what would make a vote 'spoiled'? Would using a pen make it 'spoiled'? what if you did a tick instead of a cross?

SantanaLopez · 18/09/2014 19:17

Feel so sad and resigned tonight.

We voted in the school I'd love DD to go to.

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/09/2014 19:18

Just seen the first person posting "SAVVY" on FB. My deletion list is growing longer.

trixy
I used to do some work in relation to Modern Apprenticeships with their customer service, admin and management, and would often be in the Student Loans Company in Bothwell St and Hillington. It wasn't outsourced then, I don't know if that has changed since.

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/09/2014 19:19

Yup, that no change since 1945 thing is nonsense.

OP posts:
SantanaLopez · 18/09/2014 19:20

Oh, I've seen that, Stats, what does it mean?

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/09/2014 19:21

Chin up Santana. You've done all you can. I can't remember - will you be a likely relocator if it's a Yes?

I did some telephone canvassing on behalf of the Better Together campaign on Tuesday evening.

I phoned about 50 household and would say that over 40 of them were "no" voters. Of the rest, I had one yes vote, one hang up, and the rest that wanted to stay private. This was Glasgow suburbs.

SantanaLopez · 18/09/2014 19:22

It's not even likely Stats. It's definite.

grovel · 18/09/2014 19:24

Acronyms?

Well, from MAGPIE I send love to all Scots except Salmond (the THRUSH).

Where MAGPIE is the Mighty Army of Good People in England.

And THRUSH is the Thoroughly Horrible, Ruthless, Useless Social Humbug.

WildThong · 18/09/2014 19:24

SAVVY = Scottish Acronym Venal Voter Yobbo

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/09/2014 19:24

I thought it might have been

According to upthread it's "Scotland against vilification vote yes" - which is pretty nonsensical really, I'm not sure who we're even being vilified by!

OP posts:
Spiritedwolf · 18/09/2014 19:24

The thing is, in some locations 'No Thanks' signs outside polling stations - in areas where they are allowed - have been... er... spontaneously vanishing (no scaremongering here :) ) and campaigners have been trying to keep them replenished but they seem to have a short lifespan... and vanish again.

Presumably someone is having fun. It doesn't mean that 'No' don't care or that others in your area aren't voting no. I don't know for definite whether there is a presence in every area because it can be difficult to find volunteers for things like this but I do know activists in areas where they've gone missing.

My mouth is almost unfrozen after hour long dental visit hello everyone, have you all voted?

livingzuid · 18/09/2014 19:26

I am confused as to why the attack, or why there is an argument over a golf club, but it makes a change from the referendum.

I know the vote took place today. I freely admit I know bugger all about golf but I was interested to know the outcome. I was told by the member that it had been resisted in some quarters for many years but that it was going to be done on the 18th and would probably be a change to let women in but some of the old guard were grumbling about it but not in a serious way. I was pleased to know for personal reasons and that such a prestigious club was now open to women.

I figured no one would be interested in me regaling all of the above hence my very brief musing. I am not sure my comment merited the harshness of your post but never mind. I'm tired, my flight is delayed, my country might be gone and I miss my baby. It's quite a lot for one day. So I hope we can leave it at that.

cedricsneer · 18/09/2014 19:26

Stat, if you are up tonight with your spreadsheet, this may help (apologies if you've seen it) www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/sep/17/scottish-independence-polling-votes-results-to-watch

SantanaLopez · 18/09/2014 19:26

That doesn't even make sense Confused

An hour at the dentist, owww. You must be glad that's over!

trixymalixy · 18/09/2014 19:27

My best friend from school and I had drifted apart anyway, and I think this referendum might kill out friendship completely. We've had a few terse messages where she has suggested I haven't thought through my vote carefully enough. I replied saying there were 20 areas where I thought independence didn't stack up and that I would write it up for her. She said not to bother as it wouldn't change her mind so basically she was just trying to test me and I told her so. I may also have said a few things involving rainbows and unicorns.

We'll see.

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/09/2014 19:27

Where are you stuck livingzuid?

OP posts:
WildThong · 18/09/2014 19:27

spirited
Story in 5live yesterday about a woman who got really fed up with the big No Thanks sign near her being vandalised. She has been living in a Union Jack patterned tent in a field beside the sign for nearly a week to protect it until tonight.

WildThong · 18/09/2014 19:29

living never mind the snippy answer, you'll be home soon Flowers

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/09/2014 19:31

My spreadsheet and I will be here with whoever else is going to be unable to sleep CedricSneer - see above!

trixymalixy I had someone tell me today there were "literally no financial reasons for staying in Britain" based on their analysis of the GERS figures. This person has absolutely zero financial knowledge or experience whatsoever, and was positing their analysis as being comparable to that of Credit Suisse. I came || this close to telling them to foxtrot oscar.

Oh we are off. Fog was the problem. Gatwick. Thanks all will be back to the excitement soon!

NotWeavingButDarning · 18/09/2014 19:32

A friend has just told me that he's heard the unofficial polls are standing at 52% No 48% Yes. Has anyone else heard this -- or is he talking out of his arse--?

SantanaLopez · 18/09/2014 19:33

Safe journey living.

Is the fog bad over the islands?

Along the turn-out line, if a very small polling office in a village has 100% turnout before 10pm, can they close early?

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/09/2014 19:33

That was the result of most of the polls over the last few days, but I don't think there have been others done since.

Safe flight livingzuid!
