lovely where were you sneered at? Sorry if you feel that way.

Your post of 13.47 isn't very nice though. Some People are scared/worried and they're trying to explain why, no need to come down in them like that.

squoosh · 09/09/2014 13:53

Actually you sis.

On your post at Mon 08-Sep-14 19:57:39 you gave a list of things which you thought were 'Fair'. One of the things listed was 'raising Vat'. Perhaps this was a typo on your part? Pesky things typos.

Actually you 'did'.

WildThong · 09/09/2014 13:53

on them

WildThong · 09/09/2014 13:54

Typos Grin

LatinForTelly · 09/09/2014 13:55

My argument is not to increase the total tax burden but to see that the wealth is shared more fairly.

Weatherall, how do you redistribute wealth if not through tax? Policies like increased free childcare cost money, and that money has to be found from somewhere.

squoosh · 09/09/2014 13:56

Yep, I always make typos when discussing typos! It's the grammar and spelling gods laughing down at me.

Shenanagins · 09/09/2014 13:56

Edam, I have a couple of friends who are Yessers and publicly declare this, the rest of us are Noers but keep very quiet due to some of the negativity that this generates. Tbh, this is the only place that I really talk about it and even then only snippets but that is because there are far more eloquent posters than I who are expressing my sentiments.

"IrnBru, really your cousin's DH has been told not to come in on the 19th?? That seems crazy. I can see how his employer may be planning a move south but I don't think they can make that happen overnight."

I know, it sounds drastic and I really think he's saying this openly to friends and family to get sympathy No votes. It's a sad state of affairs when you have to scrape the barrel. Nothing wrong with voting Yes or No, whichever way you lean, but to use these tactics is wrong.

More likely he'll be given in writing a time frame of how long the company will carry out business in Scotland so he can relocate or move to another job.

I am disappointed at my cousin for getting swept up in his nonsense. One thing I do agree on, has been touched on in several threads, is the division this is causing in families around Scotland. I wish my cousin could form her own opinion but she seems determined to follow her husband's POV even politically.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 09/09/2014 13:59

What makes you think you would get 'negativity' for saying that you are voting no?

Talk about making yourself a victim.

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/09/2014 13:59

She knows she said it - I pointed it out last night too. Calling LadyC a liar was completely out of order

PhaedraIsMyName · 09/09/2014 14:00

Weatherall means no extra tax from ordinary people (like her I assume) and a lot more extra tax from "rich people" (meaning anyone earning a bit more than her)

BardarbungaBardarbing · 09/09/2014 14:00

Carol Craig's viewpoint is interesting as I've seen her previous work.

Weatherall take note, No voters may be interested in social change too!.

Thanks for linking.

IrnBruTheNoo · 09/09/2014 14:01

I follow where weatherall is going with this. Other seem to be cherry picking to suit their own ends.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 09/09/2014 14:01

Are you aware of how rude you sound Phaedra?

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/09/2014 14:01

a lot of people are very quick to say that those voting No are just negative - you only have to look back through these threads. hence our posts on positive reasons which are, of course, ignored as they have been on every other thread.

PhaedraIsMyName · 09/09/2014 14:02

what makes you think you would get 'negativity' for saying that you are voting no?

People say no to all sorts of ridiculous things for very good reasons.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 09/09/2014 14:03

But I'm asking why would someone be unwilling to declare themselves as a NO voter, for fear of some perceived negative reaction?

PhaedraIsMyName · 09/09/2014 14:04

Weatherall has made clear in other posts she is not expecting her tax to increase.

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/09/2014 14:04

IrnBru, Weatherall continually posts huge lists that look awfully like they have been pasted from other sources. When she's questioned or challenged on the validity of them she ignores the posts, and proceeds to post a different list. Last night she posted a list entitled "fairer is" which included "raising VAT". I challenged her on it, she denied saying it. I pointed out she'd just said it. She ignored me. LadyC then pointed it out just now, and she called ladyC a liar.

This is a running theme - posts which are completely inaccurate factually where the corrections and questions are then ignored.

Shenanagins · 09/09/2014 14:04

LovelyRita, case in point.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 09/09/2014 14:06

That's not an answer. What are you scared of? People not agreeing with you or something altogether more sinister? And why?

WildThong · 09/09/2014 14:07

lovely did you find the posts where you said you were patronised and belittled?
I ask in relation to your comment above to Shenanigans, "Talk about making yourself a victim"
The irony!
