To be looking forward to Winter

It's got to be better than this awful limbo of a season we're experiencing now.

I am looking forward to putting the heating on without feeling guilty, enjoying hot chocolate with lashings of cream (because when it's cold you need the energy), making stews, wrapping up in lots of woolly layers and stomping around in my boots, having the fire on in the pub...

But then again I'm not looking forward to the lack of sunshine, defrosting the car windshield in the dark (though only did that twice last Winter!) and driving around with perma-cold hands.

I give it until the 2nd week in November until I get the winter blues.

What do we reckon?

Oh I love spring.

I love autumn and winter too - I have liked this summer but I'm not normally a massive fan of soggy English summers. This one was hot in May (I know, technically spring) June and July then we lost it in august Grin Apparently it's coming back for September! Love summer twilights, sitting outside on a warm evening smelling flowers and sipping wine.

But I love autumn and the lakes reflecting the beautiful leaves and I don't even mind the wet.

The BIG issues I have with September are firstly - my birthday and also back to school (teacher!)

What I can't stand is when the weather turns autumnal like it is tonight so you get into that cosy autumn mindset, buy tights, get slow cooker out, etc, and then suddenly it goes 'ta da! Fooled you!' and the temperature goes back up to 20 degrees for a lukewarm encore of summer that no one really wants because it's too late and the shops are full of duffle coats and we're all back at work.

Yep, nothing worse than phony late Summer that you can't even enjoy.

It pissed it down throughout my annual leave and now I'm back at work, the weather is set to improve Hmm Summer's got it in for me this year.
