to cancel a tinder date as he has tinned soup for lunch and didn't know berlin was in Germany?

As title really, its tomorrow and chatting to him now, but its going to be a disaster. I've been sucked in by a pretty face. Am I being too picky?

Tinned soup for lunch is ok. If he's working he's hardly going to go for the Come Dine With Me experience in his half hour is he?

Where did he think Berlin was?

DH has general knowledge in different areas to mine. Doesn't mean he's thick or I'm better than him.

Trills · 14/09/2014 21:07

How old are you?

PitchSlapped · 14/09/2014 21:07

Whats wrong with tinned soup???

PinkSquash · 14/09/2014 21:08

I wondered WTF tinder had to do with meeting men, I've been out of the dating loop for some time.

I love tinned soup but I know where Berlin is.

sarahighseas · 14/09/2014 21:08

But he says he has tinned soup every day! Like every day, sod it I'll still go nevermind

TortoiseshellSpecs · 14/09/2014 21:08

Isn't tinder just a fuckbuddy/hook up type app anyway? I wouldn't expect a person to be looking for hot intellectual conversation if they said they were dating via tinder.

iklboo · 14/09/2014 21:08

And he might only be able to afford Spanish Island holidays - or go along with his mates.

At 22 I wasn't exactly Michael Palin! (And not just cos he's a bloke).

TalcAndTurnips · 14/09/2014 21:08

I've just googled the Tinder thing and now know what it is. Do you think it is called Tinder because a tinderbox is where you create a spark to light a fire?

I would be OK with the soup issue, unless it was pea and ham. Ectoplasm.

The lapse in geography may be harder to tackle. I always demanded a smattering of general knowledge in those heady days of dating. If they couldn't identify the noble gases they could feck right off.

Nanny0gg · 14/09/2014 21:08

The relationship is doomed, especially when he finds out you don't use apostrophes when you type

Or capital letters...

SpringBreaker · 14/09/2014 21:09

maybe op should change her name to sarahighmaintenance :D

Bunbaker · 14/09/2014 21:09

"He's only ever been on holiday to Spanish islands too."

Oh, FGS, he is only 22. Probably just out of university. When would he have been able to afford somewhere more exotic?

At 22 the furthest I had been was Turkey.

MyFairyKing · 14/09/2014 21:10

What did you expect from Tinder?! Grin

rainbowinmyroom · 14/09/2014 21:10

I love Heinz tinned tomato soup. Mmm. Practically lived on that whilst pregnant with DD1.

JADS · 14/09/2014 21:11

I love tinned soup Hmm

The Berlin thing would put me off unless he thought it was somewhere in Eastern Europe or is from America or Australia

ithoughtofitfirst · 14/09/2014 21:11

every day ??

Gruntbaby · 14/09/2014 21:11

Try it. Seriously some of the brightest people I know - academics with multiple degrees from the best unis in the country - are unaware of such things as:

  • Al Qaeda
  • Where Manchester is
  • How to make toast

If nothing else you might get some good stories out of it.

Tinned soup - not great, but 22 is still Student age isn't it. Again some of the most refined, witty and intelligent men I know were eating tinned soup at that age, and serving pasta sandwiches. I've known nuclear physicists serve pasta with tinned tuna dumped on top as a date meal. So don't judge someone by their taste in soup.

I had no idea where Poland was until i met my dh. I know now. Drama over.

sarahighseas · 14/09/2014 21:13

He's been working full time for two years, never been to Wales or Scotland either. He did a b-teck and not a levels, if that was in media studies or tourism and leisure its off.

StoneTheFlamingCrows · 14/09/2014 21:14

If you honestly believed you were going to meet an intelligent, refined gent on the meat market that is tinder, then you are just as dim as he is!

Lifesalemon · 14/09/2014 21:14

I had tinned soup for lunch. With warm bread from the bread maker, does that make it ok ( probably not as the bread mix was from a packet) Blush
I know where Berlin is though.

I'd give him a go though if he's 22yrs old and pretty faced, think of the fun you can have while educating him.

thegreylady · 14/09/2014 21:14

Lower case 'b' for Berlin in the title tut tut...but we won't tell him :)
Go, have fun.

thegreylady · 14/09/2014 21:15

You mean B-Tec

TortoiseshellSpecs · 14/09/2014 21:15

"B-teck"

Bit rich for you to having a pop, no?

MyFairyKing · 14/09/2014 21:15

"b-teck"

LOL, you joker, OP. Grin
