Everytime I blimmin go to a restaurant or cafe these days everything is pulled effing pork. Pulled pork sandwiches, wrap, flatbread, pizza - even saw pulled pork on top of chips today and so expensive for what is essentially offal, no?

Anyone care to join me in my pulled pork grump? (and yes I know I can order something else) just think it's over rated

Man v food did it for me.

There's a cocktail bar in Leeds that does something called a Louisiana Jam which is served in a jam jar with apricot jam in it. I thought it was quite cute, but I do dislike eating off wooden boards and find it strange how it's reserved to special foods in the pubs and restaurants around here.

New York chicken= plate. Burger= plank.

One pub near us does nachos and one bowl has nacho cheese and the other has mozzarella. This would usually irritate me, but I like stealing the one with mozzarella and giving the crap other one to DHGrin

Bogeyface · 17/08/2014 14:11

I think we ticked all the boxes when we ate out last Saturday on hols.

'Slaw - Check
Pulled Pork - Check
Chips in a mug (WTF?!) - Check
Plank - Check

This was at Harveys in Llandudno and the bill for 2 pulled pork rolls with chips and 'slaw, a kids meal and 4 beers came to nearly £50 Shock

PinkLights · 17/08/2014 16:37

Oh I haven't come across chips in a mug yet. Do you think they are using the mug as it holds less chips than the metal plant pot?

ariadneoliver · 17/08/2014 17:59

unlucky83 meatloaf cupcakes with sweet potato frosting Hmm Grin

SconeRhymesWithGone · 17/08/2014 18:05

We were served chips (well, french fries; it was in the States) in silver goblets at a wedding.

unlucky83 · 17/08/2014 18:25

ariad Grin I was more imagining something with whipped up goat's cheese frosting decorated with crisped caramelised red onion!

EBearhug · 17/08/2014 19:45

They do chips in a mug at the canteen at work - it does make it easier for you to just take a portion of chips. When I tip them on to the plate, it looks about the same as I would normally expect for a portion anyway.

I've just had grilled halloumi with my dinner.

ariadneoliver · 17/08/2014 20:15

Surely caramelised beetroot unlucky83, much trendier.

windchime · 17/08/2014 20:17

I love it. YABU. I am definitely going to cook it for supper tomorrow.

CabbagePatchCheryl · 17/08/2014 20:21

YANBU. I used to love it but it's been done to death. Greggs have a pulled pork pasty. It's officially over.

Dontgotosleep · 17/08/2014 20:23

What's pulled pork. Feel free to LYFAO at me for not knowing.

OnlyLovers · 17/08/2014 20:34

Gregg's pulled pork pasty sounds like heaven in a greasy paper bag to me. [classy]

CabbagePatchCheryl · 17/08/2014 21:06

Don'tgotosleep It's a pork joint (usually shoulder) that has been very slowly cooked and then shredded (kinda like the duck you get in pancakes in Chinese restaurants). It usually comes with a sort of sticky, sweet BBQ sauce. It's yum. But it got VERY trendy a while ago and now it's absolutely everywhere.

Dontgotosleep · 17/08/2014 21:10

Sounds delicious.

CeliaBowen · 17/08/2014 21:47

We ate it for lunch today and it was yum! Grin

FacebookWillEatItself · 17/08/2014 22:12

Oh God yes, salted caramel is the sweet version of pulled pork. Cannot move for the decking stuff.

FacebookWillEatItself · 17/08/2014 22:13

fecking not decking. Autocorrect mind your own business please.

FacebookWillEatItself · 17/08/2014 22:18

I love beetroot. Always have, since being a small child and 47 now. so not trendy - just love beetroot.

I love halloumi too.

But anything pops makes me stubby.

Cakepops = me feeling stabby.

Lamb lollipops = me feeling triple stabby.

A lamb lollipop is just a French trimmed singular lamb chop to you and me and the butcher. A lamb lollipop is some daft thing thought up by marketing persons.

FacebookWillEatItself · 17/08/2014 22:19

Oh for crying out loud. STABBY STABBY STABBY not stubby.

TattyDevine · 18/08/2014 15:43

Lol at your pacifist, non-sweary autocorrect FB Grin

lk26 · 18/08/2014 15:47

I am off for supper at wether spoons with the girls. Real classy here !

AgathaF · 18/08/2014 16:02

Triple cooked chips, anyone? I'm a bit fucking bored with seeing them now, reheated shite.

gorillawitch · 18/08/2014 16:06

The joy of food trends. At the moment the food trend for veggies is macaroni cheese - called mac 'n' cheese to make it sound edible. If you have the misfortune of being a veggie at a BBQ the veggie option is a mushroom in a bun. Usually at the same price as the meat option.
Have just come back from a UK holiday & have been moaning about the veggie options especially pub food.
