to think there's no good word equivalent of willy for girls

Friends are trying to think of a word to teach their 2yo girl for the private parts. AIBU to think there's no female equivalent to willy for a boy? Anybody got an idea what word to use?

We have Gina or Volvo, although that's because the Dts couldn't say the proper words properly. I think foof is a good one.

StairsInTheNight · 13/09/2014 21:20

Gina (like China) or nooni seen popular here.

trainersandaches · 13/09/2014 21:21

My friend used to call hers her 'weewee box' which I think is ace.

Springheeled · 13/09/2014 21:22

Dd thinks ds has a willy and she has a woolly. Confused
She's also aware that there's a 'pagina' in the mix somewhere.

CurlyWurlyCake · 13/09/2014 21:22

It's a ninnie in our house or "remember to wipe your bits"

PiratePanda · 13/09/2014 21:23

The problem withe proper anatomical names is that there is no way of referring to the whole area in one word. I like privates; general without being coy or twee.

Mrsgrumble · 13/09/2014 21:24

It was Mary in our house.. Awful!

OwlinaTree · 13/09/2014 21:24

Some interesting suggestions! We all like different things unfortunately.

We have willy's and mini's in this house.

Methe · 13/09/2014 21:25

It's willy and fanny here.

ScrambledeggLDCcakeBOAK · 13/09/2014 21:26

Vajayjay or fanjita Grin

My mum used flower with us [cringe]

fishybits · 13/09/2014 21:26

Bottom and bits in this house

DesperatelySeekingSedatives · 13/09/2014 21:26

It was noony when I was little DD calls it cootchie and my friend and her daughters call it woo.

DS is knows willy and balls but the subject of girls parts hasn't come up yet even tho he has a big sister (he's 3).

Methe · 13/09/2014 21:26

And they both know the correct anatomical words formal bits btw.

DamnBamboo · 13/09/2014 21:27

Why the hell would you refer to little girls bits as fairy, tuppence or Mary? Why is fanny rude?

pippinleaf · 13/09/2014 21:27

Minkie. Please don't call it 'front bottom.' My mother did and I always thought my vagina was dirty and 'pooey' as a result. Horrible term.

Purplecircle · 13/09/2014 21:28

Hoohoo

thegreylady · 13/09/2014 21:29

We used gina pronounced jeena when dd was little (yes I know it is vulva really but gina did till she was older). Oddly with ds a penis was always a penis never a willie.

Showy · 13/09/2014 21:29

It's a vulva here.

DamnBamboo · 13/09/2014 21:30

But most bottoms aren't dirty and pooey generally though! I find the is whole concept of angst around how to refer to genitals most bizarre.

LittlePeasMummy1 · 13/09/2014 21:31

Oh god, my daughters nursery told me before she started that they would ask what we called her 'genitals' so that there would be no confusion when intimate care was being administered. It took us a while to decide, and we went with foof. It was honestly harder to name her bits than it was to name her.

Gatekeeper · 13/09/2014 21:31

Fairy here, it seems to be standard for sw durham

DamnBamboo · 13/09/2014 21:32

Why not privates (never a bad thing to teach a child anyway) or simply 'bits'?

clairewitchproject · 13/09/2014 21:33

Based on my own childhood, my DD has a winkle and my boys a willie. These are 'everyday' terms...they are aware of the 'proper' words too.

It worked brilliantly until she was in nursery and got very indignant when the play leader was teaching them the song 'Elephants have Wrinkles'. She misheard it, sang along to what she thought was 'Elephants have Winkles', then told them all that only GIRL elephants have winkles, BOY elephants have willies.

CarmineRose1978 · 13/09/2014 21:34

I don't know why but I find 'fairy' almost offensively twee. I can't remember what my parents used when I was little... Probably 'fanny'. That certainly wasn't rude or sexualised where I grew up. I don't know what we'll use.

My partner prefers 'winkie' instead of 'willy' for boys. I don't love that either.
