To be sick of pulled pork?

IsChippyMintonExDirectory · 16/08/2014 18:51

Everytime I blimmin go to a restaurant or cafe these days everything is pulled effing pork. Pulled pork sandwiches, wrap, flatbread, pizza - even saw pulled pork on top of chips today and so expensive for what is essentially offal, no?

Anyone care to join me in my pulled pork grump? (and yes I know I can order something else) just think it's over rated

YANBU. Pork is gross.

tryingtocatchthewind · 16/08/2014 19:10

It's lovely but it's very trendy all of a sudden

Fairenuff · 16/08/2014 19:10

I always think the phrase sounds faintly rude

PetulaGordino · 16/08/2014 19:10

It's very nice, but I like carnitas better

Alisvolatpropiis · 16/08/2014 19:15

Yabvvvvvu!

hormonalandneedingcheese · 16/08/2014 19:43

YANBU to be sick of it if it's offered a lot, I love PP but it's usually more expensive then other alternatives. Love P burritos and now I bloody want one cries.

TattyDevine · 16/08/2014 20:06

YANBU! I've been bitching about this to my friends and anyone who will listen for a while now.

Its not the dish itself I object to - my mum has been slow roasting shoulders of pork (and lamb for that matter) since I was a girl, its the fact that it is given the ridiculous name "pulled" as opposed to "slow roast shoulder of pork" and the fact that its bloody everywhere all of a sudden like it never used to exist. And it shouldn't have loads of BBQ sauce either in my opinion but that's more of a personal preference thing.

AbsolutelyCrushed · 16/08/2014 20:08

I love pulled pork.

Pulled pork soup day at Pret is my favourite day of the work week.

Stealthpolarbear · 16/08/2014 20:09

So it's just slow roast pork?? Well that's been around for decades, I thought it was something new and fancy
We had pulled pizza for tea.

SirChenjin · 16/08/2014 20:10

Yep, it's slow roast pork, but they key thing which sets it aside from all other types of slow roast pork is that you absolutely have to put it into shreds with a fork.

BolshierAyraStark · 16/08/2014 20:10

YABU about pulled pork & also for calling it offal-it's nothing of the sort.

It shouldn't however be covered in BBQ sauce, wtf is that about Hmm

MaidOfStars · 16/08/2014 20:14

It takes me 48 hours to make pulled pork. In my house, that's practically Michelin starred food.

and given that I am vegetarian, I think I should get credit for this

ouryve · 16/08/2014 20:18

Good pulled pork is lovely.

I've had stuff that smells like dog food, though.

ThursdayLast · 16/08/2014 20:19

I love it.
But YANBU as it IS overkill in restaurants etc etc.
It's been in every cafe for over a year and they still think it's cutting edge.

ThursdayLast · 16/08/2014 20:20

Basically tatty said it better

GalaxyInMyPants · 16/08/2014 20:21

I love it. Tried cooking it myself once and it wasn't very good though.

NormHonal · 16/08/2014 20:23

YANBU...2014 is the Summer of Pulled Pork .

Pulled pork on top of a burger in a bun was one of the adverts from M&S or Sainsbo's, wasn't it?! Complete overkill.

SnapeAndLily · 16/08/2014 20:24

Even Walkers have got in on the act!

HoldenMcGroin · 16/08/2014 20:24

ROAR at pulled pizza

TattyDevine · 16/08/2014 20:27

Stealthpolarbear do you mean pizza with "pulled pork" on it or are they ripping pizzas to shreds now and calling it that to make it sound trendy as well? Hmm Grin

Godcreatedcricket · 16/08/2014 20:27

As above, it ain't offal, love, though you may find it awful.
It's yum. Try drenched in vinegar.

Stealthpolarbear · 16/08/2014 20:29

No it was just a margherita but I cooked it a bit too long probably not as high as it should have been. It. Wasn't offal but it could have been better. We ate it like pigs though.
We're right classy here

Stealthpolarbear · 16/08/2014 20:30

Apologies for repeating the offal joke straightaway. I thought I'd at leat managed to leave a few posts in between!

MarthaMeltdown · 16/08/2014 20:35

Pulled pork is everywhere at the moment. I was shopping today and there was a van selling "salt beef" in different forms. There was a large queue - is salt beef the next pulled pork? Have to say I've never had it!

Pico2 · 16/08/2014 20:37

I've had it once it it just tasted of vinegary bbq sauce. Does it get better than that?
