Friends are trying to think of a word to teach their 2yo girl for the private parts. AIBU to think there's no female equivalent to willy for a boy? Anybody got an idea what word to use?

Had there not been anyone who has rampaged onto the thread bellowing about vulva being the only acceptable term yet?

elQuintoConyo · 13/09/2014 23:01

Peepee.

It works for boys and for girls and for urine.

DS says 'pupa peepee' ('booboo on willy', in English) when he has a babyboner. Or he'll tell me 'peepe mummy' when he needs to go.

No tweeness, no confusing euphemisms, no fucking fairies or flowers or twinkles or front bottoms - yea gads!

Although i do like the name 'chacha' and no, mine isn't called Anastasia von Beaverhausen at all

ODearMe · 13/09/2014 23:03

DS calls it a Minnie Smile

PinkAndBlueBedtimeBears · 13/09/2014 23:07

When I was growing up I had a front bottom and a back bottom and db had a willy and a bottom.
We have struggled with dd, I'd love to be carefree and call it a vulva, but it sounds so crude when children say it, so think we will opt with f/b bottom, and willy and bottom for ds, but if either of them ask then they will get the 'real' names and hopefully won't be as embarrassed by them as I am :/

TeamScotland · 13/09/2014 23:07

Fluff or fluffy here.

My second cousin who is a fucking idiot taught her daughter to use the word cunt as soon as the wee girl could speak. I lost touch with them for many years but the girl has grown I to a great young woman despite her nutty mum.

Beehatch · 13/09/2014 23:09

Having one of each we have 'winkie' and 'minkie' though they both know the anatomical name and we use those sometimes too.

awsomer · 13/09/2014 23:12

The problem is it's all a bit more complex for girls.

Just to clear things up for anyone who wants to use the anatomical words but is a bit unsure; The vulva is the outer part of the female genitals (including the opening of the vagina). The vagina in the passage leading from the cervix of the uterus to the external genitals.

I know someone who calls it their Special Place...

SkimWordsSuck · 13/09/2014 23:13

I taught my kids the anatomically correct words I have to say that before the MN pedants arrive but we used girly bits or bits for the girls and willy for the boys. I didn't give it much thought.

HibiscusIsland · 13/09/2014 23:22

I saw it called a pasty on a MN thread once which made me laugh
Minnie and Minkie are ok too I think

PeachyParisian · 13/09/2014 23:23

Dsis and I called it a dilly growing up! Not too twee and similar to willy!

HibiscusIsland · 13/09/2014 23:24

I've heard balls called nuggets and peanuts

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 13/09/2014 23:24

I grew up in a house with 3 girls and a boy.

Girls bits were called wee-ers - I think I had in mind as I grew up that they were weirs like on rivers!

Now I have sons, they have willies and I have girl bits!

CurlyhairedAssassin · 13/09/2014 23:29

I thought "willy" was pretty much universal amongst little boys?

All the girls ones mentioned made me roar - poor nursery staff!!! How on earth are they supposed to know what little girls are talking about when there are so many made-up names?

I think for both "wipe your privates/private parts" is a good unisex bet. As others have said, it reinforces the fact that they ARE private, for no-one else to touch.

I have a 10 yr old boy. Having been happy with using "willy" all these years he is now asking for a word for his testicles. He knows the proper terms for everything but it sounds like a biology lesson if they call it the proper word, so he is busy trying to decide what he likes best between balls, sack, ball bags, goolies, nuts, and others!!!

pixiegumboot · 13/09/2014 23:33

Well technically if you're talking about the bit that wees isn't it the uretha?

squoosh · 13/09/2014 23:34

Urethra

CurlyhairedAssassin · 13/09/2014 23:34

Peanuts?! Completely the wrong size nut surely?! Mind you, I have no idea of the size of an older boy's testicles - last time I took note of the siZe of my sons', they were both about 2 and lying on a changing mat! And probably WERE peanut sized. I'm assuming they might be a bit bigger these days, but I don't go near there anymore obviously, so I don't know.

This is a wierd post. Grin

xxxxmrsxxxx · 13/09/2014 23:41

My now-grown up girls used to have "bits". None of this bloody front bottom crap!! I hated that. Their boys have a willy. The youngest loves his testicles! He has always called them that. The girls now refer to their bits as their noonie and the boys call it that as well.

HibiscusIsland · 13/09/2014 23:41

I think peanuts is just a funny name made up by little boys rather than intended to be an accurate representation

HeartShapedBox · 14/09/2014 00:02

where I am, on the scale of severity for swear words fanny is worse than twat, less rude than cunt.
it's so vulgar!
also happens to mean " you fucking idiot" so erm, not a name for a child's genitals at all.

flower, daisy or bits here.

mind you, I hate Willy for a penis, it's winky or twinkle here.

TeamScotland · 14/09/2014 00:12

Where does minge come on your list, heart?

HeartShapedBox · 14/09/2014 00:28

it's about twat level, teamscotland.

mind you, where I am (west dunbartonshire) twat is only really used as an insult meaning " fucking daftie" I don't think I've ever heard anyone saying it in relation to genitals.

I'd freak if my DD used it in reference to her bits before 13 or so.

squoosh · 14/09/2014 00:34

winky and twinkle are awful. I'll stick with fanny.

squoosh · 14/09/2014 00:34

oh wait, winky and twinkle are for the penis? Still bad.

Flower, daisy......they're just so mimsy.

Myfanwyprice · 14/09/2014 00:36

Dd says noonie, or noon.

When I was little we said wotsit, that stopped when during a conversation on this subject with my sisters and cousins (we were late teens) when we said that we call it a wotsit, my cousin replied why is it cheesy and crusty?!?

BlackeyedSusan · 14/09/2014 00:48

girl bits
