Round 3 folks.

We should arrange an Indyref meet up at this stage. Grin

I'd hazard a guess that has probably been shared more by one side - it's so far off the poll results. I doubt, somehow, that they are all "rigged"

OOAOML · 31/08/2014 17:21

just back from a brilliant canvassing session and everyone was nice, no trouble at all - hopefully extreme behaviour on both sides is just a minority.

OldLadyKnowsSomething · 31/08/2014 17:21

You must have seen different clips of Jim Murphy than I have, Rose, I've never seen him attacked by a mob, just one egg-weilding bloke, and Jim can't have felt all that assaulted as he has yet to complain to the police.

Statistically, I tend to agree with yoh on that one! Grin

A Yes shop in Glasgow went up in flames last night. Speculation is, of course, rife, but the cause is not yet known.

2rebecca · 31/08/2014 17:26

I did the postcode thing and apparently we're mainly yes voters here as well. I don't believe it though and suspect it's gerrymandered by the Yes brigade

WildThong · 31/08/2014 17:30

oldlady maybe they set it on fire themselves to gain some publicity

I'm being sarcastic btw Wink

OldLadyKnowsSomething · 31/08/2014 17:35

As I said, speculation is rife, but I hadn't heard that one before, WildThong! Grin

I'm hoping it was something perfectly innocent, like an electrical fault.

OldLadyKnowsSomething · 31/08/2014 17:51

Update on the fire; it was at Eglington Toll, Glasgow South, no-one was injured and the owner says there's no long-term damage. Someone had "filled a wheelie bin and set it alight". Eejits. Angry

StatisticallyChallenged · 31/08/2014 17:54

I do partially suspect that some of the vandalism is just mindless idiots targeting folk on either side just because they want something, anything to target. IME any sort of community activism is quite often the victim of this sort of thing and I'd expect political activism to be even worse.

Still makes me worry for the days after the result - I'm not trying to be dramatic I promise but how many people does it take to turn a peaceful gathering (whether it's the winners or losers, either could be gathering afterwards) in to something much uglier

WildThong · 31/08/2014 18:02

Oh, that's not far from me at all.. Idiots, fire spreads quickly.

Wisnae me btw

prettybird · 31/08/2014 18:06

Not far from me either! Shock

OOAOML · 31/08/2014 18:08

We've had a few bin fires here over the years and the children always ask why - I just don't get the mentality of doing stuff like that. and in the current debate it doesn't do your side any good to behave like that.

OldLadyKnowsSomething · 31/08/2014 18:21

Tbf, we don't know for certain it was either "side", same as Jim Murphy doesn't know for certain the egg-wielding man was a Yesser. There's random vandalism all the time, and lobbing eggs at politicians is practically a UK national tradition... Grin

I fully support anyone who eggs him! Grin

OOAOML · 31/08/2014 20:11

Considering the reception he got in Edinburgh, him going to Glasgow that close to the vote is probably not going to end well.

OOAOML · 31/08/2014 20:13

We could set up a grassroots both sides Mumsnet against Farage movement - then go for bra fittings and cake.

StatisticallyChallenged · 31/08/2014 20:13

That's true - he had to hide in a pub to keep safe in Edinburgh. Surely in Glasgow selecting the wrong pub would be like going from the frying pan to the fire!

OOAOML · 31/08/2014 20:21

Not sure what he thinks he is going to achieve - maybe get is a closet yes.

OOAOML · 31/08/2014 20:21

he not get.

StatisticallyChallenged · 31/08/2014 20:27

Hmm, in the spirit of all the best campaigns we're going to need a title/slogans etc

MAD - Mumsnet against dumbasses?
MARDIE - Mumsnet against racist discriminatory intolerant eejits?

oops, am I being insulting?! Doesn't count as a personal attack if they're not on the thread, right Grin

OOAOML · 31/08/2014 20:31

How do you know that Farage isn't here in disguise? Shock

StatisticallyChallenged · 31/08/2014 20:37

Hmm, you have a point. What if he snuck in last night to see if any of us would do him...

WildThong · 31/08/2014 20:40

Now that's just going tooooo far!

OOAOML · 31/08/2014 20:40

There is a very pro UKIP poster I've seen on the Politics topic.

Re last night - nooooooooooooooo! Personally I think he's a bit too blokey if you get what I mean

OOAOML · 31/08/2014 20:43

"Mumsnet Yes! Mumsnet No! We all say Farage Go!"

"Nigel Nigel Nigel! Out Out Out!"

meikyo · 31/08/2014 20:52

Not trying to butt in, but could anyone answer a question for me? Do people with holiday homes in Scotland get a vote in the referendum? I looked on Citizens Advice Scotland and the residence requirement seems to that your address must be your permanent residential address. Reason I am asking is that I have extended family who have their main home in London but they seem to think they have a vote based on their Scottish holiday home which they live in for about 6-8 weeks a year. Is the residency based on paying council tax in Scotland? A genuine question.
