To think my niece should be allowed to wear makeup to school.

DN came home rather upset today after being told makeup is banned in school. She doesn't wear a lot just some foundation and clear lipgloss.

The reason she likes to wear it is because it covers all her spots, in the summer holiday she didn't wear any. My sister has taken her to the doctors and tried every OTC lotions and potions but nothing works.

It really boost her confidence and now she is dreading school because of these spots.

I have been to her school to collect school reports as dsis due to work commitments and have seen many teachers wearing makeup, so I assume it's a policy for pupils only.

I agree with you about cutting girls some slack, definitely. I also think that you and Limited are probably closer than you think in your fundamental attitudes, and have got lost a bit in poking each other. I bet we could all meet in a bar and put the world to rights Wink.

I cross-posted. Shall we start with a tequila slammer?

mathanxiety tl;dr

..bonkers outfits and make up and hair.

The point of being a teenager is to transition successfully into adulthood. Everything including school curriculum and teens' own biology is deigned and set in place to move them forward constantly.

However, that being said, tequila slammers sound like a great idea, so cheers Wine

Why would you put benzoyl peroxide on your lips? Confused

mathanxiety · 21/09/2014 05:52

Not on Shock but near, on my chin. Spots can sometimes crop up close to the lips.

StarlightMcKenzie · 21/09/2014 11:02

Why on your lips? Because spots crop up in the line of your lips often, and your ears, neck, chest, back.

Though BP near clothing areas is worse than make up as it bleaches.

CrazyTypeOfIndifference · 21/09/2014 11:16

I would say that the school are not bu to have a blanket no make up policy.

However I would also say that the best thing you could do for your niece is to give her (or take her to someone to give her) make up lessons.

Well applied concealer and foundations should look like you're not wearing make-up - that's the point.

Nothing for teachers to get in a huff about. I don't see a need for the lip gloss though.

bof Much as I'd love to have a drink with you and mathanxiety, I'd have to say no. One of my main points on this thread is that you learn things with age.

At a MN meet up last year I was offered a jager bomb by a bloke I could have given at least 20 years to.

I declined because (a) I didn't know what he was talking about and (b) when I was last on the pull in the last century the rules were that a lady could choose her own drink.

Anyway, I was immensely flattered, right up until the point about an hour later, when he waved at me then fell over and dented a car door with his head.

But you may be right, mathanxiety and I probably are in agreement but maybe it got lost in translation. So Flowers math

I tried to change my name to MisinformedDriveller for this but I was defeated.

What a shame. Don't some people just slay you with their wit?

limitedperiodonly · 21/09/2014 15:22

Sorry, I forgot to say: a gin and tonic, tall glass, lemon, plenty of ice would be nice.

BoyFromTheBigBadCity · 21/09/2014 16:00

Yes, BP does bleach. I accidentally completely bleached a pillow case when I first stated Duac, BUT it pushed me into changing my pillow case every night which also helps. It had to go near my lips - I get spots on my lips, let alone lipline! blistex is a really good balm, as it a burts bees one with no menthol.

School rules, if they don't like it go to a different school

Teachers are in the workplace, not a school pupil. Different rules. You're being rediculous
