ItsAllGoingToBeFine, but who will be Prime Minister? Pretty unsatisfactory changing halfway through. My suggestion was that maybe Cameron, Clegg, Miliband et al agree on a team and step back themselves. It would make the end result a joint enterprise and could prevent years of feuding in rUK.

Also loving how David gets the swearing out for the Scots. Effing..... ooooh!

Almost as cringe worthy as AD trying to say " haud own" in the second debate...Bless them, its really sweet to see them make the effort to try and communicate with the common man Grin

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 10/09/2014 19:59

Own = oan

StatisticallyChallenged · 10/09/2014 20:01

I've noticed most of the politicians seem to have misplaced their Ts as this has gone on.

TheBogQueen · 10/09/2014 20:03

I am a Yes voter but have really enjoyed these threads- still do. And the quality of the No supporters' arguments is a big part of that.

AnnieHoo · 10/09/2014 20:05

I'm 'effing addicted to these threads. GrinWink. Got to watch GBBO now and forget politics for a while.

starwarslegoboy · 10/09/2014 20:11

Do you think they will ask for "hauners" if they are having an altercation with the plebs?

It's all a big Victor and Barry.

squoosh · 10/09/2014 20:17

As long as no one says 'pure dead brilliant'.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 10/09/2014 20:20

Do you think they will ask for "hauners" if they are having an altercation with the plebs?

I think they are carefully avoiding the plebs aren't they? Meetings in Standard Life and then press a conferences with handpicked press. Not sure why they bothered TBH - they really really really don't get it. They need to get out on the streets, talking to real people.

PIC shows George Square this afternoon. Impromptu Yes ceilidh while the Nos plaintively sing God save the Queen. The two campaigns are on completely different planets.

Some of the Nos are singing God Save the Queen, your average No voter is probably at home having their dinner. Much like the average Yes voter.

StatisticallyChallenged · 10/09/2014 20:25

Think it was Scottish Widows Cameron went to. Where there were, judging by the pics, a fairly large number of perfectly normal financial services staff. Many of whom are scared at the moment, and legitimately so. Are they lesser folk cos they work in FS? They're certainly real people. It's the biggest industry in Edinburgh after all.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 10/09/2014 20:27

Aye, but the point is there ia so much optimism and joy and creativity and spontaneity in the Yes campaign This is something that is sorely missing in the No campaign (although I really admire cairn building bloke and Jim Murphy)

squoosh · 10/09/2014 20:28

I'm no fan of Cameron's, not at all, but I think his speech went better then some people were hoping.

starwarslegoboy · 10/09/2014 20:30

My 2nd year English teacher deconstructed 'Pure, dead, brilliant' one lesson. It was utterly hilarious and forever enlightening. Same goes for 'you know what I mean" being circular language. It is one of the reasons that I think that teachers should be allowed to teach. He also demanded that latecomers should stand in front of the class with a creative story as to why they were late....my mum sleeping in or missing the train would not cut it. Oh no, it had to be credible. He inspired us and there were few latecomers.

Wonderful teacher.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 10/09/2014 20:33

Where there were, judging by the pics, a fairly large number of perfectly normal financial services staff.*

I knew someone would get the hump Smile All I meant was maybe it would be better for the campaign if he had wandered around some of the schemes meeting people, rather than choreographed meetings in flash headquarters FS of otherwise.

StatisticallyChallenged · 10/09/2014 20:33

Excuse me ItsAll, I think I need to go vomit Envy

Yes, that was mocking btw - I think she can take it Wink

squoosh · 10/09/2014 20:34

Can you imagine what would happen to Cameron if he took his daily constitutional in a scheme? It would be very entertaining but I doubt it would flatter either side!

StatisticallyChallenged · 10/09/2014 20:36

Well indeed squoosh!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 10/09/2014 20:37

I know, I know, but where is the No campaigns Yestival or Spirit of Independence or RIC canvassing or Wings? (I know folk don't like Wings but the readership is phenomenal) There is just so much genuine grassroots stuff on the Yes side, whereas No manages some street stalls and canvassing and that is about it (cairn man and Jim Murphy honourable exceptions)

StatisticallyChallenged · 10/09/2014 20:43

Well the group I was out with the other night finished their "official" campaign stuff early. Everyone refused point blank to just give up and go home - so everyone went out, split up, headed to busy places and just stood and talked to as many people as possible, for hours. No, it's not a giant festival. But it's "real people" showing their passion and fighting for what they believe in. Just cos its not showy doesn't mean it's not real.

squoosh · 10/09/2014 20:45

The No campaigners are probably at home with their feet up eating a slice of Battenburg. Most of the creative, trendy types are Yes so I'm not surprised they're a bit more dynamic with their campaigning and celebrating.

Justanotherlurker · 10/09/2014 20:47

Not sure if this has been posted or it's just a thread about salmond shitting golden unicorns

WildThong · 10/09/2014 20:48

We are going for 'quietly effective' Wink

starwarslegoboy · 10/09/2014 20:49

I defy that stereotype. I have slippers on, watching the news and eating polenta

StatisticallyChallenged · 10/09/2014 20:49

I saw the Credit Suisse article. Very scary, and not the only one.

squoosh · 10/09/2014 20:53

Polenta is one of the key Yes foods. See also quinoa.
