to not find the toddler swearing funny?

The ice bucket challenge video. (Don't think I have seen a thread about it)

I just don't find it funny and I think it's quite disgusting that a child of that age (no older than 4) would say "fucking hell"

YADNBU - yuk! Haven't seen it though and don't think I want to.

phantomnamechanger · 26/08/2014 22:02

I agree

Apparently that means we have no sense of humour Hmm

MrsBungle · 26/08/2014 22:03

Yanbu. It's a shocking video.

meglet · 26/08/2014 22:05

yanbu. I have a dreadful potty mouth (F and C everything given the chance or when I'm alone) but I've managed to only say 'crap' once in front of the dc's over the years.

CromerSutra · 26/08/2014 22:05

I agree. I hate things like that.

Bambambini · 26/08/2014 22:06

Mixed. Not nice to put it on FB, especially if the child says this stuff often. We do laugh now though about when our toddler swore at another family once when he was 2 or 3. It was so random and unexpected. We were shocked at the time though and mortified.

MistletoeBUTNOwine · 26/08/2014 22:06

Saw it today.
Very sad Sad

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 26/08/2014 22:06

I mentioned it on another thread this afternoon.

It's not funny at all.

plannedshock · 26/08/2014 22:07

Eurgh, saw that,not remotely funny

Passmethecrisps · 26/08/2014 22:08

Sounds vile. I love a wee swear but children swearing is absolutely awful.

When I was a teen one of my toddler cousins was encouraged to show off her party piece which was to say "fuck the pope and my daddy's a drunken bastard"

I will have outed myself to any family as it went down in history - either with those who thought it was hilarious or those of us who were stunned

Eauneau · 26/08/2014 22:09

How strange, i literally just saw this on facebook.

I laughed.

WaltJesseMikeGus · 26/08/2014 22:11

I completely get that children will pick up words from anywhere, so even if you don't swear in front of them they can still pick it up from other sources (other children, school, tv)

The thing is you can hear whoever filmed her laughing and they posted it too so they must think it's hilarious. I'd be mortified if my child did that.

Tikimon · 26/08/2014 22:12

I think it's funny.

Then again, it's not my kid. Grin

Sparklypants · 26/08/2014 22:12

I'm also a bit of a swearer but seeing/hearing small kids do it is nasty.

I try really hard to not swear In front of my dc but it has happened in the past...my dd is 17 and still doesn't swear in front of me. DS is 3 and time will tell (gulp)

PortofinoRevisited · 26/08/2014 22:14

I have to admit to laughing - she is a bright young thing and very articulate for her age. But ultimately it is shit to be "proud" enough to post this on FB. I

Eauneau · 26/08/2014 22:15

Funny, there was a thread on here a few weeks ago where mumsnetters were gleefully relaying their funniest 'my child swore' stories. No cats bum mouths at all on that thread!

Dubjackeen · 26/08/2014 22:16

No, didn't like it either.
I'm on another forum and on one thread where people were posting about funny things their child said, someone posted about their toddler swearing. I just don't get it.

MoominKoalaAndMiniMoom · 26/08/2014 22:17

I laughed but if my DD did it, I'm not sure I'd post it on FB.

tittifilarious · 26/08/2014 22:18

I haven't seen this video. It doesn't sound funny. Occasionally it can be funny - I'm thinking where a child has picked something up from god knows where and the parents stand there open mouthed in mortification. A child who habitually swears though? No.

Delphiniumsblue · 26/08/2014 22:18

I don't find it funny.

OneSkinnyChip · 26/08/2014 22:19

I was a bit Shock and I swear like a sailor Blush

Sparklypants · 26/08/2014 22:19

I just watched it (I've been avoiding all of the ice bucket vids). The way the little girl said it was completely normal, like its a part of her normal vocabulary.

Not nice and nothing to be proud of.

Fav · 26/08/2014 22:20

I laughed too. Probably because I really wasn't expecting it.
Certainly wouldn't have shared it if it was my child.

Passmethecrisps · 26/08/2014 22:23

I get the point about the double standards from the 'funniest things' threads. I think where it differs is the choice to post the vid online.

There are worse things obviously but still grim
