We will just need to wait and see!

Squtternutbaush · 18/09/2014 23:51

I don't want to leave!

I'm sick of Yes campaigners assuming that I either must want to join them or I am not a true Scot.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 18/09/2014 23:55

Yes, because according to Yes lot, being concerned about the future of your country is deeply unpatriotic.

You might live in a cardboard box, have no job, no money but aslong as Scotland is independent it doesnt matter.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 18/09/2014 23:55

I wonder if they will make the olympics in 2016.

PhaedraIsMyName · 18/09/2014 23:57

I'm not watching any coverage and I don't intend sitting up. Unfortunately I'm not sleepy. Husband has gone off to bed. He's either very calm or just hiding it well. It'd be bloody awful if he were as wound up as me.

mrsruffallo · 18/09/2014 23:57

Its so great to hear that so many scots like being british, and part of the union.

NickiFury · 19/09/2014 00:13

I know a fair few Scottish people. There's only one who is a yes. Unfortunately he's lived in England since his teens and didn't manage to make it up to vote Hmm.

Mrsfrumble · 19/09/2014 00:22

Extremely ignorant question here (please excuse me, I've been living abroad for the last 18 months and haven't been keeping up with UK news like I should have): Who was actually eligible to vote? Anyone over 16 as long as they're living in Scotland? Regardless of their place of birth?

PhaedraIsMyName · 19/09/2014 00:32

Pretty much. If you were born in Scotland but your main residence is outwith Scotland, even if you are still in the UK you weren't eligible to vote.

Mrsfrumble · 19/09/2014 00:34

And if you were born in England and on the electoral roll in Scotland you can vote? Interesting!

NickiFury · 19/09/2014 00:36

Interesting. My Yes man seemed to think that all people born in Scotland were able to vote. I confess I didn't bother to check.

EarthWindFire · 19/09/2014 00:38

Nope only those who reside.

That's why there are so many ex pat Scots that are upset that they haven't had a say

PhaedraIsMyName · 19/09/2014 00:41

Both of you above- there are many, many people who were born outwith Scotland and are on the electoral roll. Of course they would be, same as they would for any other election. There are thousands of people born in Scotland who live elsewhere in the UK. They will be on the roll of their home for all elections.

rootypig · 19/09/2014 02:42

Ah Tinker I hope so for you, I do, but I've never seen it happening. I called 65:35 no a couple of months back, and I think the yes campaign have done amazingly well to bring it so close to the wire, but people are afraid.

londonrach · 19/09/2014 03:07

Im tried but hubby refusing to come to bed. Grr. Anyone else have this problem. He hasnt been able to sleep for days due to worry re scotland.

Squtternutbaush · 19/09/2014 07:11

I am gobsmacked!

awaynboilyurheid · 19/09/2014 08:07

Well I waited and it was a No, Like I said I didn't want to leave and seems like the majority did agree ! a vote for common sense

ErrolTheDragon · 19/09/2014 08:14

Whew. Thank you people of Scotland! Smile

The 'westminster' problem should be addressed by more devolution - it's the flip side of the West Lothian question which I hope will now also be addressed. Unity with more regional powers is the way forward - both for the UK and Europe I hope.

Tinkerball · 19/09/2014 08:41

Errol even though Im feeling pretty disappointed this morning as I voted yes I agree with every word you said.

OnlyLovers · 19/09/2014 10:23

I totally agree more regional/devolved powers are needed, and hopefully will happen now that UK government has had this shake-up.

I am relieved, but also sad that it was such a narrow margin (which I don't think should have been allowed to happen); I can only imagine that bad feeling will continue to fester on both sides.

A yes voter of my acquaintance on FB said when the results came in that people had 'bottled it'. What, as opposed to 'voted in the way they had thought about and decided to'? How fucking insulting. I've had to seriously restrain myself from saying as much on FB; I vowed not to get into this discussion on there because frankly, it's been ugly.

Squtternutbaush · 19/09/2014 11:20

Onlybive found the same thing on my timeline this morning.

No voters are "fucking cowards", "too thick to see through the scaremongering", "have no right to call themselves Scottish", "fucking traitors", "scum", "should piss off to England if they love it so much and leave the proper Scots to it" and "should be too embarrassed to show their faces in public today".

It seems that some people never saw this as a democratic process, more of a say Yes or you'll be ridiculed and insulted for refusing to do so.

OnlyLovers · 19/09/2014 11:37

I've no doubt that plenty of yes voters voted, and are now behaving, in a civilised and pleasant way. In fact there are a few yes voters on my FB whose comments are measured and gracious (and a few no voters who are sounding the same).

But the minority who are indulging in insults and aggression and downright sneering are making me really angry and upset.

HesterShaw · 19/09/2014 19:59

A very good thing those people don't live somewhere like, say, Iraq or Syria.

Scum FFS Angry How dare they?

Squtternutbaush · 20/09/2014 07:40

I really don't know what more to bloody say about this.

In the past 24 hours I've seen friends and family boasting about deleting anyone who voted No from Facebook and phone contacts, I've been single handedly blamed for pro-unionist riots and I have seen countless posts/comments about how ashamed they are to be share a country with such spineless cretins.

This is actually tearing relationships apart :(

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 20/09/2014 08:06

I think people should address the people making these comments.

I keep seeing people really angry at Yes supporters on here because of comments others have made ,which, yes, are unacceptable..but it ain't their fault.
