I am finding that it is becoming more acceptable to use cocaine socially.

Friends and people that I know take it at weekends, at parties, bars or clubs and sometimes on a night in with friends and a bottle of wine.

These people are teachers, sahms, childcare workers, administrators, financial advisors and social workers so a real mix.

Is it becoming more socially acceptable? Would you have a problem if your friend did it occasionally?

Well I said my opinion. I feel that it has become more socially acceptable but after reading this thread I understand it is not just more people are open about it and it is more FREQUENT in the circles that I am in.

I have also said that I never really thought about where it come from but I will be looking into that as I know that it is foolish.

also it is openly accepted in some work places like I think many finance and telesales firms, but you would be seriously in trouble if you did cocaine on a work night out with anywhere that I've worked.

sshroom · 16/09/2014 14:38

To be fair I find drunk people more boring than those on coke.

smellysocksandchickenpox · 16/09/2014 14:38

eugh I hate when threads go this way, "it's not so bad because alcohol is worse"

  1. I have never met anyone who did cocaine and NOT alcohol
  2. alcohol could have a 100% fatality rate and that STILL wouldn't make cocaine okay so moot point!
CoteDAzur · 16/09/2014 14:39

"Anyone who finds a 'cheeky line' socially acceptable is a scumbag"

Unlike you, who is clearly a lovely non-judgemental person Hmm

I don't care what people put into their bodies to have a good time, whether it is a glass of wine, a shot of tequila, a line of cocaine, or a vibrator. Why do you?

rainbowinmyroom · 16/09/2014 14:39

It says a lot about you that you do, sshroom.

Branleuse · 16/09/2014 14:39

it doesnt bother me if other people do it, but i think its expensive and a bit of a slippery slope. Im not particularly social and rarely do parties but i would never be able to just have one line, so I wouldnt bother at all

CoteDAzur · 16/09/2014 14:40

You have missed the point, smelly.

sshroom · 16/09/2014 14:41

rainbow why would I care what that says about me? Or what you think?

OP posts:
rainbowinmyroom · 16/09/2014 14:42

I care about the tens of thousands of people who have been killed and those who continue to suffer slavery and misery due to the cocaine industry, Cote. If that makes me judgemental of people who use the end product, I am proud to be so.

sshroom · 16/09/2014 14:42

What are you doing about all the tens of people that you care about?

OP posts:
rainbowinmyroom · 16/09/2014 14:43

Why start a thread then, sshroom, if you don't give a damn? Why not just carry on associating with immature are swipes who use a product covered in blood to get their jollies? If it doesn't bother you, why not just carry on your merry way?

usualnamechanger · 16/09/2014 14:44

Anyone doing drugs past teenage years is an idiot in my book. At least teenagers have the immaturity excuse.

For starters, I don't use the product they are e salvaged or killed to produce . . .

But carry on getting defensive about your associates. We are known by the company we keep, after all.

sshroom · 16/09/2014 14:45

Because I wanted to hear opinions on social cocaine use rather than hear personal comments about me rainbowinmyroom.

Bogeyface · 16/09/2014 14:45

I have to agree with PP's in that I really dont understand why you started this.

You wont answer whether you have taken it yourself, wont answer what your opinion is.....are you just trying to get justification of your own actions by hoping that MN would say its ok? Or are you just a goady fucker?

sshroom · 16/09/2014 14:46

Again I repeat the question: what exactly are you doing to help or support those affected by cocaine??

OP posts:
FlossyMoo · 16/09/2014 14:46

Sorry but I do not see how rain is being a twat? And why shouldn't she judge a drug user. It is illegal.

rainbowinmyroom · 16/09/2014 14:47

Yes, finding cocaine use despicable really makes one a twat. PMSL.

Bulbasaur · 16/09/2014 14:47

You can't compare weed and cocaine. No one ever died from a weed over dose.

Cocaine is meant to be a powerful mind altering substance. It causes symptoms similar to psychosis. Once the euphoria wears off, it makes people anxious and agitated. It does too very much make people violent and angry.

That said, drug use may be common, but I wouldn't hang or associate with anyone that did hard drugs either.

I'm shocked if you honestly know teachers and child care workers that do cocaine. They should be stripped of their licenses and fired. Do you guys not have drug testing over there?

sshroom · 16/09/2014 14:48

Bogey Face well if you read the thread you will see what my opinions are on this.

Whether I take it or not is irrelevent. I am asking if in posters experience is cocaine use becoming more socially acceptable.

OP posts:
rainbowinmyroom · 16/09/2014 14:48

All sorts, sshroom, from not hanging around people who find its use acceptable to charity work processing asylum applications for those who have gone through some pretty terrible ordeals trying to get away from it.

sshroom · 16/09/2014 14:49

Yes I also know a police officer who takes cocaine socially.
I have never known anybody become violent or angry. Anxious and agitated yes. But this is just in my circle and I am prepared to be educated by others experiences.

OP posts:
CoteDAzur · 16/09/2014 14:49

"I care about the tens of thousands of people who have been killed and those who continue to suffer slavery and misery due to the cocaine industry, Cote."

So you campaign for legalisation, do you?
