Friends are trying to think of a word to teach their 2yo girl for the private parts. AIBU to think there's no female equivalent to willy for a boy? Anybody got an idea what word to use?

I quite like pipsy, but I'm not sure others would know what she meant if she was talking about it!

Oh god, iam in the middle of this trauma at the moment with a very verbal 19mo DD who is a boy/girl twin. So she sees her brother' willy frequently but what do I call her bits?!! Arghh. I want to be all unrepressed and go for vulva but I can't quite get there. Bah. I would love to go for 'wilma' but not sure I want to strike out alone on that one yet,

Wheresmypassport · 13/09/2014 22:03

Lady bits is what my 6 year DD says

CarmineRose1978 · 13/09/2014 22:04

The way Ana referred to her genitals as "down there" really hacked me off in 50 Shades. "Down there", FFS!

cherrybombxo · 13/09/2014 22:05

My mum always said foof or foofoo and that makes me heave now, it's so cringey. My friend calls it her 'noon' and that always makes me laugh Grin

cherrytree63 · 13/09/2014 22:08

When my son started sex education at school he came home and announced that the proper word for a willy is a penis and girls have shiners! Smile

drspouse · 13/09/2014 22:08

DS calls his the "wiggly worm" and at first he couldn't say "wiggly" but only said that part do kept talking about his "liggy" which confused us no end. I must remember to tell nursery what that means by the way.

So I think we'll see what DD calls hers (or possibly what he calls it).

lettertoherms · 13/09/2014 22:09

Weewee is common here in the states. I like it. That or privates, which I think goes nicely with teaching hygiene and safeguarding.

UterusUterusGhali · 13/09/2014 22:10

Vulva or Undercarriage here.

Boys had a penis until a Lithuanian doctor referred to DS1's as his "Vinky" repeatedly during an appointment. It is now a Vinky or Villy. Grin

ovaryhill · 13/09/2014 22:11

We use 'toot'

squoosh · 13/09/2014 22:12

Hilarious, I can't imagine a little girl saying 'undercarriage'.

Thurlow · 13/09/2014 22:15

I hate that there's no standard word! I imagine you'd get the idea what a girl was talking about if a young girl said minnie, foof, flower etc but it's still not 100% obvious.

We tend to use 'bottom' to refer to the whole area, as in "dry your bottom", and sometimes "bits", which I actually hate myself for saying because it just sounds to rubbish but I guess it must have been what my mum said because I just keep saying it without thinking. I've been trying to call it vagina at times, especially now DD is a bit older and can start to verbalise which bit hurts/is sore. I know that is not the approved MN word (Hmm) but she certainly can't say "vulva" yet, so 'gina it is.

Mrsstarlord · 13/09/2014 22:18

We saw a girl in an extreeeeemly short skirt earlier and my son, who is 9 with a GDD asked if we could see her rudeness.

Not sure where he has got that from but i suspect it will stick Smile

cosmicnibbles · 13/09/2014 22:28

Fanfan or fan as a derivative of fanny which is what i was used to growing up.

Though recently MIL was complaining about the heat and saying she needed a fan, DD sitting on her lap pointed to the area and said 'nanny fan fan' .. Confused

Looserella · 13/09/2014 22:39

Fanny is a bit rude. Foof is really rude!

Osirus · 13/09/2014 22:39

Wilma is brilliant!

idontlikealdi · 13/09/2014 22:43

It's a woof in this house, I have no idea where it came from. Vulva might be anatomically correct but it just Sounds so wrong - wipe your woof is much betterGrin

ILovePud · 13/09/2014 22:45

I think willy is the usual term for penis but I have a similar issue as to what we call testicles in our house, balls or nuts seem a bit crude. My boys have picked up the term peanuts at school but I'm curious about what others use.

SomethingAboutNothing · 13/09/2014 22:45

We called ours our 'Minnie' when we were children, sounds strange to me now though.

Gangie · 13/09/2014 22:47

We call it her binky! Works for us Grin

blondepip · 13/09/2014 22:52

Twinkle here for girls and willy for boys.

ouryve · 13/09/2014 22:53

It was fanny, when I was growing up.

PiratePanda · 13/09/2014 22:55

Vulva is plain wrong unless you're just talking about the external genitals. Vagina is also wrong for the whole area. Pudenda, genitals, privates, bits or fanny. I quite like cunt Grin but not from the mouths of babes...

Discopanda · 13/09/2014 22:55

My LG used to think she had a willy thanks to seeing her slightly older cousin being potty trained and us all telling him to tuck his willy into the potty. My best friend and her 3 year old call it a noo noo, I say lady bits or fanny.

DogsinBoots · 13/09/2014 22:59

When I was little it was my tuppany.
When my FFs were young we used nooni.
I still use nooni.
