Looks like the Sun will make an announcement. Perhaps they feel the NHS story has done a lot of damage and they need to help the Yes campaign recover? I hate the fact that Murdoch thinks he has this power. A

MindReader · 16/09/2014 21:39

He IS a bit sensitive, wee soul! Thanks for the kind comments.
But it goes to show how much the atmosphere is affecting even fairly young kids Sad

My biggest worry is a Yes vote.
I do believe Scotland could be Independent but not like this.
But my next biggest worry is how it will 'feel' over the coming days, weeks and months if it IS a NO. Confused

SantanaLopez · 16/09/2014 21:39

I am really sad that this thread seems to represent the madness around me, where people are dividing up, whispering and smearing each other. It is so fucking childish that a sector of them have broken off to laugh at the nos here. Its very very sad.

I thought we had a great atmosphere on this thread. Why shouldn't we be allowed to question one another's posts? The vast majority of the questioning was totally genuine.

ANYONE is welcome on this thread, as I said on the other.

Celticlass2 · 16/09/2014 21:41

Think AS coming across very well in the interview with David Dimbelby. Seems very calm and collected.

Cambiodenombre · 16/09/2014 21:43

I think AS is always very calm, he has that arrogance around him that shows no fear. I don't believe much of what comes out his mouth though

brontolo · 16/09/2014 21:44

"calm and collected" would be better termed "smug and sanctimonious" in my book.

To his credit, he has had some fantastic media training - his tone of voice, body language etc is - in this interview at least - very convincing. Just a shame that most of what he says is crap.

Fontella · 16/09/2014 21:44

Chelsy

Its all gone crazy!

A line from one of my all time favourite songs ..and one which in an obscure kind of way is sort of appropriate to current events.

I'm going to Texas ....

Roonerspism · 16/09/2014 21:44

SC sorry if anyone feels I have lowered the thread today.

I shall keep my trap shut. I'm not a bully.

StatisticallyChallenged · 16/09/2014 21:44

He's a bit hypocritical talking about Cameron putting pressure on businesses though. And do shut up about Project Fear

His comments about not having to leave for jobs or because of economic considerations are a bit insensitive as a campaign argument when, like it or not, there are many scots fearing for their jobs now.

grandtheftmanual · 16/09/2014 21:45

Only just seen the other thread. Not a lot of facts.

AnnieHoo · 16/09/2014 21:46

Watch him dodge responsibility now...

BardarbungaBardarbing · 16/09/2014 21:48

AS - "a bit insensitive" is a very kind thing to say StatChallenged!

StatisticallyChallenged · 16/09/2014 21:48

I wasn't having a go at anyone Roonerspism. Smile

Roonerspism · 16/09/2014 21:49

He didnt remotely try to refute the suggestion of a run on the banks or effects on the stock markets on Friday. Tried to put onus on Cameron - but he can't blame Cameron for this mess...

Roonerspism · 16/09/2014 21:51

I know SC but I don't like thinking I have lowered a thread and I think I did.

As I said, I'm scared.... Back to being measured again. Keeping a lid on it (except at night)

Looks like the Sun will make an announcement. Perhaps they feel the NHS story has done a lot of damage and they need to help the Yes campaign recover? I hate the fact that Murdoch thinks he has this power.

I know. I just find it weird how he was sort of hovering around the other day 'observing' and tweeting and so on with his political playing and mischief making, and the way he thinks he can influence and manipulate lives and people - maybe he can, I don't know. Has anyone ever just stood up to Murdoch and told him to eff off!?

He's going to announce his big editorial at the 11th hour that supposedly is going to sway people to vote one way or the other based on the pontifications of this old Aussie bloke. Does he/the press still have that power? Or does he just imagine he does?

Cambiodenombre · 16/09/2014 21:54

Judging by the number of people egging him on to announce for yes I think he does have sway. Very very sad.

AnnieHoo · 16/09/2014 21:54

Tell us what happens if there's not a CU Alex!!!

Roonerspism · 16/09/2014 21:54

Why isn't Dimbleby pushing the issues with AS. Carney has said no currency union.

I feel the bias of the BBC is towards Salmond! I shall protest accordingly...

moggiek · 16/09/2014 21:54

But Cameron DID have the option to offer Devo Max, which I feel many voters would have been happy to settle for.

Cambiodenombre · 16/09/2014 21:55

David's making him squirm a little now.

LatteLoverLovesLattes · 16/09/2014 21:58

Rooners don't stay quiet. People need to know the impact it will have on real families. Don't apologise for that.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 16/09/2014 21:59

To the person whose English neighbour's car was defaced. Please apologise from me. This isn't my Scotland or the generous, welcoming Scots I know

Absolutely no need to apoloise, Rooners - it wasn't you who damaged the car, just as it wasn't most of the Scots Smile

To be honest, I think what rattled our neighbour most was the rather confrontational attitude of the police, implying that somehow he shouldn't even have been there at such a time

StatisticallyChallenged · 16/09/2014 22:00

Scottish Independence Poll (Survation):
YES - 48%
NO - 52%

That's quite impressive!

Fontella · 16/09/2014 22:00

Mr Rupert Murdoch – tweeting incorrigibly from afar about the future of Page 3 (diaphanous) and his views of an independent Scotland (teasing) – expects to generate a little corporate publicity as well as massage his ego. Will the Bun put its bras back on? Can the McBun toss a caber of an endorsement into the last round of the campaign?

Time for a reality check. The Sun sells 246,000 copies a day in Scotland, according to the last audit bureau results. Its SNP flirtations over the years probably have had more to do with worsting the Daily Record (204,000) than lighting flames of freedom, and its shrewd new national editor, David Dinsmore, knows all about winning that game. But the calculation is always the same. As lads' mags die (slaughtered by the internet) what does Page 3 do for Sun circulation, currently falling 6.6% year-on-year? And what do the latest referendum polls say, so the Voice of Rupert can trumpet support for a pretty sure winner?

It's the old routine, as authentic as a plastic sporran made in China. The interesting thing, after so much hacking humiliation, is why Mr Murdoch should suppose he can carry on doing his master-of-the-world act. Try seeing who he plumps for, perhaps; then do the precise opposite.
