Bear with me please as I think maybe I, m over reacting I dont know. In my bathroom upstairs I have white vinyl tiles on the floor and I am pretty anal about keeping them clean and the toilet. Once a day normally mid morning I clean and bleach the toilet then I wipe the floor with disinfectant wipes. Its just me and my son who is eleven.
In the last two days something weird has been happening in the bathroom please dont laugh as its scarying me. We always and visitors take shoes off downstairs never go upstairs in shoes. But for some reason there have been footprints and hairs on the bathroom floor, tiny curly black hairs. Its not from my son as he is not hairy and its not from me because I use hair remover and did this two weeks ago.
I get a gut feeling that somebody is doing this or maybe my mind is losing the plot. But I, m racking my brains as to a reasonable explaination. I know I must sound deranged but something is not right

I would just hide. But if you're too scared, then what about leaving baby oil all over the floor? They will leave oily footprints however they're getting in...and possibly fall over too.

Putmedownsaidthefish · 24/09/2014 21:37

How strange. Tbh that would freak me out a little! Can you narrow down what time of day they are appearing?

ithoughtofitfirst · 24/09/2014 21:38

Grin love this thread.

The phantom pube mystery.

Putmedownsaidthefish · 24/09/2014 21:39

Xpost a massively as I didn't refresh. The case thing is odd!

Putmedownsaidthefish · 24/09/2014 21:40

Vase!

fragileyourock · 24/09/2014 21:43

Not a wind up the taps running it made me totally crap myself and I ran out of the house and sat in my car and called the police. Thing is the vase was big with those fake big flowers in it and the vase was not even smashed or chipped and the flowers were as they were when I lefted them. The vase was placed on its side in the sink.

Are you going to do my baby oil trick? You could smear a thin layer all over the floor, leave and then see what's what.

Warn your son...tell him some flannel like "It's a special floor polish that needs to soak in..." he'll be none the wiser!

ScarlettDarling · 24/09/2014 21:45

This is utterly bizarre and yes, I'd be freaked out too. I'd be leaving little 'traps' all over the house to try to identify where the feet were coming from!! Mystery!

HoneyTits · 24/09/2014 21:52

So if the shoes are leaving black marks the floor must be wet? So either the footprints are appearing not long after you've washed the floor or someone is wetting the floor either from the sink or bath/shower. Is there any evidence of the sink or bath being used (apart from the time you've found the taps running-which would freak me out by the way!)

fragileyourock · 24/09/2014 21:54

May try the baby oil trick, good advice. Deep in my gut this doesnt sit right in all honesty and jokes aside. It was only at the beginning of the year that I was given a panic alarm by an agency and fitted by the police in my house. I sound like a thriller novel but a male was seen laying underneath my car late at night on my driveway. When he came out from under my car because he was disturbed he was wearing a balaclaver. I have my suspicions as to who it can be and I think that this person maybe behind this aswell and thats why its freaking me out so much.

I think the first step is to change your locks then. :(

YesIDidMeanToBeSoRudeActually · 24/09/2014 22:01

Can you buy a cheap mobile that records, or a dictaphone and leave it running in the bathroom out of sight?

No other advice, but I do feel for you. 13 years ago when DH worked nights and I was on my own in our flat, the electric shower turned itself on in early hours and woke me up. I have honestly never been so terrified in my life, I felt like I was in a horror movie when I went to check it (had to go past bathroom to phone or front door, there appeared to be no one else there) and DH came home and checked everywhere, nothing. That could have been explained as an electrical blip, I don't know what yours is, but wanted to say I hope you get to the bottom of it.

YesIDidMeanToBeSoRudeActually · 24/09/2014 22:02

Is your house owned or rented? Did you have the locks changed when you moved in or after the event in your last (a bit drip feedy!) post?

Hairtodaygonetomorrow · 24/09/2014 22:02

fragile sorry about my username, it is not designed to be relevant to this thread at all, but I don't want to change it right this second- what did the police say? If you have an ongoing issue with stalking/threat then this is much more serious than if say you didn't and your son has just tried cutting his pubes.

I would call the police day or night if you feel under threat as they already know your history.

7Days · 24/09/2014 22:03

That does sound worrying.

You should definitely get a nanny cam thing, in that case.

Have you a burglar alarm, or a kind of phone watch system you can subscribe to that tells you when someone has entered?

YesIDidMeanToBeSoRudeActually · 24/09/2014 22:03

Sorry that sounded a lot snarker than I meant it to be, it's actually very scary OP.

Hairtodaygonetomorrow · 24/09/2014 22:04

And- when are you out in the day? When could someone be entering and how? As others have said, I would be changing your locks or getting the police involved to beef up your security if you think there's a realistic threat. It is a little drip-feedy to mention this later and not in your original post.

PersonOfInterest · 24/09/2014 22:06

Are they pubes? Shaved? Can u put something (spy style) on the door to see if it's been opened? E.g. stick a hair across the door/door,frame. Do you have an alarm? Is it rented? Have, the, locks been changed since you moved in?

fragileyourock · 24/09/2014 22:07

Not my intention to drip feed my apologies im not thinking straight at the moment feeling panicky. Can you do that on any phone 7days. The person I think it could be loves nothing more than terrorising me.

OP posts:
fragileyourock · 24/09/2014 22:08

House is rented and the locks have been recently changed due to somebody sticking metal in the chub lock and I couldnt get in

OP posts:
PersonOfInterest · 24/09/2014 22:09

Ok, creepy. Change your locks! Get an alarm.

OhMyArsingGodInABox · 24/09/2014 22:09

You've had a man in a balaclava hiding under a car , metal stuck in your lock and now footprints in the bathroom?

Call the police. It's not you.

PersonOfInterest · 24/09/2014 22:10

Back door?

7Days · 24/09/2014 22:11

I don't know Fragile

I'm in Ireland and we have a Phone Watch type of burglar alarm you can get through Eircom (like BT) - if your alarm goes off they ring a key holder or failing that, the police. Maybe you can search for something similar there. Probably pricey, though but worth a look.

Chewbecca · 24/09/2014 22:12

Are you sure it is not from DS's socks? Has he new ones this term?
