to think no one should own land and ignore a sign saying private woods

Ok o will probably get flamed here.

But there is a badly managed woods near me with am old broken sign that say private woods. Aibu to collect a few broken branches for the wood burner? I know it is stealing, but this woods is overgrown and I'm thinking how unethical it is for anyone to own land.

Land used to all be free, until someone carved it all up to hoard for themselves. If land was still free now maybe we wouldn't have to all be working such stupid hours wasting our lives doing a job we don't like.

Empty feilds are fields without trees growing in. The whole country used to be a forest.
OP, I'm struggling to keep up. We clear fields to grow food and build houses. I'm not sure what your argument is here.

itsbetter as far as I'm aware any dog who has bitten a human esp one that caused an injury bad enough to require stitches! And killed livestock will not be regimes by any responsible charity if they took him he'd have been pts...

Re the gun we have livestock and like to go shooting :-/ not really sure why we shouldn't have one or use it to protect our stock. I seriously doubt you'd pay us for all the damage this dogs done if we'd left him to it as his owners are certainly refusing

at badger eggs.

ThatBloodyWoman · 26/09/2014 14:47

Its all to cock in the countryside tbh.
Landowners I've known will carry on about protecting their woodland habitats when it comes to excluding the public, yet let the hunt go screaming through it......
I think its the contradictions that bemuse me.

Itsbetter - I'm glad you came back on this. If you are vegan then I see that you will have a particular view with regard to animals. It is interesting that presumably you refuse to keep any pets also, not only dogs.

The trouble is, the vast majority of people eat meat and/or use animal products. Until or unless everyone is vegan - and there are then very few animals around as a result - your question is still relevant.

'You say if you are choosing to murder anyway why should the dog not do it?'

Because that way causes more suffering and wastes the animals. If we as a society continue to raise animals for meat etc, then we should do our best to raise them well, look after their health, and cause them as little stress and suffering as possible when they die or are killed to be eaten.

Mitchy1nge · 26/09/2014 14:50

you can't 'murder' an animal since murder is the unlawful taking of human life only

I love this thread.

Does that include the bit you are borrowing for your house to stand on? You could always knock it down and let it go back to the forest if you wanted.

TunipTheUnconquerable · 26/09/2014 14:54

'Empty feilds are fields without trees growing in. The whole country used to be a forest'

It also used to be joined on to the Continent.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 26/09/2014 14:55

like feeding time at the zoo...
Do they feed the animals foraged blackberries then Hmm

Mmmnotsure · 26/09/2014 14:55

the whole country used to be a forest

Yes (largely) perhaps. And then they cut some trees down . . .

So they could build your house on the cleared land.

mls agree there are a lot of smug people on here who THINK they are absolutely hilarious and 'right on' when they are deep down just small 'c' conservatives in their thinking.

many thoughtful open minded people too, of course.

stubborn brilliant post!

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 26/09/2014 14:57

The whole country used to be a forest

It also used to be largely covered in great big ice sheets. Shall we go and dispossess the Sami for old times sake? I'm sure they won't miss a few raindeer!

Mitchy1nge · 26/09/2014 14:59

the main thing is that we had BEARS and WOLVES

why do things always CHANGE in a sad way :(

TunipTheUnconquerable · 26/09/2014 15:00

You wouldn't say that if you were being eaten by a wolf, Mitchy.

Mitchy1nge · 26/09/2014 15:01

I was raised by wolves.

Mitchy1nge · 26/09/2014 15:02

what would one say in that situation? ouch? get off my land?

TunipTheUnconquerable · 26/09/2014 15:02
Envy

Do you still howl at the moon?

MehsMum · 26/09/2014 15:02

We'd have space for bears and wolves if we had fewer people in the country. Like they do in America.

weegiemum · 26/09/2014 15:03

Wonder what OP thinks of community ownership? I'm one of several hundred people who own this land as part of a community trust (no longer live there full time but we were part of the initial community buyout from the owner.

You can go pretty much where you like, but you do need to be aware of blood-sucking midges, bottomless peat bog and drinking out of streams with dead sheep in them!

But if you get shot in the arse by a deer stalker it's only you to blame, our signs are big and new Grin

VSeth · 26/09/2014 15:05

My DH loves a good forage in the garden/bush.

Should we try to get Wolves back to the Shires?
