From The Observer

"Salmond attacked the narrow focus of the no campaign: "Their people have decided there are certain special categories that they can target, such as the rich, the powerful and the landed aristocracy. I, though, want to go for every vote."

What tosh.

StatisticallyChallenged · 14/09/2014 11:47

It looks like the venue was only changed yesterday - hope lots of people don't miss it as a result.

EarthWindFire · 14/09/2014 11:51

I am truly sick of it all. I defriended some one on FB this morning for telling any no voters that we have not right to ever sign flower of Scotland again as we are all traiters and that if we love the UK so much to pack a bag and move down south as an IScotland doesn't want folk like us. Some yes voters are really turning into wee dictators.

Shock
WhatWouldFreddieDo · 14/09/2014 11:54

Morning all - choco I have also volunteered for a political movement for the first time in my life but have now been kept mainly to non-speaking roles - not told why but am English so ...

TeamScotland · 14/09/2014 11:59

fibromum

I'm a yes and would delete any Facebook "friend" who posted that. It is a democratic vote, most right thinking people appreciate that.

WildThong · 14/09/2014 12:00

phaedra he is deliberately divisive. I'm not rich, powerful or landed, but would have my toenails pulled out before I would vote for him and his parcel of rogues.

Morning all, just checking into thread 10, I can't keep up with it enough to pay much! By the time I get to the end and want to pay its already moved on 50 posts.

Was or for a walk round the West End (Glasgow) this morning. I noticed that the only No Thanks signs up in windows were on the top floor of tenements, not a single one on the ground or first floors. Want the case for Yes. Make of that what you will.

Also, unrelated most likely, the city is a mess. Rubbish EVERYWHERE. Why? A few weeks ago it was spotless, have the council just speed giving a toss because the commonwealth games are over? Or is it too hard to keep on top of with all the referendum stuff? It just make me feel sad, like it's a sign of things to come when the mega-cuts have to start Sad

I've seen one friend letting another know that she is temporarily defriending her until after the 19th but at the same time looking forward to seeing her on a weekend away together at the end of the month.

Not seen any of my friends, on either side, make any derogatory comments on fb. Closest I've come is when a friend put her No twibbon on and a number of her friends/family piled in with Yes info (not nastily, I hasten to add). I ended up defending her on the basis that if she'd put her twibbon on, it meant she'd sent her postal vote in so there was no point having a go at her (which I knew from conversations I'd had with her) to change her mind.

BakerStreetSaxRift · 14/09/2014 12:06

Pay=post.
Want=Not

BardarbungaBardarbing · 14/09/2014 12:06

Afternoon already! Real life beckons..

livingzuid · 14/09/2014 12:08

chocco that's great. I wanted to do something but sadly am away most of next week. DH didn't let me put a poster up in the window in case we got a brick through it.

Depending on the result, I want to get involved too. After all the bigotry on display, though, not sure I can face staying. I'm so sad. This is not what I expected from my country.

BardarbungaBardarbing · 14/09/2014 12:10

prettybird you live in a lovely bubble from what I read of your posts.

livingzuid · 14/09/2014 12:10

prettybird the reality for many people in not what you're describing.

WildThong · 14/09/2014 12:11

What's a 'twibbon'?

livingzuid · 14/09/2014 12:13

And please stop trying to paint the Yes campaign whiter than white. It isn't.

fibromum · 14/09/2014 12:24

I only know a few yes voters and will say i have never had a cross word with any of them we respect each others views. The friend on fb this morning is someone I have known since our teens and we only see each other once in a blue moon. I hope she was just having a bad day and is regretting her rant but I decided for my sanity and blood pressure to defriend.

One plus to this referendum is that my kids are getting involved and asking questions about politics and their country. I have told them why we are a no and that in the event of a yes vote that we will still be British and hold a UK passport (they had wanted to know if they got a Scottish Passport, I was renewing my passport as it was due to expire) I have told them when they are 18 they can decide what passport they hold.

I hope by the time they are old enough to vote regardless of the outcome on Thursday that a new generation of youngsters will get involved in the running of their country.

squoosh · 14/09/2014 12:25

Evil old toad Murdoch has been tweeting all morning about Scotland and seems to be stepping back from endorsing Yes.

'With hundreds of thousands who never voted before, how can polls with small samples be sure. Mixed forecasts prove nobody can tell.'

'NO camp counter- productive with bullying and lies, until Brown entered. But most don't knows will vote No, on " better the devil we know".'

'Scotland. Have to worry about some of Salmond's allies. Far left socialists and extreme greenies. Must change course to prosper if he wins.'

'Should remember Scots invented modern world 200 odd years ago with Scottish Enlightenment. Free people, free markets, decent restraints.'

^'Foundations continue to lift millions out of poverty. World an
Immeasurably better place, living standards continue upwards for billions.'^

'That process must continue. Despite English patronising, whatever the outcome, extremists on both sides will fade, warm feelings return.'

'With all- party promises of max devolution, if kept, Britain will be a different place, certainly better managed. Tough negotiations ahead.'

WildThong · 14/09/2014 12:25

AS on Sky news, "no such thing as a No voter, just a deferred Yes"
Arrogant twat.

Ugh, such an inappropriate thing for a First Minister to say about Scottish people. He's getting scrappier and less appealing by the day.

BakerStreetSaxRift · 14/09/2014 12:32

I can see Scotland going the same way as Northern Ireland with The Troubles if it's a No vote.

It's so worrying.

WildThong · 14/09/2014 12:33

Nah, that's religion, this is politics.

StatisticallyChallenged · 14/09/2014 12:34
