Okay- quick poll. La Bird wears glitter, tartan or sombre black?

squoosh · 18/09/2014 21:26

Actually I think twerpy Glenn Campbell is running the BBC show this evening.

squoosh · 18/09/2014 21:27

I think she'll be in her Serious Newsperson guise this evening.

She may well be wearing sequinned bloomers but I have no way of confirming.

livingzuid · 18/09/2014 21:28

Sat next to two No voters on the plane and there was a third somewhere whose husband had voted yes and they were having terrible rows. German papers showed pictures of huge No crowds (courtesy of Lady who spoke German).

Driving home and it feels surreal. All foggy here. Everything feels so normal and yet so not.

Fontella · 18/09/2014 21:29

Who is this La Bird of whom you speak?

SantanaLopez · 18/09/2014 21:31

The artist formally known as Jackie Bird.

squoosh · 18/09/2014 21:31

Jacqueline de Bird (aka Jackie Bird)

Nooooo now I need the mind bleach

frankie80 · 18/09/2014 21:32

tartan would be 'biased' wouldn't it?

I vote glitter, low cut, showing off her (non existent) chest

EarthWindFire · 18/09/2014 21:34

I am actually thinking of going for a nap at 11ish for a couple of hours.

DP will be up anyway so will wake me when the results start to come in.

RubbishRobotFromTheDawnOfTime · 18/09/2014 21:35

DH and I had a row over FB messenger this morning. He just wouldn't listen to me! I had hoped to bring him with me in my conversion to No.

He's been pretty quiet this evening so I think he realises but doesn't want to say as he'd already voted first thing today.

There was a lot of visible Yes stuff in Leith - a stall, bunting all along the fences, everyone wearing stickers including a load of 12 year old boys. They will have been targeting the jakey element round here and those with low educational attainment/employment who won't feel they have much to lose and definitely feel they have something to be aggrieved about. There was no BT presence.

It very much gives you the feeling that Yes is the way everyone is voting and you have to support the Yes movement. I found it quite unsettling.

RubbishRobotFromTheDawnOfTime · 18/09/2014 21:35

Going to bed now till about 2:30 I think.

frankie80 · 18/09/2014 21:36

I want to stay up but think I might have to get some sleep, don't know if I'll be able to. Might set the phone alarm to vibrate every hour from 2am so I can quickly check updates lol

sarine1 · 18/09/2014 21:37

Another (Scottish born) 'English' resident here who also really appreciates these threads and the way in which most people have posted on them. The information, clarity and detail has been awesome.
I truly hope tomorrow we are a Nation united rather than divided for all the reasons others have posted far more eloquently than I ever could.
It's feels as if we're on a truly horrendous precipice and waiting to topple one way or the other.
So many warm wishes to you all - which ever way you voted. I rarely pray but am praying and wishing and hoping for a united outcome tomorrow and that we can find a generosity of spirit to overcome the real hurt that this has caused. Flowers

LatteLoverLovesLattes · 18/09/2014 21:37

EWF Excellent news Grin

OneNight I don't know, it was the full ringing, several times over a few hours and no random single rings or anything?

livingzuid - your post earlier (to me) was lovely, thank you. Sorry, I had to go out and didn't get to reply! I hope you enjoyed your day (at least until your flight was delayed!!) and you are home safe soon x

What channel will everyone be watching BBC Scotland? Or is there something better I'm unaware of??

flippinada · 18/09/2014 21:38

How are you all doing now? I'm an absolute bag of nerves.

I really should go to bed but don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight.

dotdotdotmustdash · 18/09/2014 21:38

If you're staying up to watch the results, watch out for the Fife result at about 4am. Apparently we are the county most likely to reflect 'Scotland in miniature'.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 18/09/2014 21:38

Fabulous choice of words to describe a large area of Edinburgh. The 'jakey element'. Nice to hear you speak so highly of your home town.

WhatWouldFreddieDo · 18/09/2014 21:38

Yes, I might go to bed and set the alarm - not sure I can do the whole night at my age Grin

OneNight · 18/09/2014 21:40

A good idea I think RubbishRobot. I shall be opening the whisky in just over 20 minutes but all the devices are running out of juice so I may hook them up and head for a few hours in bed.

I'm sorry about you and your DH. This whole thing is sometimes a divisive bummer isn't it?

Spiritedwolf · 18/09/2014 21:40

Outs self further... and I'm currently working on a pastel painting of Cadair Idris, a mountain in Wales I've never visited. I love the UK x

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 18/09/2014 21:41

My local church had it's doors open today with a sign saying pray for Scotland but not in a melodramatic woe way, just looked like it had opened it's doors to offer a space for reflection, acknowledged that people are emotionally drained with it all.

ChelsyHandy · 18/09/2014 21:41

Rita Fabulous choice of words to describe a large area of Edinburgh. The 'jakey element'. Nice to hear you speak so highly of your home town.

How would you describe them?

Would you describe them in less or more pleasant terms that you've described hard working Scotswomen like me?

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/09/2014 21:41

Rubbish I don't know about today but there has definitely been a BT presence and BT stalls in Leith.

Hi -

I've been with you every step of the way - in silence, lurking - for nearly every post..I wonder how many others there have been reading along?

Just wanted to say thank you for what has been an amazing source of views and information over the last days/weeks! It has really been like a public service.

You have kept me sane, especially StatisticallyChallenged, Chelsy, Wild Thong, Squoosh Earth and earlier on Odd Commentary. And others..!! (Cedric and Onenight...I've missed some I know, sorry..!)

I'm Scottish and living in England and have been stunned at the finger-in-ears la la la group hypnosis, or what seems like it, from about half (hopefully a fair bit less than half) of my Scottish compatriots. A Facebook cull may be on the cards, but perhaps I'll let the dust settle first - if the Nationalist bilge is still spewing forth in a few weeks' time, I'll know what to do..

Anyway, I have used the info I got on here to hopefully help one undecided to weigh up the real risks and vote no (only fair, since I didn't get my own!!)

So don't any of you think it was for naught.

If it's a yes, I sort of know the Yes lot will be - how can I put it? - partying boisterously IRL and online, which I conced is their perogative, but I will consider it in bad taste, given the consequences for everyone, including the half of the population that will have voted no.

If it's a no, I have no intention of doing any celebrating either IRL or online - it'd be crass, and without lumping everyone together and trying to speak for anyone else, I believe most no-ers aren't like that.

But I will be partying in my head if it's a no.

You guys will be propping up the imaginary bar in my head and Gordon Brown will be in the dentist's chair wrapped in a whisky-sodden Saltire.

xx
