No gloating.
No blaming.

Just appreciation for a huge turnout and a peaceful process.

It's weird isn't it Rose, almost as if No voters don't feel they have to hide anymore.

IfNotNowThenWhen · 19/09/2014 09:34

I'm just relieved for purely selfish reasons. We would have had a Tory government in England for ever. In fact, if Scotland had left I would have begged them to take the north of England with them. Having said that, I did feel a bit disappointed as well when I switched on the news because it's so rare that voting brings real change.

EarthWindFire · 19/09/2014 09:34

And Statisically I think you were talking about starting a new political party last night? If you do, count me in

And me

Fontella · 19/09/2014 09:35

Lucky

Why do you keep going on about 'Cameron'

This is far, far bigger than Cameron. He's a there today, gone tomorrow politician who could be voted out of office next May.

This is about the people, one vote and using it and Scotland showed us all how it's done yesterday. All of you the 'yesses' and the 'nos'. Every single one of you.

The OP asked 'No Gloating, No Blaming' and the time has surely come for that to stop?

Bitching on about Cameron isn't going to achieve anything. Cameron has been in office for four years - he isn't responsible for all this. This are issues that go back decades, some would argue centuries.

You aren't going to achieve anything by demonising a politician and still talking about 'us' and 'them' in the way you are. We are all in this together. The English will now want to have their say and so they should. And us Welsh and those in Northern Ireland .. and by that I don't just mean the politicians, I mean the people. You watch the turn outs at the elections next year skyrocket. You've shown us how it's done, and now it's up to us - not to get one over on the Scots or the English or any of that nonsense, but just to get a political system that is fair and just for ALL the people who have to share these islands.

cherrybombxo · 19/09/2014 09:36

I feel physically sick to my stomach. I reserve the right to be angry, disappointed and sickened for the next few days.

Luckytwo · 19/09/2014 09:36

Wildthong. I am just amazed that people might believe that Cameron cares about Scotland. He was about to go down in history as the man who lost the union. That's his agenda. Now he has to appease the rest of the uk which will mean in my opinion that lip service will be paid to new powers for Scotland, the tactic that may have swayed the voters in the end.
I wasn't meaning to come across as patronising or anything else.
I don't think there will be a backlash in England, but I do think the Westminster parliament has a job to do to convince the English, welsh and northern Irish that they are equally as important. So any new powers will reflect what happens there in the run up to next May.

EarthWindFire · 19/09/2014 09:37

Of course you do Cherry Thanks

cherrybombxo · 19/09/2014 09:38

EarthWindFire thank you Smile Flowers

We have always discussed a post Indyref meet up. Might be nice once the dust has settled

StatisticallyChallenged · 19/09/2014 09:39

Of course cherrybomxo.

WildThong · 19/09/2014 09:41

lucky
I know what you mean. I personally don't give a fig if he 'cares' about us as long as he does his job for the whole of the UK. All politicians are agenda driven, some they win, some they lose. I think that he is in for a rocky ride from all sides now because what we (Scotland) get, then the other nations also deserve equally. The next GE will reflect the job he does in the next year or so.

cherrybombxo · 19/09/2014 09:41

It's strange but I'm so disappointed I actually feel like I could burst into tears. I've never been so affected by something like this and I didn't realise just how much I wanted it.

Flowers to all the yes voters, fair play to the no people.

EarthWindFire · 19/09/2014 09:42

Yes it would be nice, if I can Smile

StatisticallyChallenged · 19/09/2014 09:43

cherrybombxo, it's not strange at all. If the result had been the other way round I have no doubt I would have been crying this morning. It's a huge thing

howdoyousolvethisproblem · 19/09/2014 09:44

Funny cedricsneer that's how I have felt abou being a yes voter. Not one no campaigner tried to convince me otherwise, in my town all I heard about was the stupidity of the yes campaigners. Well this morning I don't feel stupid, I feel proud for standing up and being counted, as should all Scots who put forward their vote. The turnout was amazing, I hope that we can hold on to that in the future.

Luckytwo · 19/09/2014 09:44

Yes wild. I agree. From a purely selfish perspective as a scot living in England I am delighted with the result, a fighting chance for a non Tory govt next time . Yay !
But I was watching with sadness over opportunity missed.

At least though, rbs has said they'll stay. A weight off :).

My heart goes out to you cherry. I know the sick feeling very well.

Look how far the yes vote came though. A year ago it looked unwinnable for yes, and it ended up right at the wire. There's no going back, change absolutely will happen.

cherrybombxo · 19/09/2014 09:54

MorrisZapp I felt weepy, weary and ready for bed by 8am this morning and my day hadn't even started yet! The Yes campaign fought well and I agree, change has to happen now that 45% of Scotland have stated that they're unhappy.

EarthWindFire · 19/09/2014 09:57

Things will change Cherry no voters want that too as do the rUK

The powers that be can't ignore everyone Wink

Thruaglassdarkly · 19/09/2014 10:02

If you ever go into politics, Font, I'd vote for you :)

Veritata · 19/09/2014 10:06

I find it depressing how some people are already talking about vote rigging. How on earth would you rig half a million votes, ffs?

Clarabum · 19/09/2014 10:09

I'm gutted. I looked at my son(asd) this morning and wondered what his future will look like with every penny being squeezed out of the NHS and sold off to private companies. I'm saddened it has come to this.
No words really to describe how upset I am.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 19/09/2014 10:23

Aww Clara. I hear ya

cherrybombxo · 19/09/2014 10:26

Clarabum I've watched it happen from the inside with Royal Mail, as my DP is a postman. It's hardly on the same scale as the NHS and the NHS going private would certainly cause far bigger fallout but I saw the uncertainty of my DP's job as they closed his local office and merged with a bigger office in a another part of Glasgow, how they basically forced everyone's hands with threats about pensions and shares... it was horrible. I dread to think what would happen with the NHS if it was forced to privatise.
