Evening all :)

I know, just caught my eye today for some reason

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/09/2014 20:35

Bet she's got her spanx on
hahahahaha. Is it me or is she going greyer too? Think the stress is getting to her!

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/09/2014 20:36

And in the interests of not being called sexist - his tie is a very fetching shade, and he could use a trip to a trendy barber

TheBogQueen · 02/09/2014 20:38

I'm actually enjoying this. They are both very clear and people are getting an answer to their questions instead of hot air and bluster.

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/09/2014 20:39

I agree it's much better

SantanaLopez · 02/09/2014 20:44

Bugger, have finally got DD asleep and don't dare move. Could someone please be a love and post any good answers?

The defence question is very interesting, thank you for those posts.

Is an acceptable force also something we'd have to negotiate?

OP posts:
TheBogQueen · 02/09/2014 20:44

Oh

I'd rather have more nicola and douglas

I want it thrashed out

TeamScotland · 02/09/2014 20:45

Ha, just spotted a cousin in the audience!

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/09/2014 20:45

Gah give us the proper folk back please rather than the shouty twins

TheBogQueen · 02/09/2014 20:49

This labour woman is telling us what she wants. It sounds great. But it's not Labour Party policy.

She is not telling us how she will achieve it! What on earth does thus have to do with independence?

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/09/2014 20:50

Goodness can she stop shouting! You don't need to be at maximum volume all the time.

florascotia · 02/09/2014 20:53

My previous post and other peoples' -was about life-and-death NHS matters. (FWIW, I have met Nicola Sturgeon and was impressed by her. But now we only see her - may not be her fault - with SNP blinkers on.)
But iInstead of things like health care, you lot are talking about xxxing haircuts and underwear. People get the government they deserve. Don't blame me. But, for the sake of your children, please be more responsible.

Of course defence is interesting but it's actually peripheral to the day-to-day management of ordinary peoples' lives.

TheBogQueen · 02/09/2014 20:54

Go Elaine!

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/09/2014 20:54

I think it's Kezia Dugdale.

Elaine is being very shouty and aggressive. Too much rhetoric and not enough proper answers.

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/09/2014 20:55

Florascotia, we were joking about because this is now the 4th thread - most of us have been on here for over 3000 posts, and so we tend to have some lighthearted jokes in amongst it. Maybe read some of the threads back and see what we've actually discussed befor you accuse us of being irresponsible.

SantanaLopez · 02/09/2014 20:56

Flora this isn't actually the fourth thread we've had. Most of us (yes and no) have been talking about this for years now. We've covered absolutely everything and no one has actually changed their mind.

And believe you me, I've got a hell of a lot to lose if there is a Yes vote.

OP posts:
KissMyFatArse · 02/09/2014 20:56

Nicolas and Douglas back please!

However

YES.

TheBogQueen · 02/09/2014 21:00

I 'm not sure what Kezia is arguing for in this context.

She is pointing out all the social issues caused by inequality but seems to think improvements can be achieved by things staying the same - or a Westminster labour government. It's unconvincing.

TheBogQueen · 02/09/2014 21:01

Why are we banging on about shettlestone?

Scotland's a diverse country. It's not all about the central belt!

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/09/2014 21:02

I'm not sure Elaine is any more convincing. She's mocking and snidey - I find Kezia's manner far more personable and pleasant. She's much more the sort of politician I want to see - facts, figures and reasonable debate rather than "look I can shout louder than you"

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/09/2014 21:04

I think it's near to where Elaine lives

TheBogQueen · 02/09/2014 21:06

Oh I like Patrick harvie

frankie80 · 02/09/2014 21:08

Just realised this was on

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/09/2014 21:10

I'm rather impressed with Ruth too.

Now, if it's not too irrelevant and not serious enough for florascotia, am I allowed to say that one thing I do like about this debate is the stronger than usual involvement of female politicians.

florascotia · 02/09/2014 21:10

Yes everyone, I know, and I really don't want to sound miserable, but what seriously worries me is that this is what is happening to the debate in general terms. Big issue fatigue becomes cheerful gossip.

My position is that for personal historic reasons independence is emotionally compelling. But when I look at what nationalism has done to places like Kosovo and is doing in Iraq right now, I have worries.
And when I look at what the Scottish Government has achieved in rural areas, as in the place where I live, I'm HONESTLY not impressed. Believe me, I have tried to make allowances. It's a genuine disppaointment to me.

I only say all this because, when talking to people who live near me, I know I am not the only person to hold these views.

Politics is horribly difficult; I don't want to rain on your cheerful parade, but the issue I have raised really are important.
