AIBU?

To have genuinely thought Center Parcs was enclosed in a giant bubble?

I am at a stage in my life where Center Parcs may be just the thing. But I had this idea that it was all under a giant (and yes it would have to be bloody ginormous) bubble, a la Eden Project.

I do not mean "metaphorical bubble of getting away from it all".

Was there some kind of advertising at some point that gave me this idea? DP thinks I'm barmy.

I only recently found out there was no giant glass dome at CP when discussing it with a friend. I'd rationalised that there was no bubble over the chalets and forest.

You drive your car onto a train. Then the train takes you.

I also thought it was all under a dome until this thread revealed otherwise Shock

Oh I definitely thought that. I've never been to one and never will.

So should we all be going to the Eden Project instead? Is that a dome? A proper dome??

I thought this too

The ad had a bubble with a water slide sticking out didn't it?

Dh was disappointed it was not under a bubble but consoled himself it was like westworld and even the ducks were robots

Oh come on now. You can't casually throw that line in and leave all us giant domers now pondering about robot ducks.

Hmm I see what you mean about the advert. But still, it would be too hot and horrible in there!

I have never seen those adverts because I wasn't born until 1988.

I've been to the Eden Project. That's good. It's a dome, but it's not big enough to put a holiday park in. It's only the garden itself which is in the dome. We went a couple of years after it opened and thought it would probably be better when it had been open for another 10 or so years, the tropical jungle dome was pretty amazing but the other one was a bit rubbish.

I also thought a dome with micro climate . Why would you pay all that money and still get wet. I thought it was happy families cycling and woodland walks, How can you do activities if it rains.

I used to think the mast at Ally Pally in north London was the Eiffel Tower.

When it first opened 30 years ago I tought this. I do think the original ads must have been misleading.

I have to admit I also thought they were in a huge bubble too and the reason was to keep people dry when cycling in woods and doing truman show stuff. Blush

so what is the point of them then i thought you had 100% guranteed dry weather

Another one who thought they were in a bubble to fend off uk weather. Now have dc do was considering them despite the expense- but that's v expensive not to be protected from the weather. Or is that an embarrassing thing to say.

i think it was quite novel in its day. but there are lots of other options these days

We never went when DS was young as DH would have hated it, he hates being confined, he likes yomping in the Lake District type holidays. Obviously he wouldn't have been as confined as we thought. Grin

At one point I even thought there was fake sun in the dome so that you could get a tan too!
And no I'm not joking, I really thought that.

It is under a dome. I remember the adverts saying 'the only holiday the weather can't spoil'. If it's not under a dome then THE WEATHER WILL SPOIL IT.
