Everytime I blimmin go to a restaurant or cafe these days everything is pulled effing pork. Pulled pork sandwiches, wrap, flatbread, pizza - even saw pulled pork on top of chips today and so expensive for what is essentially offal, no?

Anyone care to join me in my pulled pork grump? (and yes I know I can order something else) just think it's over rated

Can I throw some Thai curry (both red and green) into the buffet please?

Also stuff which is an un interesting part of normal food broken off to be it's own snack - like dough balls and pizza crusts

We need sixty different kinds of artisan gin to drink before the buffet

PinkLights · 16/08/2014 23:08

BolshierAyraStark · 16/08/2014 23:10

Right

Pulled pork = lovely
Hog roast = lovely
Salt beef = fookin gorgeous (Deffo if in a sarnie from Selfridges)
Gin = king of all drinks as long as you don't fucking add fennel.

BBQ sauce = shit, fuck off

Done.

Love the quote from the Emergency Department clinical director in that article "If food is too large we would recommend cutting it into more manageable chunks" thanks for that pearl of wisdom Hmm

I love pulled pork, I had it in New York for the first time on my honeymoon and have been making it ever since.

ClockWatchingLady · 16/08/2014 23:19

Never heard of pulled pork.
Pork pulling definitely sounds like a euphemism though - I thought this thread might be pure filth. Ah well.

SuburbanRhonda · 16/08/2014 23:20

Sorry to be a bit slow, but how can anyone hate beetroot? Confused

Agree with the poster who said "pulled pork" sounds rude. Like a hand job Grin

IsChippyMintonExDirectory · 16/08/2014 23:24

How can anyone like beet root! It's revolting and stains your plates. Maybe that's why restaurants serve on pieces of slate now?

Oh gawd, pulled pork in one of those slow cooker groups where they pride themselves on making a sloppy mess.

ClockWatchingLady · 16/08/2014 23:25

pulled pork and stuffing roll

Dh loves pulled pork

I want some now!

I blame Adam Richman

You really are a dirty bunch.

BolshierAyraStark · 16/08/2014 23:25

Beetroot is just gorgeous, roast it then grate & mix with oil & balsamic. Fuck, making myself hungry...

Notso · 16/08/2014 23:28

When I go to the fruit and veg shop there is a box of beetroot right next to the till. I have to take a big breath before I pay because it smells awful. That is why I don't like beetroot.

ICanSeeTheSun · 16/08/2014 23:28

I'm a little hungry now.

PinkLights · 16/08/2014 23:29

Is that what guys are saying clubs now? "Come and pull my pork?" Shock Grin

EBearhug · 17/08/2014 00:18

I would really like a creamed mushroom vol au vent now. (I like vol au vents.)

I do not mind Halloumi and salted caramel being everywhere, as they are both very splendid - although admittedly not together. (Actually, I don't mind pulled pork, as long as it isn't smothered in BBQ sauce.)

JapaneseMargaret · 17/08/2014 00:42

Salt beef has been around for ages; there's an entire cafe dedicated to it in Selfridges, The Brass Rail, and their sandwiches are amazing.

I love pork - doesn't need to be pulled necessarily, just slow-cooked.

OrangeFluff · 17/08/2014 01:10

I'm a chef at a restaurant where we make our own pulled pork. It is VERY popular. It's made with pork shoulder that we smoke for an hour in lots of spices, then slow roast for about 7 hours with onions, chipotle chillis, cider and apple juice, then finish off with bbq sauce. YABU because it is delicious!

wobblyweebles · 17/08/2014 04:14

This thread is making my hungry for pulled pork, goat cheese, halloumi, beetroot, gin, salted caramel... I'll take it all.

bigTillyMint · 17/08/2014 04:34

We are in Costa Rica and have just stuffed our faces with pulled pork served with 3 different types of BBQ sauce, buns and a choice of 2 sides - I had tropical coleslaw and yucca chips. YUM!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 17/08/2014 07:31

I hate beetroot, it's in the category of vegetables that are too sweet, like parsnips and butternut squash. We get some in our veggie box every now and then and I give it to my parents (and yes, I have tried baking it into at least three cake recipes and every time you can still taste the beetroot).

Stealthpolarbear · 17/08/2014 07:43

Yes Thai green curry is so last decade...
I love this thread where people are talking about COLEslaw

TattyDevine · 17/08/2014 08:55

YY to pretentious sweet potato "hand cut" (how the fuck else do people cut them really?) skin on "chips" served in an overpriced tiny galvanised bucket.

Rare steaks on boards is an accident waiting to happen particularly when people use steak knives to cut them, making big absorbent rivers in the wood, which can't be put in the dishwasher. And I'm not precious about food safety generally.

Deconstructed ravioli - so you couldn't be faffed to make ravioli so you make a couple of rank sheets of lasagne and pile 2 teaspoons of cromer crab with a medley of hand foraged samphire and a reduction of mermaid's piss.

And charge me £70 for it wtf.

SuburbanRhonda · 17/08/2014 10:38

Raw beetroot has a smell? Shock

ghostland · 17/08/2014 11:34

It's not offal. It's lovely! - sorry crap joke.

It is actually pork shoulder slow roasted so it becomes very soft and tender and can literally be pulled apart. If you put loads of herbs and spices on it and put it in a slow cooker for about 6 hours it is like heaven on earth. I thought it was made popular by Diners, Drive-ins and Dives or at least it seems to be featured on there constantly.
