ItsAllGoingToBeFine, but who will be Prime Minister? Pretty unsatisfactory changing halfway through. My suggestion was that maybe Cameron, Clegg, Miliband et al agree on a team and step back themselves. It would make the end result a joint enterprise and could prevent years of feuding in rUK.

Of you are a Yes supporter don't write FREEDOM all over your ballot paper as it will not be counted

TeamScotland · 09/09/2014 19:30

They've just announced on SKY that due to the massive turn out expected, yes voters should vote on the 18th and no voters on the 19th.

Tinkerball · 09/09/2014 19:33

Anyone else having mild panics that somehow they won't be able to vote on the day? Massive D&V bug for example?

Me!!!!

I've also thought about suddenly going blind in the polling station for example and not being able to cross the right box...unlikely admittedly thankfully! Grin

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 09/09/2014 19:37

I think I will probably end up crying.Grin

My nerves are going to be in shreds.

In my whole adult life it feels like my vote hasn't counted for much, apart from the devolution vote. This is huge.

PrettyPictures92 · 09/09/2014 19:39

Sky I fell for that for a second! more like a couple minutes until I Googled it

PrettyPictures92 · 09/09/2014 19:40

*teamscotland not sky, heads up my arse tonight Hmm

IrnBruTheNoo · 09/09/2014 19:45

This is bigger than big. Can't wait to cast my vote. Suddenly realised I need to get a life if all I do is eat, sleep and talk politics!

WhatWouldFreddieDo · 09/09/2014 19:46

fgs, if you're going to run a country, you should at least be able to mark a cross in a box Wink

I spent a few hours today helping out at the No stall in our local town. Masses of people came up requesting stickers and posters, and most said something along the lines of 'It's getting scary, hopefully people will wake up'.

The Yes team were close by, and the atmosphere was all quite friendly, except as I was running into Smiths to get a paper I was told to fuck off home (again, sigh).

Interesting opinion piece in The Times by Magnus Linklater here altho of course it's behind their paywall.

Basically saying neither Cameron nor Salmond want to be faced with a Yes vote. 'However much Mr Salmond talks up independence as the best future for Scotland, he is all too aware of the pitfalls: he knows that without a shared currency Scotland would be at the mercy of market forces; as an economist he is familiar with the budget deficit he is likelyt o face; etc etc'

squoosh · 09/09/2014 19:49

I thought this evening's Better Together ad was pretty good actually, if only they'd gone down that route earlier!

Well I am not Scottish and in the event of a Yes majority I will vote for the rUK Political Party that WON'T enter into CU (or any financial support) with iScotland

Snap. No way would I vote for any party proposing a currency union with an iScotland. Looks like a lot of risk for us in rUK with limited benefits.

We're planning to either holiday in Wales or Scotland next summer, if there's a Yes vote it will almost certainly be Wales (if we're going to holiday somewhere wet & it's even stevens we may as well keep the money within the rUK) & yes I'm sure I would buy British over Scottish as I buy local as much as possible anyway. I presume Scots would buy Scottish over British though, and not think anything of it? I already buy (northern) Irish whisky so no change there...

Cambiodenombre · 09/09/2014 20:23

In the case of a yes vote does this give credence to any claim Shetland has for independence (replace WM with Edinburgh and you have a similar argument) if so what effect does this have on the economy given a some of the laggers future oil development are near Shetland? There was a petition for them to hold their own referendum a week after main vote that Holyrood turned down due to lack of time to organise (6m time scale I think)

AnnieHoo · 09/09/2014 20:27

Yes I thought the Better Together ad was good too. I think it was aimed at my age cohort Smile.

Roonerspism · 09/09/2014 20:32

Any of the yes voters even slightly shaken at the exit of funds from Scotland and the UK today? The advice from Japanese banks not to invest in the UK?

If not, why not?

Utterly genuine question as it sure as hell is scaring me.

BardarbungaBardarbing · 09/09/2014 20:40

TeamScotlandGrin genius spin !

KatoPotato · 09/09/2014 20:41

Please help me! I don't know what to vote!!

I'm scared. Can a yes voter please allay my fear about ending up with a huge mortgage and no savings? Won't this spark another crisis?

BardarbungaBardarbing · 09/09/2014 20:44

WhatWould I keep thinking AS can't really want this insanity what with being an economist an' all but he's looking remarkably chipper. Which makes me wonder..

Roseformeplease · 09/09/2014 20:47

If you are the right KatoPotato then vote no to end all follicle bollicles.

SantanaLopez · 09/09/2014 20:48

I can't decide on one question to ask on the web chat Confused

Roonerspism · 09/09/2014 20:51

kato your fears are utterly justified. I am also fearing a run on the scottish banks. Investors are already voting with their feet.

This is only the start of it. Remember Scotland will inherit a deficit. Tax isn't being raised. Where is the money coming from? It will take millions plus even to implement the bloody plan.

I am extremely extremely worried.

I would like one yes voter to tell me why the current exit of funds from scotland, and the UK, isn't troubling them.

See the signs, please.....before it is too late.

KatoPotato · 09/09/2014 21:01

No to Follicle Bollicles!!!

Roseformeplease · 09/09/2014 21:05

As part of the union, we can be strong together and fight against the follicle bollicles. Alone, we may be over-run by them (and our mortgages will be more expensive, there will be fewer jobs and there will be cuts because the sums don't add up).

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 09/09/2014 21:06

There is no Shetland indy movement, they as entitled to independence as my wee street is.

WhatWouldFreddieDo · 09/09/2014 21:06

Ooh, what are Follicle Bollicles, and how do I avoid them Grin?

WhatWouldFreddieDo · 09/09/2014 21:09

Bardarbunga it's his job to look delighted at the moment - maybe he's the best actor ever Grin

But as I asked an t'other thread - and I think it was odd who raised the point first - if it's a Yes vote, surely AS and his negotiating team don't have many if any cards to play. The nuclear option of independence has already been played, he can't offer any of the oil as we'll need every last drop, so how's he going to persuade anyone in WM that Scotland should get anything?
