Then Project Fear really has done a number on No voters.

Yes indeed. Sillars' threats have really energised the No voters.

Abra1d · 13/09/2014 17:49

I know, Phaedra!

Dammed if you do (telling us what to do).
Dammed if you don't (don't give a damn about us).

BardarbungaBardarbing · 13/09/2014 17:53

Project "Don't chuck yourself under that bus" is a bit long-winded.

EarthWindFire · 13/09/2014 17:53

That's a smashing photo there prettybird!! Really sums up the atmosphere today around Scotland's town/city centres!

If you are a yes voter maybe. Can't you see however if you were a no voter in that area that you may feel intimidated to say exactly how you would vote?

prettybird · 13/09/2014 17:54

town

Spiritedwolf · 13/09/2014 17:55

I think the thing is pretty is that I have a yes voting friend that I can discuss the referendum (or not) with without worry, we actually have very similar political views but disagree on whether independence is the best way to achieve them. We can have fab discussions about it.

But I do find yes supporters (and the huge signs they put up) that I don't know intimidating. Because I don't know which of them are the fab ones that I'd have tons in common with outside of the referendum debate and get on well with. And which are the ones who will shout down people with opposing views, tell my (English) husband to f* off back home, otherwise verbally abuse people in public and whether or not they are the ones who have been vandalising No signs and graffiting Yes or Yes stickers everywhere. I don't know, it just feels very unfriendly.

WildThong · 13/09/2014 17:55

Which is exactly what I said upthread Earth I thought it was febrile and horrible. Unwelcome in my own city.

That's not where I was canvassing: canvassing is being done with defined electoral register lists, so that people can be followed up to kae sure that they have voted. I mentioned earlier that I was in the New Gorbals.

PlasticPinkFlamingo · 13/09/2014 17:56

Any decent polling company will use a mixture of landline and mobiles as otherwise it will be skew the sample. Same way an internet only poll will be unreliable.

The Survation one released today (?) was a mixture of landline and mobile.

SantanaLopez · 13/09/2014 17:56

I have to say, I would have felt uncomfortable with that pretty.

TeamScotland · 13/09/2014 17:57

Uncomfortable with a peaceful crowd of happy yes voters waving flags?

squoosh · 13/09/2014 17:59

I hate any kind of evangelical gatherings, even if it's something I agree with.

WhatWouldFreddieDo · 13/09/2014 18:00

Of course it's uncomfortable if you're on your own and have already had experience of being told to eff off home just for wearing a No sticker

SantanaLopez · 13/09/2014 18:01

Yes, I would have. Would you have enjoyed a Better Together rally?

WildThong · 13/09/2014 18:01

team I wasn't uncomfortable, I was intimidated - big difference.

I got a 'yes' letter through the post and my DD (6) asked how strangers got our address.

I don't like the 'yes' campaign sending me letters or having my address, I try to be careful about my contact details being online after being stalked 3 years ago :(

EarthWindFire · 13/09/2014 18:02

Uncomfortable with a peaceful crowd of happy yes voters waving flags?

Yes. If that wasn't my view and I was asked how I would vote I would say yes. Even if it was my view I would still not like it tbh.

I really can't understand why some people would find it intimerdating.

If I had turned up or passed by wearing a no badge do you really think nothing would have been said?

IrnBruTheNoo · 13/09/2014 18:02

What on earth is wrong with seeing a group of people being passionate in the streets about something they truly believe in???

WhatWouldFreddieDo · 13/09/2014 18:02

Since which I have definitely crossed the street to avoid a Yes stall

EarthWindFire · 13/09/2014 18:02

*i still can't see why you don't think some...

TeamScotland · 13/09/2014 18:03

frankie er, the electoral role?

grovel · 13/09/2014 18:04

Anyone got military in their family? How are they going to vote?

IrnBruTheNoo · 13/09/2014 18:04

They get your address from the electoral register, you'll get gumf from both campaigns.

SantanaLopez · 13/09/2014 18:04

Yes, because I don't truly believe in what they are being passionate about. And this makes me uncomfortable.

Would you like to go to a Better Together rally?

TeamScotland · 13/09/2014 18:04

I've yet to see a Better Together rally. When I do, I'll let you know how I feel.
