To have genuinely thought Center Parcs was enclosed in a giant bubble?

I am at a stage in my life where Center Parcs may be just the thing. But I had this idea that it was all under a giant (and yes it would have to be bloody ginormous) bubble, a la Eden Project.

I do not mean "metaphorical bubble of getting away from it all".

Was there some kind of advertising at some point that gave me this idea? DP thinks I'm barmy.

I thought this too and when I got there found out it's just the centre.

bluetrain · 05/10/2014 14:34

this is hilarious! Grin

BlueThursday · 05/10/2014 14:36

Another one who thought it was a big bubble!

Hushabyelullaby · 05/10/2014 14:43

There was a thread a few months ago about things you'd always thought that turned out not to be the way you'd imagined it, and this was a common one. I always thought this too because the advert used to say 'the holiday the weather can't spoil'.

Hushabyelullaby · 05/10/2014 14:48

Thread is here

Hushabyelullaby · 05/10/2014 14:55

Oops wrong link!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 05/10/2014 15:32

IIRC it was advertised as "the British holiday that the weather can't spoil"

We have been 3 times (three weekend breaks) when the DC were little.
It rained every blardy time Hmm

It would have been nice if it was enclosed but the weather can't be helped .

PoirotsMoustache · 05/10/2014 15:34

I thought that too, right up until I read this thread! Blush

Only1scoop · 05/10/2014 15:35

Centre 'domes' Grin

UncleSue · 05/10/2014 15:41

Yes I thought so too.

Spindarella · 05/10/2014 15:44

Yep, I thought so too.

PuppyMonkey · 05/10/2014 15:52

I'm definitely going on Dragons' Den next series with this as my brilliant new business plan. The glass dome covering everything holiday park, I mean. Grin

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 05/10/2014 15:56

Me too. I was disappointed to find that it wasn't. I went on holiday with my parents as an older teen, because I wanted to stay in the dome. So disappointed to find it was just a posh holiday park.

We've been a few times since married with the dc but have been disappointed as I don't find they warrant the over inflated prices. Just to keep the riff Raff out Wink

Clarabumps · 05/10/2014 16:00

I thought this too. I blame early advertising.

HoVis2001 · 05/10/2014 16:05

WeAreEternal

That advert is AMAZING. Cheered me right up on an I'll Sunday afternoon...!

HoVis2001 · 05/10/2014 16:05

*ill. Sodding autocorrect.

Leela5 · 05/10/2014 16:08

I thought that the pool, restaurants and stuff were in the done but the cabins, horse riding etc were outside.

Someone up thread asked 'how would you breath?' Well it's all trees, like Silent Running.

ZivaMcGee · 05/10/2014 16:20

I went loads as a child. I then went (back) to longleat as an adult a few years ago and I was most disappointed by how small and crap the "subtropical swimming paradise" was. I'm sure it was much more exciting before.

Trollsworth · 05/10/2014 16:25

Er, so did I! If its not, I'm not going. I was looking forward to having a microclimate, if its not real I'm going to Blackpool.

BerniceBroadside · 05/10/2014 16:25

This is almost as brilliant as my colleague's sister who thought the channel tunnel was built on top of the seabed, like some sort of drive through aquarium.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 05/10/2014 16:29

Well it's all trees, like Silent Running

Exactly!!

Grin
steps2change · 05/10/2014 16:32

Have to say I did think the channel tunnel was drive-through (not with see-through walls though, that would freak everyone out) - DP had to gather together a lot of proof to convince me there is some kind of train people drive onto? Still not wholly convinced...

Anyway, that is another issue Grin

Say what?
It's not a tunnel under the Sea?
