Wibu to take ds to a&e?

Ds 3yo has a sudden temp of 38.9° having gone up from 38.7° at 6 pm, calpol hasn't helped any and he isn't fully waking up but he's been throwing up while half awake and sort of choking on it. He's really pale and hot to touch, shivery but not clammy.

Phoned nhs24 and they said to monitor him over night and arrange an out of hours visit to hospital tomorrow. But he's not waking up properly to be sick, I'm petrified he's going to choke and kill himself if I fall asleep and his temp is climbing.

Wibu to take him to a&e even though the nhs24 doctor person said not to? His not being able to wake properly is scaring me, he's never had so much as d&v before, apart from colds he's always very healthy so i might be over reacting?

You so did the right thing OP, taking him to A&E but you know that now don't you! A child who can't be roused would scare me whitless and it's worrying that the NHS phone line suggested that you should stay at home. Is there a way to give feedback without an actual complaint?

So pleased DS is improving. A friend of mine literally collapsed and was unconscious from an ear infection, moments after she had returned from driving the school drop off. She was in hospital for 10 days and felt really lousy for even longer.

Oh hurrah, glad he's been doing better - are you home yet?

PrettyPictures92 · 23/09/2014 16:52

He's home Grin still a bit grumpy and still needing antibiotics but well enough to no longer need to stay in hospital. He's currently laying on the sofa hogging the tv and making me and dd run around after him. (Dd was in tears of happiness when he came home, now she wishes he would go back to hospital cause he keeps shouting at her Grin )
