So you don't rate her then Bog? Grin

TeamScotland · 14/09/2014 21:31

True Bog, she's great, but on the wrong side. Perhaps she'll work it out for herself.

squoosh · 14/09/2014 21:32

I don't mind Nicola most of the time. She's not on my top 10 'most annoying people of the referendum' list.

AnnieHoo · 14/09/2014 21:32

That's how I feel about Ruth Smile.

frankie80 · 14/09/2014 21:32

I like Ruth very much, I've also always liked Anabell Goldie. I don't vote conservative but I like those two.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 14/09/2014 21:33

Just thinking aloud but regarding the discrepancies between the young voters registered and in existence. Is the separate register just for young people? There is already an unpublished safe register for those who can't have their details on the public register. For example those in hiding from violent partners etc. Have they been put together or are they using separate unpublished registers?

TeamScotland · 14/09/2014 21:33

But chelsy what makes you so sure the worst case scenario is going to happen?

NCforAye · 14/09/2014 21:33

squoosh

I do hope none of the top 10 are Mumsnetters. Grin

Esmum07 · 14/09/2014 21:33

Phaedra the piece you are looking for in the Telegraph is actually on your link. It is the side menu under related stories and is the story about a three year old being registered to vote

AnnieHoo · 14/09/2014 21:33

I like Annabel Goldie too.

frankie80 · 14/09/2014 21:33

Chelsy, you make a good point, I think it is indeed likely people have been promised things in return for 'yes' support.

TheBogQueen · 14/09/2014 21:34

I think she is a committed and intelligent woman.

I think one really good thing about this referendum is the number of female politicians who have come to the fore.

But frankly I could sit and tell the people all the things I would like to happen - but it's pointless if it isn't my party's policy.

ChelsyHandy · 14/09/2014 21:34

TheBogQueen I think Scots are perfectly capable of running a fair referendum

We are also perfectly capable of cheating at voting. The INEOS scandal was partly about the Union signing up people as members and voting for them without their permission, in some cases dead persons or the families of members or former members.

It might seem unimportant in comparison to a referendum, but it nearly lost thousands of people their jobs, and the country an industry.

The intent to be dishonest is not entirely absent.

PhaedraIsMyName · 14/09/2014 21:34

This article left me feeling sick and depressed.
It's by Andrew Gilligan about the SNP's Dodgy Dossier.

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/scottish-independence/11094601/Scottish-independence-Yes-campaign-every-bit-as-dodgy-as-Iraq-dossier.html

flippinada · 14/09/2014 21:34

"I've mentioned a few times that it seems strange that to change a company's constitution, you need a special majority of 75% in favour, but only an ordinary majority of 50% to change our country's."

Yeah. This and what Santana said. It does seem like a recipe for disaster, I agree.

LatteLoverLovesLattes · 14/09/2014 21:34

Rooners - yes, it could have & god alone knows why it didn't (though I'm sure someone will tell us!). I too, do not get how anyone can vote 'yes' when they have no idea what they will 'get' if it goes ahead. Politicians making promises is all they have! What we have may not be perfect, but it's not a complete and utter disaster either, it's a platform to improve upon.

StatisticallyChallenged · 14/09/2014 21:34

See my quote above Lovleyrita (i know these move fast!)

squoosh · 14/09/2014 21:35

Ha, no NCforAye, you've all escaped my ire. There are so many annoying people to chose from politicians/journalists/celebs that I didn't have the space to add you Wink

WhatWouldFreddieDo · 14/09/2014 21:35

Chelsy we are beginning to have these conversations - DH's job will go south with a Yes vote, but we are assuming that we won't be able to sell our house without losing money, and the DCs are well settled at school, so we're thinking about DH weekly commuting for a while at least, to see what happens during negotiations.

Not a lifestyle I am looking forward to.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 14/09/2014 21:36

Pheadra I didn't ask you about the 7 cards. I addressed you in the second half of the post as far as I can recall.

Thanks for the link.

Does anyone know if things like that happen in other elections?

NCforAye · 14/09/2014 21:36

The intent to be dishonest is not entirely absent.

Perhaps not, but I think the ability to carry through on that dishonesty would be pretty darn difficult in a vote of this significance - there are checks and double-checks in place!

WhatWouldFreddieDo · 14/09/2014 21:37

Phaedra yes, that was the article I tried and failed to link while in the far north upthread.

WildThong · 14/09/2014 21:37

squoosh so that's 2 special files you have? Don't get them mixed up!

NCforAye · 14/09/2014 21:38

squoosh

Oh dear. I must need to step up my game! Wink

OneNight · 14/09/2014 21:38

I would hope so NC but post referendum perception may be all in the event of a close vote.
