am not in the mood, plus I can't fucking eat anything due to this bastarding gallbladder, so would be a waste of time, though I am very happy about the puppy. He says I shouldn't be so miserable on my birthday.

Aibuto just want to take the puppy to bed with me and stay there all night?

No, you do what makes you happy (and most comfortable) it's your birthday, you're not well. Get your dh to pamper you.

AmazonGrace · 12/10/2014 17:31

And I think you should post a PUPPPPPY PICTURE! Grin

Gileswithachainsaw · 12/10/2014 17:32

Yanbu.

Puppy cuddles should be available on prescription Grin

fizzymittens · 12/10/2014 17:32

You poor thing. Hope that things pick up for you soon. Bit worried that your partner has presented you with a pup as a 'surprise' though - especially as your current circumstances don't sound great or ideal for a puppy.

WillWorkForMoney · 12/10/2014 17:32

Puppies really need to be let out every 20 minutes so might be worth leaving it downstairs with dp. But do take yourself off to bed and get some rest :)

diddl · 12/10/2014 17:36

You can't go out & leave puppy!!!!!

CaptainMorgansMistress · 12/10/2014 17:42

Dear god, he bought you a BEAGLE? As a surprise?

Well at least all your other problems will now pale into insignificance when compared to the nightmare that is being a beagle owner.

NatJon · 12/10/2014 17:44

Cheers

Beagles are delicious little dogs but I do hope that you are ready for the full on experience of being a Beagle pup owner. They are hounds after all....

DollyDreamboat · 12/10/2014 17:49

God almighty, can't you people give her a break? Telling her how awful beagles are is not helping.

sonjadog · 12/10/2014 17:57

Puppies pee. You may shortly be regretting taking him to bed with you.

How about making a paper ball and you and your puppy playing with it downstairs near the door to the garden so puppy can pee outside after getting overexcited?

sonjadog · 12/10/2014 17:58

Also, don't go out and leave him on his first night in your house. It will be terrifying for him being there alone.

PiperIsOrange · 12/10/2014 18:06

Go to bed without the puppy.

I hope you are going to get pet insurance, regardless of how skint you are.

ChippingInLatteLover · 12/10/2014 18:14

Don't go to bed, you'll end up being awake half the night surely?

Tell DH you are ill, you hurt and feel crap, birthday tomorrow or not!

Now, this puppy, I'm sure it's cute, but a surprise puppy? Really? Do either of you know how much work Beagles are?

julieann42 · 12/10/2014 18:42

I have a beagle...he's great! He hasn't been much trouble at all...though he does love eating shoes, bras, socks and headphones...just don't leave anything lying around, it's been a great way of making the kids tidy up after themselves!

Sallystyle · 12/10/2014 18:46

Oh dear, you are going to get flamed here.

You are skint but have a puppy. A surprise puppy, a Beagle at that.

This thread will not end well ;)

I hope you feel better soon Flowers

gentlehoney · 12/10/2014 18:47

You cant go out and leave a new puppy, and the last thing you want to encourage is beagle-howling.
Only put your dog in bed with you if you want him there for the next fifteen years. (I would)

Hurr1cane · 12/10/2014 18:48

I'm sure they talked about getting a dog first and decided on the type of dog they liked. Getting a 'surprise' puppy doesn't mean they haven't first spoken about it.

TSSDNCOP · 12/10/2014 18:48

God I'd love a Beagle.

Puppies are the total best. Sniff him OP, does he have that warm puppy smell.

NatJon · 12/10/2014 18:48

Wonderful thanks.

Yes, you can't leave a new puppy for the evening. They need to feel secure when they first move homes as everything is big and scary.

So you have to go sleep with the puppy!

TSSDNCOP · 12/10/2014 18:51

And sniff him U2. Sniffing a puppy would make anyone feel better.

Happy Birthday OP Flowers feel better xx

post a picture of the beagle puppy

NatJon · 12/10/2014 18:52

To answer a few questions-

Yes, of course I'm going to get pet insurance.

No, I don't know how 'hard work' beagles can be, but why does that mean we shouldn't have one?

I am skint because the boiler, washing machined bad car now needs fixed.

To be fair to dp we talked a while ago about getting a beagle and forgot about it

gentlehoney · 12/10/2014 18:52

U2, there is no reason to think that they are too skint to look after the beagle or cant afford insurance.
"skint" means different things to different people, and beagles are not cheap so presumably they are solvent.

OP, enjoy your hound. I hope you are feeling better soon.

Humansatnav · 12/10/2014 18:52

Firstly HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!. secondly have some Flowers , gallbladder pain is undesirable.
Thirdly, I am soooo Envy of you getting a puppy. Piccie please Smile
