To think Royal Mail don't actually deliver daily to single addresses any more?

I have noticed that I NEVER get any mail on a Monday or Wednesday, as in none. I very rarely get any on a Thursday but frequently get a wodge of letters on a Tuesday and Friday that have postmarks from days before. It's really annoying.

AIBU to think that Royal Mail have possibly cut down the daily deliveries to my address to alternate days as a money saving exercise?

We have the same here.

I think it's a bloody cheek, but royal mail are a law unto themselves

unweavedrainbow · 11/08/2014 14:53

Our postie comes every day, but we live in a big city. Are you rural?

amyhamster · 11/08/2014 14:54

I'm at home a lot at the moment & I see the postman everyday

Smilesandpiles · 11/08/2014 14:54

Haven't noticed it here but then I see the postman walk past every day.

Marcipex · 11/08/2014 14:54

We've noticed this - we're in Devon. Never any post here on a Monday or Friday and I don't see the van this side of the village.

I guess it's a cutback to save money.

Nerf · 11/08/2014 14:55

Yep, same here.

Wantsunshine · 11/08/2014 14:55

Yes, I've noticed that too. I live in a town so I wonder if they just do alternate streets on different days.

Caramelkate · 11/08/2014 14:55

We get 2 deliveries a day -Royal Mail and TNT. But I'm in a big city.

Galvanized · 11/08/2014 14:56

Yanbu - I'm in the London suburbs and I've noticed this too. I appreciate there is less post than there used to be though so it's hard to know for sure.

flipchart · 11/08/2014 14:57

Postman is here everyday. (TBH I think he is here a bit too often with those damn bills!!)

I got a parcel by Royal Mail on Friday.
I'm on the outskirts of a small Northern town

17leftfeet · 11/08/2014 14:57

I never get post on Tuesdays or Thursdays -and I live in a big city

It's very frustrating

Lottiedoubtie · 11/08/2014 15:00

TNT deliver every other day around here and Royal Mail are supposed to deliver every day. Can't say I've tracked it though, we don't get post everyday so it's possible what you say is true here.

Longdistance · 11/08/2014 15:03

Our posty is erratic. It gets delivered by a van. We live in a private close of just 5 houses. Don't know why though, as the next road gets post everyday, and they're all terraced houses.

It's like they sit on our post Hmm

trikken · 11/08/2014 15:06

Same. We moved a few months ago in the same area though and I'm also convinced that they dont bring parcels with them here. Twice I've 'missed' the postman bringing my parcel when I've been in the house. (Can hear knocking from all rooms) so think thry judt bring the red slip and put it through without knocking.

PrincessOfChina · 11/08/2014 15:06

This can sometimes happen to us. We're in a big city, less than 100m from the post depot.

Happens most often when our normal postie is on holiday.

Andrewofgg · 11/08/2014 15:13

Post a letter to yourself early on Saturday and Tuesday to test it out.

Then a Special Delivery and an ordinary letter.

If they both arrive you need to organise as many neighbours as possible who have the same issue. If you take it in turns (and split the cost) of sending a Special Delivery letter every Tuesday and Saturday that will force RM to honour their obligation and deliver the bloody letters!

Showy · 11/08/2014 15:14

I was saying this to DH the other day. 3 days a week they bring a higher volume than they ever have. Two days a week they never, ever come. It's highly frustrating.

PinkSquash · 11/08/2014 15:17

We're in the SW and have noticed a similar thing happening. My neighbour gets parcels delivered daily by van, but the letters go on foot

MulberryPeony · 11/08/2014 15:19

We've nicknamed Tuesday as "no post Tuesday" because of the lack of mail.

SaucyJack · 11/08/2014 15:19

I've been wondering the same. We always get our post in one or two "goes" a week now. Have missed a couple of important appts. recently.

HouseofEliot · 11/08/2014 15:29

I see the postman daily but we don't always get post. He usually comes about 1pm which is annoying when I am waiting for something.

offtoseethewizard64 · 11/08/2014 15:32

I wondered this too as I noticed that we stopped getting post on a Tuesday. I am not in very often so didn't know if the postman delivered to anyone else in the street on that day. However, as it is the school holidays, I have been home more often and have noticed that we still don't get post on a Tuesday but the postman has definitely delivered mail to other houses in our street.
We also didn't get post on a Saturday one week but I definitely saw the postman. I think there just seems to be less post now as we do more electronically (bills, bank statements etc) and they do only bring the unaddressed 'junk mail' when they are already delivering proper post to your door so that is probably why it looks like a pile on the days you get post.

StrawberryGashes · 11/08/2014 15:35

I live in a town and my postman comes every day. On days where I've not had any post I still see him delivering to the neighbours.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 11/08/2014 15:35

Ours is daily but we are in quite a built up area.

Tbh our Postie is amazing. My parents are on the same delivery route so he deliveres our parcels to each other if we arent it automatically. He has also been known to drive past us when we are out and about and say "ive got a parcel for you, its too heavy for me to give you here, do you know wjen you will be in and ill pop back"

StrawberryGashes · 11/08/2014 15:36

My friend is a postman too and has a specific route that he has to do every day too, excluding Sunday though obviously.
