Friends are trying to think of a word to teach their 2yo girl for the private parts. AIBU to think there's no female equivalent to willy for a boy? Anybody got an idea what word to use?

Fanny did me just fine when I was little and that's what I'm using for my girls, although other people seem to think it's ruder than willy.

OwlinaTree · 13/09/2014 21:12

Thanks little. The room here is divided on fanny.

Front bum and back bum
Wee tube, baby tube, poo tube

marne2 · 13/09/2014 21:13

It gets called many things in our house including fanny, foo foo and vagina.

juneybean · 13/09/2014 21:14

Fairy?

Zippidydoodah · 13/09/2014 21:14

Fanny is rude!

I totally agree, op. You get all those things like tuppence/flower/fairy etc which just confuse matters!

WarblingOyster · 13/09/2014 21:14

Fanny seems to have turned really crass nowadays. I call it a tush for young children

Pico2 · 13/09/2014 21:14

Foof here too.

junkfoodaddict · 13/09/2014 21:14

Pieces, Fairy and Mary. Those were the words I have been used to when growing up and with othe mums of little girls. my HT's uses the word Pom. My little boy has a 'teapot'.

ReadyForDinner · 13/09/2014 21:15

In my family it was front bottom in terms of 'wipe your front bottom after having a wee' if you are going more technical ie "mummy whats this?" I would go with anatomical names vulva, vagina etc

NorksEnormous · 13/09/2014 21:15

My DS has a willy, my dd has a wilma! That's the way it works here! Smile

WarblingOyster · 13/09/2014 21:15

As in, anything goes when adults talk about it but I like to keep DD's ears free of 'fanny' and 'faj' Grin

notagainffffffffs · 13/09/2014 21:15

Foof! Or privates if feeling posh

LadyLuck10 · 13/09/2014 21:15

Fairy. Foof sounds a bit vulgar I don't know.

francesdrake · 13/09/2014 21:16

I don't think it stops once you're a grown up. I've never found a word I'm completely comfortable using - hooha amongst friends, but in that kind of Victoria Wood arch way. Everything else feels twee, or anatomical, or 70s porn film, or laddish.

I must be very repressed. Biscuit

dangly131 · 13/09/2014 21:16

Tut or tutty

poolomoomon · 13/09/2014 21:17

Mum used to call it twinkle. I call it foo foo, I don't even know why. I've heard foof before as well, a friend in primary school called it star. I've heard noonie and minnie before now too. So many nicknames... But vagina just sounds so serious, as does penis. I can't imagine saying to my three year old DD "Wipe your vagina DD",seems bizarre.

Zippidydoodah · 13/09/2014 21:17

Wilma!! I LOVE that! My dd has "privates". She wipes her "bottom" after a wee, though.

cungryhatterpillar · 13/09/2014 21:17

Pieces, fairy and Mary

Ye gods!

If a child told me she'd been touched inappropriately using one of those words I'd have no idea.

We use front bum and vulva.

Molotov · 13/09/2014 21:18

I love foof and wilma! Grin

Here, boys have a dinkle, girls have a winky Smile

FruitBasedDrinkForALady · 13/09/2014 21:18

We're going with vulva here. DD (4) thinks it's a great word!

TeenageMutantNinjaTurtle · 13/09/2014 21:18

Faffy in this house Hmm I much prefer anatomical names but I couldn't get my head around the 2 year old saying vagina.

Fubsy · 13/09/2014 21:19

Don't we have fanjos on MN any more? I'm disappointed!

poolomoomon · 13/09/2014 21:19

Tuppence and fairy! Suddenly reminded of more vagina nicknames from this thread. Ahh...
