To wonder what the oddest response you've ever received on Mumsnet has been?

Have you ever received a really strange response to a post on here?

I remember about a year ago posting about someone at work who talked constantly about her child, on and on and was I being unreasonable to find it a bit very annoying. I got the usual mix of YABU, YANBU, all perfectly logical responses. Then someone posted 'YABU. Maybe she's nervous', disappeared and never posted again on the thread Confused.

Just wondering what odd or illogical responses you've had to posts on here?

I'm obsessed with posters that NC to stir.

Cowards.

firsttimerose · 10/10/2014 17:43

I don't see it as stirring, it's more an observation.

If it was me who was identified I don't think people would be sticking up for me - which is fine, as I'm more than capable of sticking up for myself, as I'm sure Mintyy is.

People like prolific posters I guess because they feel like they know them and they are much less likely to be a troll, so they have more trust. Maybe people feel like they are sticking up for a friend which is why it happens - I don't know, but it's the same on most forums.

firsttimerose · 10/10/2014 17:45

Cowards.

If you want to call me a coward then fine.

I reserve the word coward for things slightly more seriously than observations.

wooooosualsuspect · 10/10/2014 17:46

If anyone came on this thread and said 'hang on, that's me you are slagging off' I would stick up for them.

Derleth · 10/10/2014 17:47

No one mentioned Mintyy until Mintyy herself did Confused

Is there not a rule on mn about derailing threads?

wooooosualsuspect · 10/10/2014 17:53

Veiled references to other posters are not that hard to work out.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 10/10/2014 17:53

No there isnt. Sorry

wooooosualsuspect · 10/10/2014 17:54

No, Pretty, there isn't.

HTH

Derleth · 10/10/2014 17:55

That's the fun of threads like this, surely Everyone knows that sooner or later a bunfight is going to spark off.

firsttimerose · 10/10/2014 17:55

A rule about derailing?

I think most threads would be deleted if there was.

MrsVamos · 10/10/2014 17:55

Derailing ? No rules, thank goodness.

I would have been banned years ago.

wooooosualsuspect · 10/10/2014 17:57

This thread had bunfight written all over it.

Why do you think I'm on it Grin

PrettyPictures92 · 10/10/2014 17:58

Bugger :-/ this was a funny thread to start with too. For what it's worth, I think no one should bitch about specific people. "Nasty and prickly" was unacceptable, if you've a problem with someone take it up with them directly instead of slating them on a forum (regardless of if you think they won't be identified or not).

On the other, bun fights are a bit tedious. Continuing it (I'm looking at you zebra/rose) is pointless and childish.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 10/10/2014 17:58

All the thread was was a chance for people to bitch "anonymously" about people who had annoyed them really.

wooooosualsuspect · 10/10/2014 17:59

Hello MrsV

PrettyPictures92 · 10/10/2014 18:00

It was actually a different forum I'm on that had this rule about derailing (just remembered why I thought that was a rule). And since it was an ahem adult site I suddenly feel all Blush about mentioning it

MrsVamos · 10/10/2014 18:01

Hi usual

Derailers unite !

PrettyPictures92 · 10/10/2014 18:01

Not that I meant mn wasn't an adult site!! Other on is just a different sort of adult site :s

MrsVamos · 10/10/2014 18:02

Ooh, Pretty.

An adult site that you couldn't derail on ?

Was it missionary only ? Grin

PrettyPictures92 · 10/10/2014 18:04

More "kinky only" Grin they were very strict about not changing the subject on it

MrsVamos · 10/10/2014 18:05

MN is an ahem adult site ?

Is it ?

Dearie me.

I've clearly not been invited to that part of Talk. Shock

firsttimerose · 10/10/2014 18:05

Oh the irony .....

PrettyPictures92 · 10/10/2014 18:05

And oh god, that now sounds like I was on some sort of sex site. It wasn't really, it was a discussion forum. No hanky panky happening Grin

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 10/10/2014 18:06

No clean talk allowed! I like it
