Who can not love 'Good Morning Vietnam!' I remember seeing it at the cinema and it was such a ground breaking film for him.

He left so many good memories

Firsttimemom2013 · 12/08/2014 09:09

Woke at 4am by my daughter got her back to sleep and checked fb before going back to sleep, was stunned to see robin Williams had passed away after battling depression, he was one of the worlds funniest men and couldn't find the happiness in his own life after making others so happy with his films......so sad xxx

Itsfab · 12/08/2014 09:20

DH told me this morning and I was very tearful because of the nature of his death and the fact he wasn't getting enough help for his depression. It makes no sense but it seems worse he has apparently died this way when the right help might have saved him. Depression is horrendous, is misunderstood and played down a lot ime and it is such a waste to lose such a lovely, gifted man.

RIP Robin and condolences to his family.

AgesOfAquarius · 12/08/2014 09:23

I think John Cleese has also had bouts of depression

lbsjob87 · 12/08/2014 09:28

I went to bed early last night, quite happy.
When I woke up to do the 12.30 feed, OH said "Thry just said on the news Robin Williams has died."
I struggled to sleep after that. Ridiculous, someone I never met, but I just felt unbelievably sad that someone so incredibly funny could die so tragically.
What with him, Mike Smith last week and Harold Ramis from Ghostbusters earlier this year, 2014 is turning into the year my childhood died. :(

Dreadful, shocking news. A great actor.

shotyourfox · 12/08/2014 09:36

So sad and especially as it looks like his life ended at his own hands. Feel sorry for his wife too. She must be devastated. Hopefully he will now find the peace he so desperately craved Sad RIP

7Days · 12/08/2014 09:39

Tansie · 12/08/2014 10:20

RIP Sad

JilledOut · 12/08/2014 10:35

Absolutely gutted, particularly after Rik Mayall too. Both gone far too soon.

MissRee · 12/08/2014 10:38

Peter Pan - You know that place between sleep & awake? That place where you still remember dreaming? That's where I'll always love you

Tinkerbell - That's where I'll be waiting.

I really can't believe this. I adored Mork & Mindy as a kid and even had a Mork doll.

Depression is a cruel bastard.

Ketchuphidestheburntbits · 12/08/2014 10:52

Sad news, he was a wonderful actor and comedian.

HesterShaw · 12/08/2014 11:01

Bless Robin. For some reason, is one my favourite of his moments. Even though it's a cartoon.

zippey · 12/08/2014 11:09

I loved his later work, he was great playing really creepy characters in One Hour Photo and Insomnia which I just watched last week.

Loved him in Mork and Mindy, Good Morning Vietnam, Dead Poets Society etc

He had a great session being interviewed by Parkinson as well.

handcream · 12/08/2014 11:15

I remember the interview with Parkinson and he came across as very shy and only confident when he was playing a character. Michael did try and bring out the real RW but didnt really manage to intereview the real man.

I loved Dead Poets Society. Probably his best film but Mrs Doubfire was such fun.

jamdonut · 12/08/2014 11:20

NigellasDealer · 12/08/2014 11:54

Nanoo nanoo mork from ork...

QisforQcumber · 12/08/2014 11:58

Loved that link Hester, that really takes me back.

PeachyParisian · 12/08/2014 12:00

I can't even believe the news Sad I grew up watching his films and usually celebrity deaths don't have an impact but he didn't feel like a celebrity. He was in our homes and hearts through his work, such a terribly sad day.

Onedropoflove · 12/08/2014 12:44

There's some lovely tributes on radio 2 now

AdoraBell · 12/08/2014 12:48

Such a sad loss.

RIP Robin.
