To wonder what the oddest response you've ever received on Mumsnet has been?

Have you ever received a really strange response to a post on here?

I remember about a year ago posting about someone at work who talked constantly about her child, on and on and was I being unreasonable to find it a bit very annoying. I got the usual mix of YABU, YANBU, all perfectly logical responses. Then someone posted 'YABU. Maybe she's nervous', disappeared and never posted again on the thread Confused.

Just wondering what odd or illogical responses you've had to posts on here?

zebra it almost sounds like you want there to be a big fight here

Vintagejazz · 10/10/2014 13:48

I agree. Seriously Zebra, I think the disagreement has probably run its course.
Any chance we could return to the topic of the thread?

TheSpottedZebra · 10/10/2014 13:55

Gosh no I am not spoiling for a fight at all. I just don't like the status quo, whereby lots of people are chipping in to have a go at bendy - who has already stated her discomfort - when they could more accurately niggle at me, who said more. Except l clearly don't give a toss, so i so I don't make such a good kickee.

Apologies if his squabble has derailed/soured the thread.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 10/10/2014 13:58

noone was kicking anyone though.

people were pretty nice to bendy tbh

HaroldLloyd · 10/10/2014 14:19

So spotty no one should use this thread to comment on things people have said that you think are off, unless of course it's mintyy who is fair game, and you did so yourself?

Double standards ahoy.

TheSpottedZebra · 10/10/2014 15:02

Not double standards no. As i said before, I didn't like bendy being singled out. By people who have no idea of what was originally said, and seem to have just joined the thread to add their voices to the criticism. But your criticising me evens it out a bit.

Anyway, you'll forgive me if I don't stay longer to defend myself, but am at work and probably ought not to be MNing.

ScrambledSmegs · 10/10/2014 15:10

I advise everyone does what I do. Post random crap totally related to the original OP and ignore any tangents in a blissfully oblivious manner.

Oh, BALLS, it's pissing it down and I have to do the school run.

ScrambledSmegs · 10/10/2014 15:12

Obviously I completely ignored my own advice there!

Um. People don't generally respond to me in an odd manner. Am I the odd one?

PrettyPictures92 · 10/10/2014 16:04

Scrambled you may just be Grin I had to do the school run in the pissing rain too. My dd loved it Grin

captainmummy · 10/10/2014 16:16

Ffs this thread is never going to be nominated for classics now!

firsttimerose · 10/10/2014 17:16

I think you get this on all forums that if a prolific has anything bad said about them they will have people falling over themselves to defend them, and the prolific poster can to an extent say whatever the hell they want without getting backlash.

I think if the poster wasn't identified as Mintyy and was someone no one had ever really heard of it wouldn't have turned into this argument.

But pretty much all forums are like that.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 10/10/2014 17:24

That's just nonsense.

It has never been acceptable to personally refer to posters and personally attack them on any thread and will always be net with condemnation whoever the poster.

wooooosualsuspect · 10/10/2014 17:26

You can say whatever the hell you want on MN if you NC...

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 10/10/2014 17:27

I think some people are trying to stir this up into some sort of petty regular attacking bunfight as usual. Tedious

wooooosualsuspect · 10/10/2014 17:29

If slagging off posters is acceptable maybe we should all have a shot at it.

That would be fun.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 10/10/2014 17:31

Could have a board especially for it.

Pagwatch · 10/10/2014 17:31

Nah' that's bollocks.

firsttimerose · 10/10/2014 17:34

Yep, everyone always reacts the same, trying to justify it.

I'm not saying either is right or wrong. The thread was titled 'unusual responses' and so it was always going to be about what a specific poster said.

Yeah the piss on chips comments was unnecessary, and I've not noticed it from Mintyy personally but I stand by what I said that if it wasn't Mintyy and an it was an unknown then the argument wouldn't be happening.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 10/10/2014 17:35

Yep definitely stirring.

firsttimerose · 10/10/2014 17:36

Usual you're obsessed with namechangers. I can change my name if I want to, I prefer to be unidentifiable.

I haven't been nasty about anyone on here.

What difference does it make? Even with your known username you're still an unknown face behind a computer screen.

MrsVamos · 10/10/2014 17:38

Getting back to the point of the thread.

Very boring, but I was told off for starting a thread about toothpaste. I was told AIBU was not the place for such a mundane topic.

In my defence it was an AIBU. And I wasn't. Smile

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 10/10/2014 17:39

There are different ways of being nasty

firsttimerose · 10/10/2014 17:39

Yep definitely stirring

No. I'm stating an opinion.

Which some will agree with and some will disagree.

firsttimerose · 10/10/2014 17:39

There are different ways of being nasty

Then please highlight how I have been nasty.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 10/10/2014 17:39

A stirry opinion.
