to think no one should own land and ignore a sign saying private woods

Ok o will probably get flamed here.

But there is a badly managed woods near me with am old broken sign that say private woods. Aibu to collect a few broken branches for the wood burner? I know it is stealing, but this woods is overgrown and I'm thinking how unethical it is for anyone to own land.

Land used to all be free, until someone carved it all up to hoard for themselves. If land was still free now maybe we wouldn't have to all be working such stupid hours wasting our lives doing a job we don't like.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 26/09/2014 15:07

Mehs
But the bears would eat all the sodding blackberries and then where would we be?

midgeymum2 · 26/09/2014 15:07

Of course mineral rights exist! How do you think sand, gravel, coal, oil, china clay etc etc are extracted?!

TunipTheUnconquerable · 26/09/2014 15:08

Do you think OP would let us frack under her house?

ThatBloodyWoman · 26/09/2014 15:09

I knew the next post would be about fracking......!

TunipTheUnconquerable · 26/09/2014 15:10

MehsMum · 26/09/2014 15:11

Weegiemum, Envy

MiscellaneousAssortment · 26/09/2014 15:12

Sounds like a line from a Levellers song :)

ThatBloodyWoman · 26/09/2014 15:13

I don't pick blackberries at dog height.
If they're at dog height, they're at dog pee height.
They're welcome to 'em...

WaywardOn3 · 26/09/2014 15:14

VSeth they've already tried but the idea has been poo pood by many

Have you looked at the uk wolf conservation trust? :-)

DontDrinkAndFacebook · 26/09/2014 15:16

Well if your justification is that it's unethical to own land, then why stop at nicking bits of wood from a patch of private woodland? why not become a full time cat burglar in the 3 bed semis of Pinner? Confused

mls3 · 26/09/2014 15:16

agree there are a lot of smug people on here who THINK they are absolutely hilarious and 'right on' when they are deep down just small 'c' conservatives in their thinking.

many thoughtful open minded people too, of course.

Yes sorry there are many thoughtful people with very interesting points. Sadly sometimes the ones that shout the loudest / rudest overshadow them.

Don't take it personally, op.
Keep the faith, and may your fire burn bright.

iK8 · 26/09/2014 15:23

Yeah, yeah op. But badger nests! Badger nests! Grin Grin Grin

ArsenicFaceCream · 26/09/2014 15:25

I want to know what a headhog is. I'm picturing one of those pig's heads escaped from its platter and busily building a nest.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 26/09/2014 15:29

OP

If you had wanted a debate you could have easily started a thread entitled
"Does the private ownership of land perpetuate inequality in modern society?"
or
"To what extent does the private ownership of land conflict with environmental protection?"
etc.

Not
"All property is theft so I can go and filch some wood from my neighbour's land and its their fault anyway because I don't think they are looking after it."

Its really not hard to spot the difference between the two possible approaches.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 26/09/2014 15:29

You are spot on, Arsenic - it becomes a worry when the badgers swoop down from their nests and interbreed with the headhogs.

ThatBloodyWoman · 26/09/2014 15:31

One of these, maybe?

to think no one should own land and ignore a sign saying private woods
Dressingdown1 · 26/09/2014 15:32

OP it's not true that we don't own the mineral or extraction rights. Some people do, some don't, depending on the history of the ownership of their property, where it is etc

iK8 · 26/09/2014 15:32

Does it make a difference if the badge bought his nest or reclaimed it for the people?

iK8 · 26/09/2014 15:33

Badge? That makes it sound like we're friends. Badger.

My iPad hates badgers :(

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 26/09/2014 15:33

I thought "headhogs" were the middle class version of "head lice".

"Dahhhling Jocasta doesn't have common head lice - no she has head hogs. We had to specially import organic cold pressed butterfly nut oil from the Amazon to get rid of them. Obviously, they only like very clean and well nourished hair which is why little 'casta is such a target."

wobblyweebles · 26/09/2014 15:34

OP you need to move to Maine. 99% of it is forest. You'd love it.

Of course if you trespass you'll either get shot or run over by a logging truck on your way back out...
