I'm bored of it all now. I know how important it all is but I just want it to be Friday morning so things can move forward, wherever that might be.

SilentCharisma · 18/09/2014 12:14

I feel very sad about it.

It scares me too, people wanting to split up so many alliances; Scotland / rUK, UK / Europe etc... I really believe we are better together, and operating as a single power block is in everyone's favour; when it comes down to it we are all small countries...

ashmts · 18/09/2014 12:16

Horace Do you think of the ROI as a foreign country?

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 18/09/2014 12:16

Even if they do vote yes, it will take time for full independence as the details of the split need to be arranged, kinda like going to court for a divorce.

EarthWindFire · 18/09/2014 12:20

Which can also be devisive and hugely expensive Sad

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 18/09/2014 12:22

Exactly Earth, It wont be pretty.

Itsjustmeagain · 18/09/2014 12:24

I feel a little bit sad about it, even if its a no I dont think things will ever be the same. If it is very close I think a no vote will only delay a split rather than put an end to it.

I was trying to explain it to my dcs this morning and thinking that when they are big enough to really understand it might seem totally strange to the to think of Scotland as NOT being independent!

I agree though that if Scotland votes yes then I think it should be a quick and total break The rest of the UK should not have to commit to supporting the "set up". They are independent and thats it.

TunipTheUnconquerable · 18/09/2014 12:34

DD would like to know about the implications for the Great British Bake-Off.

Itsfab · 18/09/2014 12:37

I feel strangely sad too.

I am doing my usual thing of not wanting to think about something that is happening in my real life and allowing myself to be emotional about something that won't affect me personally.

I really hope the no voters win.

CFSKate · 18/09/2014 12:38

I don't want Scotland to go.

Celticlass2 · 18/09/2014 12:39

No, not at all. I really hope it's a yes.

AmberLav · 18/09/2014 12:42

I predict that it will take about 4 years to negoitate the divorce, with only lawyers ending up better off... Please, please please let them vote no...

Bit distracted at work today (in London), knowing that there is nothing I can do to stop a lot of people in my country following a smarmy man into the sunset...

Viviennemary · 18/09/2014 12:45

I heard a while back that it will take around 18 months for the split. But I suppose nobody really knows. I hope it's Yes.

Itsjustmeagain · 18/09/2014 12:46

just wondering are the results going to be like a general election where you get each area declaring through the night or will they just announce a yes or no tomorrow morning (ie any point in staying up late!)

Just to say, I dont actually think it will be yes Sad however, even when the no vote gets through they are not going to have it all their own way. Those wanting independence will not just disappear, and there is a huge Tory backlash already against granting Scotland more powers in the event of a no vote.

EarthWindFire · 18/09/2014 12:48

18 months is the date given, but it depends what happens. rUK won't bow down and give iScotland everything they want. There are a lot of people for them to consider.

Itsjustmeagain - it has been reported results will be in about 7 tomorrow morning.

TunipTheUnconquerable · 18/09/2014 12:51

Itsjustme - yes, they'll start declaring results at around 2am and carry on till 6.

MrsRuffdiamond · 18/09/2014 12:53

I really will be sad if Scotland leaves the UK, although it's been treated pretty badly at various points in our shared history, so can't blame them, if it happens, I suppose.

On a brighter note, I am quite excited at the prospect of having dual nationality, and a Scottish passport, by dint of having a Scottish
dad!

Groovee · 18/09/2014 12:54

I'm not sure how I feel. Tomorrow we'll have a future that we don't know is the way forward.

I don't know what people on my timeline who have been vocal about for months will do with themselves tomorrow though!

DamnBamboo · 18/09/2014 12:55

I am Canadian (dual nationality) and lived in Canada during the whole Bloc Quebecois separatist movement in the 90s.

It was a NO (close though) and to this day, relations with the separatists in Quebec (the most vocal ones) and the rest of the country are very very poor!

rainbowinmyroom · 18/09/2014 12:57

Not sad at all. Would be glad to see the birth of an independent nation.

DontDrinkAndFacebook · 18/09/2014 12:58

It's a very odd feeling, isn't it? I actually thought I didn't give a stuff whether Scotland went independent or not so long as they would just stop moaning about the English and Westminster, but now the results are imminent I've realised I do feel a little bit sad at the prospect.

I mostly feel sorry for the No voters who are going to have their lives turned upside down in ways they did not choose if the vote is for YES.

If scotland are a yes i want a referendum on my taxes going towards any shoring up of the new Scotland. A clean break. Sort out your money, your schools and your hospitals yourselves

And I completely agree with this. ^
