Evening all!

OP posts:
squoosh · 19/09/2014 02:32

The woman in red was Margaret Curran.

PhaedraIsMyName · 19/09/2014 02:32

I was going to take today off but I've too much work on and the managing partner pretty much issued a 3 line whip to all partners to be around tomorrow.

I must go to bed now. The only saving grace is my office is 5 minutes from home and due to flexi-time I don't have to be in until 10.

flippinada · 19/09/2014 02:33

Yes Chelsy. And Balerno. Who knows which way Balerno will go. Rich, but with a nationalist bent. Farmers too.

MaidOfStars · 19/09/2014 02:33

Sky explaining Orkney vote as a demographic thing - less younger people, more older traditionals, tend to eschew anything mainstream Scottish politics

Which is largely bollocks although they are resolutely loyal to Liberals / Lib Dems

The demographics are correct - the population is skewed towards the higher end. And perhaps more sympathetic to a Norse history?

livingzuid · 19/09/2014 02:33

Which way will Perth go out of interest? I heard too that Edinburgh was a no from a lady on the plane.

livingzuid · 19/09/2014 02:33

How she knew I don't know so I guess it was an instinct!

flippinada · 19/09/2014 02:33

Thanks squoosh

LatteLoverLovesLattes · 19/09/2014 02:34

Flippin I don't know, but he deserves a bloody medal!

StatisticallyChallenged · 19/09/2014 02:34

Is Balerno in the Midlothian region? It's under Edinburgh council I think.

flippinada · 19/09/2014 02:34

Edinburgh has the highest proportion of voters who are not born in Scotland. It's also the wealthiest constituency in Scotland. Therefore most likely no.

tabulahrasa · 19/09/2014 02:34

livingzuid - given that my main reason for voting yes is political representation, I feel exactly the same way about the referendum.

I can't moan that people's vote didn't count, lol.

PhaedraIsMyName · 19/09/2014 02:34

Oops I should have said, the tagline to that is 'Serious Problems for the Proclaimers should Scotland go independent'

I actually thought you were making a serious point about how tiny Scotland is when you look at it that way.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 19/09/2014 02:35

Sorry. Shouldn't have assumed you all have ESP. We are in London Grin

StatisticallyChallenged · 19/09/2014 02:35

I'd be surprised if Balerno wasn't pretty solidly no.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 19/09/2014 02:36

Balerno is Edinburgh.

LatteLoverLovesLattes · 19/09/2014 02:36

Thanks Squoosh :)

Night Phaedra. Poor you having to go to work tomorrow! I hope you have a relaxing weekend planned!

ChelsyHandy · 19/09/2014 02:36

Balerno is in Edinburgh. Midlothian used to cover a much wider, into West Lothian, than it does now.

PhaedraIsMyName · 19/09/2014 02:36

I live and work in Edinburgh and the assumption amongst friends, colleagues and neighbours is you are a No.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 19/09/2014 02:36

Michael Gove has apparently said he thinks the No side have won. Pretty gutsy this early on.

StatisticallyChallenged · 19/09/2014 02:37

Evening Lovley. I thought it was, just wasn't sure if some random boundary redraw had happened!

flippinada · 19/09/2014 02:37

Statistically I'm not 100% sure. I think Balerno counts as Midlothian. But...it may be Edinburgh. I'm in Currie.

Toadinthehole · 19/09/2014 02:38

Dundee is heading for a comfortable YES majority according to the Graun.

Fontella · 19/09/2014 02:38

Everyone's being very polite and subdued on twitter.

I was expecting a barrage to be honest but it's not like that at all.

Worst I've seen is 'Orkney Ya Wanks!'

ajandjjmum · 19/09/2014 02:38

Good news so far.......

Igneococcus · 19/09/2014 02:38

I just realised that even Spiegel, the German news magazine has a lifeticker for the referendum. I wonder how many are up in Germany watching.
