Monsoon Dress buttons caught in DD hair

Hello. I am trying to find out if anyone one else has had a similar problem with a monsoon summer dress. The dress has tiny square buttons down the back and when my daughter wore it to her birthday party on Saturday her hair became entangled badly enough that I had to cut it away from the buttons. I have been complaining to monsoon and they have assured me that the dress was tested but were unable and possibly unwilling to tell me how this was done with a child with long hair. My daughter's hair is quite long and it was French plaited with the length of the plait coming down the middle of her back so it was testing on the buttons. I think there is nothing unusual about the my 8yr ( she was 8 on Sunday, this dress is age 9 because my daughter is very tall, she has size 3.5 feet ) old having this hair style.

Monsoon were quick to tell me that no one else has complained. IN interested in trying to find other people that have had similar clothing issues. Has anyone ?!

(also if there is a better place to place this please tell me !)

Catsize, you've made me wonder now about all the trousers I've bought from charity shops...

DOn't mock, Chaos - that has happened to me.
Well, it was a zip. Blush

The large buttons would make it worse, flat buttons tangle less, but they still tangle.

It's a pretty looking fabric, buy some green, blue or red/pink ribbon which matches it, and either sew it over the buttons to make them concealed, or if you can't sew, take it to a dry cleaners who do alternations and get them to do it.

Problem solved.

Yesterday I managed to trap myself in bed by lying in my own hair in such a position that I couldn't move to release it. I had to call DP to release me

How? How did this happen? I laughed so much but need more details!
OP YABU - there will be no tangled procedure.

I'm just lost for words! Grin but needed to type something to mark my place as want to see how this pans out!

I got my waist length plait caught in a rotating head scanner thingy at the hospital. I wanted them to sort out my constant migraines. I didn't expect them to do it by ripping my head off.

YABU

I don't think any type of buttons make it more likely for someone's hair to get caught, its just one of those things I can't see how you would complain to them? Its like a man catching his bits in a zip of jeans complaining, its not the jeans is it?

If she got her hate stuck in a hair brush you wouldn't blame the brush surely?

I get my long hair caught in things on a regular basis. Clothes zips, buttons, tent zip, velcro on safety helmet strap, my glasses. It has never occurred to me to question the testing process for any of these items.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 20/08/2014 11:20

I just knew someone would mention the nail in the shot.

BaronessBomburst · 20/08/2014 11:22

I frequently catch my hair slide in the mosquito nets whilst making the beds, bringing them down on top of me. Should I demand that mosquitoes be eradicated?

londonrach · 20/08/2014 11:22

Always getting hair caught in buttons. It's a risk when you wear clothes with buttons. Disclaimer...None of said items are from monsoon but every other high street shop.

I once got my head stuck through railings at the park.

I was 40.

actually I was 4

Should I have complained to the council?

It wouldn't happen with a Rolls, Sugar !

londonrach · 20/08/2014 11:30

Sorry Kim you making me laugh with the public hair and keeping it neater. Grin.

londonrach · 20/08/2014 11:32

My necklaces are always catching my hair should demand a new one from dh very time it catches as he bought it for me and patiently cuts my hair off it every so often.

I think it would be advisable to swap the wooden buttons for some smoother plastic ones.
I think the rougher texture might cause the hairs to catch.

Ha! I did this the other night! My hair is waste length so it got trapped by my back whilst I was in bed. I tried to sit up but my hair was trapped tightly behind me so I couldn't lift my head or sit up.

Looking back I probably could have just rolled over and freed myself that way, instead of getting DP to lift me off my hair Grin

chubbyhez · 20/08/2014 11:50

I get my hair caught in the car windows a lot. Happened on one of my first dates with dh. The windows went up when he turned the engine off, he gotout and I was stuck trying to get my hair out without ripping it or letting him know I was stuck.

I failed and he popped his head back in the car to see if I was ok. I asked him to roll the windows down as I was a little stuck. Nothing else was said.

I was cringing and dying with embarrassment. He almost chocked trying not to laugh.

doyouwantfrieswiththat · 20/08/2014 11:50

One of the TAs at school wears her back buttoned shirt the wrong way round, do you think she does it to stop her hair getting caught.

BringMeSunshine2014 · 20/08/2014 12:07

SugarSkully - I was just about to say the same thing. Perhaphs we could get together to sue Ford?

For the love of all things holy - 'Is there a testing proceedure for this' - I bet they were wetting themselves laughing at the other end.

Salmotrutta · 20/08/2014 12:12

Did you not notice the buttons on the dress OP when she first put it on?

Did you not do a risk assessment?

Very negligent parenting if you don't mind me saying...
