As title really, its tomorrow and chatting to him now, but its going to be a disaster. I've been sucked in by a pretty face. Am I being too picky?

Tinned soup is lovely, I eat it regularly when DH is on certain shifts.

You are going on a date, not a contest.

Fairylea · 14/09/2014 21:16

This is all a bit snobby isn't it. Surely there's more to someone than whether they eat tinned soup, have been to university and know their geography?! If you like him surely none of that would matter?

DaughterDilemma · 14/09/2014 21:17

Well ALL of Berlin wasn't technically in Germany for quite a few years, some of it was British, some of it American...

IrenetheQuaint · 14/09/2014 21:17

I thought tinder was just for sex? I don't think there's any correlation between geographical knowledge/lunch choices and bedroom ability.

(Although am happy to be corrected by anyone who has done research into the subject.)

icymaiden · 14/09/2014 21:17

was your date in Berlin? if so you might have a long wait while he finds it, otherwise i can't see why it would be an issue.

Viviennemary · 14/09/2014 21:18

I didn't go on a second date once with somebody who wore white socks. But I don't think not knowing where Berlin is or eating tinned soup is anything like as bad.

SpaceStation · 14/09/2014 21:19

I agree with Horace, Heinz tomato soup is the food of the gods. At least it's not cup-a-soup. Also we need to know where he thinks Berlin is. If he's just a bit wrong (eg in Poland or France) that's not as bad as if he thinks it's the capital of Australia.

And what are you studying OP?

The 11+ ?

JeanSeberg · 14/09/2014 21:20

He did a b-teck and not a levels

And? Hope my btec son is spared from dating narrow-minded bigots like you.

sarahighseas · 14/09/2014 21:20

I'm not joking about any of it, this b whatever when I was at school a long time ago was just for stupid people where alevls were out of reach. Of course 15 years later it is probably something different.

OP posts:
Thisvehicleisreversing · 14/09/2014 21:21

Oh dear I must warn DH that he sold himself short with me.

I didn't take A levels, got a lowly NVQ instead, I'm 34 and have never travelled outside of the UK and I'm incapable of counting without using my fingers.

However I do know where Berlin is so maybe I'm not so bad after all.

SpaceStation · 14/09/2014 21:21

ROFL at "was your date in Berlin"? :o

Reminds me of the They Might Be Giant classic:

Istanbul was Constantinople
Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Now it's Turkish delight on a moonlit night

Every gal in Constantinople
Lives in Istanbul, not Constantinople
So if you've a date in Constantinople
She'll be waiting in Istanbul

MyFairyKing · 14/09/2014 21:21

What did you get in your alevls, sarah?

Guitargirl · 14/09/2014 21:21

I think you were made for each other.

sarahighseas · 14/09/2014 21:23

I got abb, but I'm dyslexic so none of them were languages.

OP posts:
SpaceStation · 14/09/2014 21:23

What did you have for lunch btw? I think we should be told!

SquirrelWearingATrilby · 14/09/2014 21:23

This has to be a windup.

Tinned soup? Why not? It's a cheap, quick lunch.

He's been working full time for two years, never been to Wales or Scotland either. He did a b-teck and not a levels, if that was in media studies or tourism and leisure its off

Would you care to share your CV with us? Educated at Roedean, travelled widely and then fell into your current role as CEO at Apple, maybe? Hmm

WorraLiberty · 14/09/2014 21:23

I'm sorry but what are 'alevls'?

MsAnthropic · 14/09/2014 21:24

this b whatever when I was at school a long time ago was just for stupid people where alevls were out of reach
I'll be back in a minute. Just going to fetch the popcorn ...

ilovesooty · 14/09/2014 21:24

This thread has to bea joke, surely?

If the OP is talking about B Teck she obviously isn't very bright either.

I don't see what's wrong with tinned soup and by 22 I'd only ever been on a two week exchange to Germany.

ithoughtofitfirst · 14/09/2014 21:24

jeanseberg Haha ! Grin that made my day

WarblingOyster · 14/09/2014 21:25

'B-TECK'
my turn to faint

Lifesalemon · 14/09/2014 21:25

Maybe you should try Elitesingles. It's for the more snobby sophisticated singles.
Who have alevls.

sarahighseas · 14/09/2014 21:26

OK forget the b thing, I don't want to offend anyone and his is in engineering so isn't a mickey mouse thing.
