Santana I saw something saying they might have to use a boat to get votes from Benbecula etc because of the weather.

Ooft, just had to hide yet another independence referendum thread which started off goady and then got worse.

Is it the person whop is feeling really good about voting yes? If so what is goady or wrong with that, Ive voted yes and feel good about it to. Is taht not allowed because its not a No vote?

And if you want to talk goady I find wild thongs explanation of SAVVY much more goady really.

SantanaLopez · 18/09/2014 19:35

Botheration!

CityIndex's poll is 71% no 29% yes. We can but dream.

Fontella · 18/09/2014 19:36

Since the war there have been:

8 general elections where the voters of Scotland and England have voted the same - 1950, 1955, 1959, 1966, Oct 1974, 1997, 2001) and got the governments each wished (6 Labour and 2 Tory).

5 elections when the Scottish electorate prevented the outcome that England had voted for - 1951, 1964, 1974, 2005 and 2010

5 elections when the English electorate prevented the outcome that Scotland had voted for - 1970, 1979, 1983, 1987,1992.

8 times we agreed.
5 times Scotland prevailed.
5 times England prevailed.

SweetFelicityArkwright · 18/09/2014 19:36

Dh overheard someone on his flight back up to Scotland tonight saying that Rupert Murdoch had told Fox News that the postal votes were showing 65% No, 35% Yes, but can't find any confirmation of this except one other person saying the same on another forum. If true thus would make a No vote majority virtually impossible.

WildThong · 18/09/2014 19:37

tinker

No goady intended, purely an insult. Hth

Ha, I had a guy who is a personal trainer telling me that I couldn't have done my research correctly as I didn't agree with what was in the wee blue book. I pointed out that I was a qualified actuary with 15 years of training and experience analysing figures and asked him what Rev Stuart Campbell's qualifications were. He never answered me funnily enough Grin

frankie80 · 18/09/2014 19:38

ha ha my mum's just said she took my wee granny to vote around lunchtime and a yesser tried to give her a leaflet outside the polling station. My mum said she gave a big smile and a pointed "no thanks".

My granny rocks.

HamishBamish · 18/09/2014 19:38

What attack livingzuid? I'm sorry your flight is delayed and you are missing your baby,

However, I'm not arguing with you. I'm just pointing out that despite what your 'source' has said, the majority of members really don't care one way or the other. Most just want a quiet life and to enjoy the game. The R&A is simply a building where men enjoy reading the paper and socialising with other men. No different from the many women only clubs which are the same.

Tinkerball · 18/09/2014 19:41

Oh yes it helps me even more realise I'm so glad to have voted yes if you have to result to insulting 50% of the Scottish population and class them as Yobbos based on what they want to vote in a democratic election.

Have had a rubbish day today, and my baby had turned into a limpet so I think I'll send DH out to get cake to help me through the night. Need to look up wine limit recommendations for breastfeeding. 6am feels a lot closer now.

Did you get the last bit muddled up there?

GrouchyKiwi · 18/09/2014 19:42

Has not had. Stupid phone.

frankie80 · 18/09/2014 19:43

my neighbour also said "tomorrow we'll all be flying the saltire"

I said "you might be but I won't", he was shocked, assumed I was a yesser, had that kind of "everyone should be a yesser" attitude.

I hate in your face, flag flying patriotism, I feel the same about those who fly the english or american flags outside their homes. I just dont like it. Its unwelcoming to others I feel.

SirChenjin · 18/09/2014 19:44

That's v interesting Fontella - so another SNP myth debunked?

WildThong · 18/09/2014 19:45

tinker
Not based on what they vote, it's the use of the 'vilification' acronym that I'm basing my opinion on. There are actually some very nice Yes posters on here. People are judged on what they write you see.
Glad to clarify.

tabulahrasa · 18/09/2014 19:48

Fontanella - but only in 4 of those elections has Scotland's vote affected the outcome

It's not about whether we happen to get the government we vote for coincidentally, it's about the vote counting for anything in the first place.

SirChenjin · 18/09/2014 19:51

That's called living in a democracy. Whether you feel you want to live in a UK democracy or a Scottish democracy is what this referendum is about.

Tinkerball · 18/09/2014 19:52

Right Hmm

OneNight · 18/09/2014 19:57

If my memory holds Santana if a polling station is opened it stays open until 10pm even if their one officially registered voter turns up at 7am.

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/09/2014 19:58

That'd be a lot of games of knots and crosses OneNight!
