To have genuinely thought Center Parcs was enclosed in a giant bubble?

I am at a stage in my life where Center Parcs may be just the thing. But I had this idea that it was all under a giant (and yes it would have to be bloody ginormous) bubble, a la Eden Project.

I do not mean "metaphorical bubble of getting away from it all".

Was there some kind of advertising at some point that gave me this idea? DP thinks I'm barmy.

even if it were all under a massive dome it would still just be a holiday park, though

i mean, you wouldn't spend five days just staring up at the amazing massive dome, would you? you'd start doing all the activities on offer, which aren't any different to other holiday activities really, and you'd forget about the dome

Nope, I live in Scotland - I'd still be going, look, no rain at the end of the holiday, rofl.

I'll admit I hadn't really thought it out, but I did assume that being able to do outdoor type activities without rain was pretty much the point of it.

Once I'd looked into it as an adult obviously I realised my mistake, but I'd still rather have a dome.

I went and the fucking lake froze over.

The shed I stayed in had a thermostat which overnight automatically turned down to 13 degrees Celsius. We nearly died of hypothermia....I've never been so cold.

I bet she's one of those who pays for priority boarding with easyjet too

What is the point of that? As long as you turn up they don't go without you and it's still EasyJet.

Mind you my son and I usually get into a war of nerves with the 4 other remaining passengers who won't join the boarding queue until everyone else has gone through. . We know someone has to be last and we're not queuing if we don't have to.

I don't think she would pay for priority boarding, or a manky sandwich on the plane. I was amazed she went to CP because it's £££££s, and then the D&V-twice.

I am now gutted to find out it isn't under a dome. Not that I was ever planning to go but still.

I am loving how the 'it's NOT under a dome?' knowledge is now spreading, slowly, through millions of MNers. It's almost our civic duty to keep this in active convos ...

lonny i feel like CP need to make some sort of public service announcement! all those people they misled in the 80s. or maybe not, because it may be the source of their continuing to be in business!

Centre Parks is no more than a middle class Butlins! Went there last weekend, activities very overpriced - all you get for free is the pool.

I always thought they were under a dome too, a total disappointment to realise the truth!

To be fair, we have been quite a few times and although we aren't physically in a bubble whilst there, mentally and metaphorically we feel in one...very much away from it all. No idea why cos we aren't holiday camp people and I wouldn't have thought I'd have felt that way on a "complex" such as CP ...but I and hubby, and our late teens/early 20s kids do whenever we go...although I do think it is VERY expensive...we still go....cos we have such a good time! We don't even bother travelling far, just go to the one nearest to us, particularly as it means kids can join us after work etc

OMG YES! I also thought it was under a big dome and I have actually stayed at one! I just thought I hadn't been to the 'right one' or maybe I didn't explore enough to 'find the bubble bit'.

Next thing someone will post saying that Father Christmas isn't real and I'll get seriously freaked out.

Whinfell is lovely, and sherwood forest. Domes only over the "town centre" bit with restaurants and swimming I'm afraid! We loved the log cabins and the whole outdoors feel, even went in january for my birthday, was great! Been a total of 4 times now, 5 possibly even, loved them all. Yes it IS expensive, much more so compared to say a haven caravan holiday, which we have also done many times, but I know which one I prefer, center parcs is just nicer, and waaaay less noisy and it's just more for people who actually want to spend time with their family and children rather than having their children come sit with them while they go out on the piss.

I think there are lots of Havens aren't there? All different.

They might be all different but after the experience I had I'll never be trying one again!

I thought it was under a dome. That's how it was on the adverts.
