Call themselves a 'full time mum'. You are either a stay at home mum, or a working mum. All are full time parents and all work bloody hard. Hate it.

'Hate loathe and detest'

Lighthearted hhhhmmmm

Norklessnora · 21/08/2014 22:02

I hate loathe and detest marmite. Want to slay me for that too Grin

OP posts:
HaroldLloyd · 21/08/2014 22:03

I love adore and worship marmite.

MollyHooper · 21/08/2014 22:03

Actually, ignore that as you have probably explained yourself. It's just that my settings keep changing to pages rather than view all messages.

I loathe and detest that. Angry

Boysclothes · 21/08/2014 22:03

Well that settles it. Hate marmite? You are a cunt.

Mintyy · 21/08/2014 22:03

I hate, loathe and detest when people don't put the full question in the thread title, but leave a self-important little ...

Norklessnora · 21/08/2014 22:04

Hahaha! Food of Satan!

OP posts:
Norklessnora · 21/08/2014 22:04

Mintyy, seriously, unclench. You'll feel so much better.

OP posts:
Only1scoop · 21/08/2014 22:04

I prefer stay at home marmite....

It doesn't travel well.

Stealthpolarbear · 21/08/2014 22:07

Doesn't bother me. Just means that when people who woh are out doing that, they're still doing mum stuff

Guilty as charged minty.! I will try to stop but I do love a good ... :o

Norklessnora · 21/08/2014 22:07

When I see ... it makes me think of the Eastenders DUN DUNs. And makes me feel ever so important if I type it.

OP posts:
Stealthpolarbear · 21/08/2014 22:09

Yes, loads of ,y threads need a good dun dun dunnnnn
There was the one about measuring a grill pan, the one about things to do on the Isle of Wight in the rain, and the one about getting scum off the shower glass
My life is full of drama and intrigue

HaroldLloyd · 21/08/2014 22:09

I was a bit disappointed. I was hoping it would be something more exciting that these loathsome fuckers were doing.

Pagwatch · 21/08/2014 22:11

People only get in a froth about terms because whatever you call yourself some arse is waiting in the wings to have a pop about it.

The sahm/wohm stuff is so fucking nasty. And it's all the time

Mintyy · 21/08/2014 22:11

Oh Norks! what a hoot of a thread you have started. Congratulations.

Stealthpolarbear · 21/08/2014 22:11

Ainu to hate loathe and detest when mothers pick their noses and flick it at me?

anothervisittothepark · 21/08/2014 22:13

It seems like whatever you say will offend someone. Sahm seems to be most commonly used phrase but i have heard people complain about that cos it implies the mother is in her rightful place in the home. She has chosen to stay.
So i am not sure there is a phrase which pleases everyone.

Boysclothes · 21/08/2014 22:13

I think it's a mumsnet/media thing though Pag. No one in RL gives a shit who is working and who is at home.

Norklessnora · 21/08/2014 22:14

Pagwatch, I have learned that as a parent, you can do nothing right in the eyes of (some - wanky) others. I don't like it at all. Which is why I have probably doomed my children by never taking them to parent/toddler groups.

OP posts:
Only1scoop · 21/08/2014 22:15

Well Norks as a working mum....groups would have been difficult I guess....

Norklessnora · 21/08/2014 22:15

I have been gasped at IRL by the fact that I work full time. The fact that I work shifts and am exhausted but still get lots of time with the children is lost amongst the pearl clutching.

OP posts:
Norklessnora · 21/08/2014 22:15

Not with maternity leave/shift work only.

Pagwatch · 21/08/2014 22:16

True Boysclothes.
Trouble is you come on here and suddenly have a vision of cats bum faces assessing your life. It's depressing.

HaroldLloyd · 21/08/2014 22:17

It probably makes a lot of sense that people just call themselves what they want and we all assume no implied judgyness is meant,

Unless it's ImAfulltimemumandyouracunt

JugglingFromHereToThere · 21/08/2014 22:17

I think YABU - and rarely are cases so clear cut!!

I've personally done a wide variety of parenting/working combo's, as have many mothers to some extent.

If I've ever said I was a full-time Mum I'd have meant that was currently my main focus of activity and I wasn't currently working outside the home.
Most people understand and accept this I've found.

It's a shame really that people have to be so work focused when they ask what you do - but I guess that's life and where we've got to in the early 21st century.
